25 August - national forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk
Transcript
00:00Hello, well after a pleasant Monday it is going to be turning more changeable as we
00:05go through the week with rain and showers. Now taking a look at the bigger picture we
00:10lose the area of high pressure, low pressure towards the south of Iceland will draw fronts
00:15our way and then another system coming through on Wednesday that will bring some heavy spells
00:20of rain and some gusty winds across the south. But back to the rest of this evening and it's
00:26a fine end to bank holiday Monday across Wales and England but across Northern Ireland a band
00:31of rain will push in from the west and then eventually end up across much of Scotland,
00:36Northern England, Wales and the southwest of England overnight. The rain could be heavy at times,
00:43staying dry across much of central England and the southeast, still quite breezy and temperatures
00:49generally holding up at around 15 or 16 degrees. So generally quite a mild start to Tuesday but
00:57more unsettled out there compared to Monday. We've got this band of rain across eastern Scotland
01:02moving its way eastwards, generally just leaves a legacy of cloud across northeastern England
01:07and into East Anglia. Once that clears its way through it's actually a fine and dry picture here
01:13with again plenty of sunshine. Towards the west though that's where we'll see a scattering of
01:18showers especially across Northern Ireland and Scotland, a few of these could turn heavy at times.
01:24But otherwise temperatures are going to be falling closer to average in the west, now down at around
01:2920 to 22 degrees but in the sunny spells still across the Midlands and the southeast of England
01:35holding up still at around 26 degrees. So as we go through the afternoon and evening time any of
01:43those daytime showers generally start melting away. We'll see a few still lingering across Scotland but
01:49otherwise generally clear skies across much of England but we will start seeing the next system
01:55come into Northern Ireland so turning cloudier here by dawn. Otherwise temperatures are going to be
02:01slightly lower so a bit of a cooler start on Wednesday morning around 13 or 14 degrees in the towns and
02:08cities. So as we start Wednesday morning then it's going to be a bit of an unsettled start across Northern
02:14Ireland once again with heavier spells of rain. This will push its way north and eastwards into Wales,
02:20into the southwest of England and again into western Scotland. Now this band of rain could be particularly
02:25heavy and thundery with some flashes of lightning and hail and then followed on behind with a scattering
02:31of showers. Cloudier now across the southeast of England and temperatures generally falling closer
02:37to average but still staying dry so if it's rainfall you're after probably not going to see much of it
02:42across the southeast on Wednesday but plenty of sunshine across eastern Scotland. Otherwise rather
02:48cool across Northern Ireland 17 degrees otherwise widely 21 to 22 degrees. So more changeable this week
02:56but make sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss any updates on that and there is a week ahead forecast
03:01for you on YouTube. Bye bye.
