Here are some great alternative ways to celebrate Manchester Pride this weekend.
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. Manchester Pride Festival is here and people are lining the
00:04streets ready to celebrate the importance of that wonderful community that we have here in
00:08Manchester. This is as well as obviously celebrating their own pride and self-love at a time where
00:13certain members of the queer community are feeling got at and attacked by society. That is unfortunately
00:17a theme throughout history and it makes the happiness of this weekend all the more important
00:21with young queer people everywhere trying to find themselves amidst a crowd of acceptance and love.
00:26Now while the main pride events are obviously the Gay Village Party and the Mardi Gras event that's
00:31going on over at Freya Island and Depot Mayfield, tickets have been flying off the shelves and you
00:35may find it difficult to get your way in there. Don't fear though because there are a whole bunch
00:39of other events going on across the city that are absolutely worth checking out if you want to find
00:43a slightly different way to celebrate. Now we're going to start at the MCR Live Hub which is in
00:48Piquitli Gardens just below me actually and it's become a great spot to grab a drink while basking
00:52in the sun and enjoying some top tier live music. There's a full program of entertainment lined up
00:57over the course of the weekend with performances from DJ Very Cherry and many more. Entry is
01:02completely free and there are some brilliant food options too with Zook Tea Bar offering some great
01:06Indian options while Fritz serves up some awesome loaded fries. The Reach of Piccadilly also has some
01:12great stuff going on with Drag Idol UK finalist Pam Sandwich hosting the weekend. There is a DJ present
01:18and a whole host of great offers on a massive range of awesome drinks and cocktails too.
01:22Finally there's the Pride times Fumo Terrace Party at Fumo Manchester on St Peter's Square this
01:27Saturday. It's going on from 12 to 6 with great gelato, cocktails, spritzes and snacks. It's a great
01:33viewing spot for the parade as well and there's going to be tons of music, comedy and much more.
01:37All of those are great options so let us know which one you fancy, enjoy Pride and follow Manchester World for more.
