00:00After Grenada's Prime Minister Decon Mitchell met with Prime Minister Kamla
00:03Passau-Bissessor at the Democratic Center in St. Anne's, the media received a brief
00:08summary of the talks. In terms of our partnership, our relationship, there are
00:13many, many people living in Trinidad who are either descendants of Grenadians or
00:16Grenadians, and so whether it's Hannibal, whether it's music, whether it's food,
00:20whether it's culture, we're only 35 minutes away, and so I'm indeed very, very happy that I've been given the opportunity to be hosted.
00:26As the Prime Minister said, it was a very good meeting. The primary of the discussion was a focus on energy.
00:33A joint communique was later issued and declared that the government of Trinidad and Tobago will seek approval and communicate to the government of Grenada,
00:41the members of the steering committee for Trinidad and Tobago in the next three weeks,
00:45to activate discussions regarding the framework agreement concerning energy sector cooperation signed in 2012 and is still in force.
00:53It was also announced that Trinidad and Tobago's Energy Ministry will be signing a data use agreement with Grenada in the next week,
01:00which provides the government of Grenada with access to seismic and well data on the north coast of Trinidad and Tobago,
01:06so that they can continue work on the regional technical study which is being done over the Grenada acreage.
01:11Trinidad and Tobago's Energy Ministry will also be collaborating with a working group established by the government of Grenada to assist with development of a regulatory framework for the petroleum sector in Grenada,
01:22and also extend the technical persons who can review the study and work being done by the consultants.
01:28The joint communique then also stated Trinidad and Tobago can assist with developing a promotions campaign for Grenada's acreage,
01:35and that the government of Trinidad and Tobago will support the participation of multinational companies in the provision of technical and institutional assistance in the energy sector to the government of Grenada.
01:46After Prime Minister Michele's departure, Prime Minister Fasad-Basasa spoke with the media.
01:51TV6 News posed a question with regard to gas supply in light of Prime Minister Fasad-Basasa's support for the deployment of U.S. Navy vessels near the waters of Venezuela
02:01and what the U.S. is calling the fight against drug cartels.
02:05In terms of the issue of gas supply, you've had the discussion with Grenada, but I think the government is still having conversations with Venezuela.
02:14Is there any sense of how that could go given the things that are taking place now?
02:19When we know more on that with respect to Venezuela, we'll let you know at the moment we're engaging with Grenada.
02:24I had said it very early o'clock, if you remember, on my first day when I was swooning that we would engage Grenada, and that is starting to happen.
