00:13Welcome back to Knock Hill.
00:15And the cars just making their way around on the final formation lap for the second race of the day.
00:20Absolutely glorious sunshine we have now.
00:22It was so murky and misty here at Knock Hill this morning.
00:25It delayed the start of the support races but it's absolutely ideal conditions now for the start of round 20 of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship.
00:35And let's take a look now at how it lines up.
00:37Jason Plato starts on pole position.
00:40Can he do what he did at Croft last time out and win not only the second race of the day but the third as well.
00:45Matt Neill lines up alongside him on the front row.
00:47Rob Collard, independent champion from last year.
00:50He lines up on the second row with Sean Watson-Smith in the Proton.
00:53They're withdrawing at the end of this year but they're up for some good results now.
00:56The third row sees Dan Eves and Ivan Muller.
00:59Let's see whether the Frenchman can pull something out of the bag this time.
01:02Colin Turkington lines up seventh after the penalty that pushed him down to fourth after the first race.
01:08James Thompson will line up next to him.
01:10And then it's Tom Chilton who now has inherited second for that first race but he's been very fast all weekend, the youngster.
01:16And he's got the experienced Anthony Reid alongside carrying full ballast now but he did win earlier.
01:22Jason Hughes lines up 11th on the grid.
01:24John George in the LPG powered Peugeot.
01:27He's 12th on the grid.
01:28Behind him it's James Kaye.
01:30He's been a bit out of luck so far this weekend.
01:32Richard Marsh next to him in the privateer Honda Civic.
01:35Then it's the VX Racing, Voxel Astra of Luke Hines, Carl Brees and the Alfa Romeo.
01:41And the last two on the grid, Farik Haraman in the second of the Protons and Rob Huff.
01:46Now that could be a story.
01:47The second Seat coming through from the back of the grid, Tim.
01:51It's not going to be easy for him around Notkill but we've got to keep an eye on him.
01:54Notkill, a very difficult circuit to overtake.
01:56A reverse grid.
01:58The situation is set for some very exciting racing as they line up on the grid.
02:01Once again only the front two rows on a level track.
02:05So that's the view from on board Ivan Muller.
02:09I wonder whether the Frenchman is going to be able to pull something out the back.
02:12Let me just tell you after the first race with the changes that were made to the results.
02:15James Thompson has a one point advantage in the championship.
02:19And Anthony Reid that little bit closer.
02:21He's still 37 points behind but you never know.
02:23We've still got a lot of races to go in this year's championship.
02:26We're getting all ready for the start.
02:28It's going to be Jason Plato versus Matt Neill from the front row.
02:31Plato makes an excellent start in the Seat.
02:34Matt Neill slots into second place.
02:35Rob Collard going well.
02:37He's up into third and being chased at the moment by Dan Eves into the first corner.
02:42Duffer's dip.
02:42It drops steeply downhill to the right here.
02:45Back to the left and into McIntyre's.
02:46And Jason Plato has made the perfect getaway from that pole position.
02:51He dropped down to 10th place in race one to earn it.
02:53And now he's going to make the most of it.
02:55Well, after his success of winning the second and third races in previous meetings,
02:59everybody else has conned on.
03:01The team dynamics in the Computeach with Halford's Hondas.
03:04They say they've played it carefully in the first race.
03:07We'll now see if they've got real pace for Matt Neill and Dan Eves to challenge Plato.
03:11So, across the curve, they come out of Clark.
03:14Curve and it's still Plato who leads.
03:16Matt Neill in second place.
03:17Rob Collard holding on well at the moment.
03:19Dan Eves has gone past Sean Watson-Smith.
03:21Then it's Ivan Muller and James Thompson.
03:23The two VX racing teammates who are battling for the championship very close together.
03:28And they've got one of the MGs in there.
03:29I think it's Anthony Reid trying to get past James Thompson.
03:32He's on the inside as they head up towards Duffer's Dip and head down into the right-hand.
03:39In fact, it's Turkington.
03:39Turkington on the inside there.
03:41And he gets through past James Thompson.
03:43That was a great move.
03:44He set that up down at the hairpin.
03:46Got a good drag out of it.
03:47That's where he incurred the penalty in the first race for passing Thompson under a yellow flag
03:51and demoted him back down the grid.
03:54But he is still carrying the success balance that he would have finished with in second place.
03:58A couple of cars running wide, kicking up the dust.
04:01But Jason Plato is caping to the tarmac and just onto the curve on the exit of the corners.
04:06Ivan Muller now trying to get past Sean Watson-Smith.
04:08We go on board with the Frenchman.
04:10He's on the outside now.
04:11They're coming to the slowest corner.
04:12The Taylor's Hairpin.
04:13It's hard on the brakes here.
04:14Down to first gear to scrabble around.
04:17He's still trying to get around the outside.
04:18But Sean Watson-Smith in that Proton is keeping their speed up.
04:22Oh, they almost bashed door handles there.
04:24Now hitting up high up the hill.
04:25There's a lot of acceleration required from the engine before they level off here
04:29and get into the braking zone for the first corner.
04:31Every time Bullock does this, he's taking the championship in his hands.
04:35He can't risk a non-finish.
04:36And there he concedes to Sean Watson-Smith, who gets very sideways.
04:39Not once, but twice as they approach McIntyre.
04:42So now there's four cars all amongst each other.
04:45Yeah, and Tom Chilton's joined.
04:46And Thompson's off.
04:47Thompson's been tough by somebody.
04:49Can he get back on circuit?
04:50I'm not sure.
04:50Yes, yeah.
04:51Well, he might do.
04:51Yeah, there he is.
04:52He's gone back on in front of James Kaye, but he's lost a lot of time.
04:56Sean Watson-Smith, Ivan Muller.
04:58Then it's Colin Turkington.
04:59Then it's Tom Chilton, Anthony Reid.
05:01And Thompson's dropped a lot of places.
05:03Yeah, that was an unfortunate tack-tack from behind.
05:05But the ground, the grass is so rough, it just ripped his splitter off.
05:09Has it damaged the radiators?
05:10That's what put Rob Huff out of the first race.
05:12It'll certainly compromise his speed.
05:14Muller's fighting back.
05:15At this time, he may have the inside on Watson-Smith.
05:17But that proton's very quick on the straight.
05:20It is fast in the straight line.
05:21Look how it accelerates away out of that hairpin, up the hill, across the finish line.
05:26And at three laps completed, it's Jason Plato still leading this race.
05:30From Dan Eves, from Rob Collard.
05:32Matt Neill, sorry, in second place.
05:33Then Collard, then Eves.
05:34Tom Chilton coming through there.
05:36Watch out for that black Honda because it's been fast all weekend.
05:39Take another look at this.
05:40Well, Chilton's just looking up the inside of Thompson on the exit from McIntyre.
05:45That's where he got past in the first race.
05:47And it just isn't enough room.
05:48He tags Thompson, slides him sideways.
05:51Now, Sean Watson-Smith still there.
05:54Wide line than Muller there.
05:55And that could have cost the proton a bit of time.
05:58Muller will try and take advantage of that with a bit more momentum build-up.
06:01But here we are, same situation.
06:03About 120 miles an hour in top gear as they head down here.
06:06Muller looks to the inside, but Sean Watson-Smith has it covered.
06:09Trying to get around the outside is Colin Turkeyton.
06:11And he's made this trip work a couple of times.
06:13There's a little bit of noting again, but still Muller cannot get past Sean Watson-Smith.
06:18Oh, and the problem is he's attacking and then having to defend at the same time.
06:22And look at this, Turkeyton on one side, Chilton looking up the other, getting very close.
06:27Dan Eves having a go at getting past Collard for third as well.
06:30Muller just keeps Turkeyton behind him.
06:33Turkeyton with the red strip across the windscreen in the black and silver MG
06:37is driving brilliantly, but he can't find a way past former champion, or reigning champion, Ivan Muller.
06:43Behind him is Tom Chilton.
06:45Chilton in the number nine car.
06:46The Honda had a great result in the first race, ended up finishing second after Turkington was demoted.
06:52And Chilton has been using the curbs like no one else here this weekend.
06:56Through that chicane, Tom Chilton is the fastest car on the track.
06:59He's absolutely got that corner nailed.
07:02Marco Posa down, and he just flies up the inside.
07:04Oh, disaster for Carl Brees and the GA Motorsport Alpha.
07:08Yeah, it's end of race for that car, I'm afraid, but back on board with Ivan Muller.
07:13This is the situation we've seen for a couple of laps.
07:16Now he gets a better exit from the hairpin, but loses out in straight line speed.
07:19But now, look, side by side.
07:21Meanwhile, Dan Eves trying to get past Collard, and Muller is past.
07:24Muller has got ahead of Sean Watson-Smith just behind.
07:26There he is, look, the Vauxhall ahead of the Proton.
07:29And now it's the MG of Colin Turkington trying to do the same.
07:32The South African driving that Proton, doing a brilliant job.
07:35It's his job to try and hold on to his position.
07:37He's not doing anything wrong.
07:39He's placing the car well, and it's up to them to find a way past.
07:42Absolutely, he's racing for position, and he'll fight for every one of them.
07:45But they're going to gang up on him.
07:47Turkington will want to pass as quickly as possible,
07:49so as not to let Muller get away.
07:51Reid is patiently waiting at the back of this queue.
07:53He's only moved up one place from his starting position of 10th.
07:57And he's not out of this championship, so he'll want to score good points.
08:00Here comes Colin Turkington trying the outside route once again.
08:03But he's got to watch out from inside.
08:05Yeah, Anthony Reid.
08:06No, no, there's contact there between Chiltern and Turkington.
08:08Reid almost collected them, and somehow they're all still going.
08:12It's such a tight corner, that is, and Chiltern trying to look up the inside.
08:16Reid looking up inside of him, and nearly at the tip.
08:18Oh, and that's Turkington with steering problems.
08:20Yeah, that car's crabbing.
08:21It's not looking healthy at all.
08:23Reid then, and Tom Chiltern.
08:25Look at Rob Huff.
08:25Rob Huff has joined the party from, remember, he started right at the back in the Seat,
08:29and he's now there with Tom Chiltern.
08:32He's in 10th place.
08:33That's been a good drive so far from Rob Huff.
08:35How many more can he get past his teammate?
08:38Jason Plato leads this race.
08:39The Ken, right over the kerbs, all on the grass there.
08:43Let's just take a look again at that last little incident.
08:46This is an on-board with Anthony Reid as they go down the back straight from Clarke to the hairpin.
08:50Watch in front.
08:52Reid is looking for an opportunity.
08:54Chiltern is looking for an opportunity, and dives up the inside.
08:57There's Turkington on the outside.
08:59Reid slams up the inside, moves Chiltern out, and then Chiltern hits Turkington,
09:03and that breaks his suspension.
09:05Yeah, here was another look at it again.
09:07Turkington on the outside.
09:09Reid went for the late lunch, hit Chiltern.
09:11That knocked Chiltern into Turkington.
09:13So Reid was almost the cause of his T-bet going out of this race,
09:16but thankfully, well, in fact, Turkington has gone out, hasn't he?
09:19Because we know he's limping round, and I think...
09:21Oh, look at that!
09:23Chiltern! Nearly over!
09:25Well, so close to rolling over there, Chiltern.
09:28That's short wheelbase, the little car, the Honda,
09:31and he's been riding the kerbs,
09:32but that time he just launched it up in two-wheel stunts fashion.
09:36Well, that was so close to disaster.
09:38Well, I saw that a couple of times in qualifying yesterday.
09:40He had it up on two wheels.
09:41He is not scared.
09:42He is so committed.
09:43Look at this again.
09:44Over the kerbs.
09:45Up it went.
09:46And I tell you what, he did that a few times in qualifying yesterday.
09:49But fantastic commitment from Tom Chiltern.
09:52There is our race leader.
09:53It is Jason Plato coming up to complete eight laps this time around.
09:57Out of the 22, he has a lead of 1.6 seconds over Matt Neill.
10:00Third place is Rob Collard holding on to third.
10:03That's a fantastic effort.
10:04Behind him is Dan Eves.
10:06And heading down towards Douglas Dipperall.
10:09Board there briefly with Jason Plato.
10:11Now we're looking at Rob Huff, and he's getting past.
10:12He's gone past Tom Chiltern.
10:14Chiltern with bits of bodywork trailing, and the Seat is through.
10:17Well, good driving from Rob Huff right from the back.
10:20He made a nonsense at the first race with an ambitious overtaking manoeuvre.
10:25But he's shown, oh, and Bullard slipped through as well.
10:28Chiltern's car is definitely not handling as well as it was at the start of the race.
10:31That's Turkington's car being pushed away.
10:34You can see the right rear wheel pointing at a very odd angle.
10:37Yeah, so suspension damage on that car, I'm afraid.
10:40And now look at this.
10:42Luke Hines in there with Tom Chiltern.
10:45He's gone past Tom Chiltern.
10:47Bullard still running in fifth place.
10:48But James Thompson is down in 13th position after that problem he had.
10:53And in fact, Thompson's come into the pits.
10:55Thompson now into the pits.
10:56Take another look at this a moment ago.
10:58So that was Hines, in fact, was Hines getting through past Chiltern
11:01and just squeezing his way past.
11:04A fairly aggressive manoeuvre, but it worked well.
11:06And that put him through and gained a position.
11:08So Hines now running in ninth place, Chiltern in tenth.
11:11But this is the race for third place.
11:14And Dan Eves has now gone ahead of Rob Collard.
11:17And right behind Collard now is Frenchman Ivan Muller.
11:20James Thompson led the championship by one point before this race.
11:24He's going to lose it again to Ivan Muller if Muller stays where he is.
11:27This race was always going to lock it, was always going to provide the action.
11:32And it certainly has in this second race.
11:34This is Anthony Reid up the inside of Watson Smith.
11:37So Anthony Reid has gained sixth place.
11:40He's in sixth position.
11:41He's now going to go chasing after Ivan Muller.
11:43But there's a big gap between himself and Muller.
11:46Muller's managed to ease away from this group.
11:48And there we are.
11:48There's Muller and that next group.
11:50And now trying to get past Rob Collard.
11:51That's the gap back to Reid.
11:53Watson Smith and Huff.
11:54Little contact there between Rob Huff and Watson Smith.
11:57They're still side by side as they come up the hill.
11:59Both these cars have strong engines.
12:01That's Seat.
12:01Very quick and a straight line.
12:02Look at Muller.
12:03He muscles his way past Collard.
12:05Ivan Muller is into fourth place.
12:07And this could be a crucial race in the championship.
12:10Thompson is out.
12:11Muller could be on for some very useful points here.
12:14Looking back from Anthony Reid at Rob Huff.
12:17And Huff now trying to take sixth place away from the man who won the first race.
12:22And is carrying maximum ballast in that MG.
12:24Look how fast Huff comes through that corner.
12:27Such a different line.
12:28And he's forced Reid to defend to the inside into Collard.
12:31Thompson is going round.
12:32But he's not going to get any points.
12:33Collard.
12:34Collard's retiring.
12:35Collard in trouble.
12:36And now look at this.
12:37Reid going through with Huff side by side.
12:40They've got past Collard.
12:41So Collard drops down the order.
12:43But Huff so fast in a straight line.
12:45Can Anthony Reid come back up the inside?
12:47He's got to try.
12:47Yes.
12:48Oh, that's clever racing, but he's lost it on the exit of the corner.
12:51Don't know what happened there.
12:52Almost as though he missed a gear.
12:54But something happened.
12:55And Reid loses out performance on the way up the hill.
12:57And Huff now has got himself into sixth position.
13:01And it's now fifth place.
13:02In fact, Heinz right behind him.
13:04Reid, Watson Smith.
13:05As we look back at Watson Smith from Anthony Reid's car.
13:08Anthony Reid, as you say, I think he missed the gear.
13:10He's braking so hard and turning.
13:12He probably couldn't quite get it down in the first gear.
13:14And was slow out for hairpin.
13:16And then got jumped by Huff.
13:17Who's driven brilliant.
13:18Got up to fifth place now.
13:20Well, this is touring car racing at its best.
13:23And after a two-year break from Monocchio, it's fantastic to see them back here.
13:28Rob Collard sadly retired because he was on for a great result.
13:31The Independents, who won the championship for privateers last year.
13:35We gather he may be coming back out on circuit.
13:38But, of course, he won't be scoring many points as a result of all this.
13:41Now, there's Jason Plato.
13:43It's 1.9 seconds his advantage over Matt Neal and Dan Eves.
13:47The two Hondas here, Tim, running very, very well, aren't they, behind the Seat of Plato.
13:51They are running well.
13:52They had that tactical first race to give them good grip position, of course.
13:55And not too much ballast either.
13:57So, I had expected them to give the Seat of Jason Plato a slightly stronger run.
14:02They'll be pleased with second and a third.
14:03But Matt Neal only knows one way to race.
14:06He wants to win races.
14:07Well, Jason Plato, we're riding on board with the former champion.
14:11And, you know, when he came here a couple of years ago, back in 2001,
14:15he helped Vauxhall, in those days he was driving for them,
14:18wrap up the manufacturer's title that year with successes here at Not Kill.
14:22And Jason happy to be back in Scotland, leading this race, looking for his fifth win of the season.
14:27And that could be more than anybody else, including all the Vauxhall drivers.
14:30So, Seat's campaign very much on track.
14:33Their first season in the British Championship.
14:36And they are working their way very cleverly up the championship table.
14:40There in second place is Matt Neal.
14:42Dan Eves in third.
14:43And then Ivan Muller in fourth position.
14:46And, of course, Ivan Muller's just counting those championship points that he can gain here,
14:50even if he stays in fourth place and being eight points.
14:53Chilton is retiring.
14:54Yeah.
14:54That car just too badly damaged now to continue.
14:57He's been fighting a rearguard action.
14:59He's actually had James Kay in the other Honda, the Synchro Honda, the third of the Hondas out there,
15:04catching up as to, it looks like he's just got too much damage there,
15:08probably to the inlet, to the engine.
15:09Great disappointment.
15:10He's driven brilliantly well and attacked this circuit with gusto, I have to say.
15:15There's Sean Watson-Smith now with James Kay right behind him,
15:19on board with Ivan Muller, what a fantastic shot, looking straight into the eyes of Ivan.
15:23He's in fourth place, remember.
15:25He's a little bit behind Dan Eves, but he can focus on scoring those eight points
15:31that will put him seven ahead of his big rival, James Thompson, in the championship.
15:36Well, he may look very calm inside the car,
15:38but I can assure you his heart beats up around the 180-200 mark.
15:41He's so desperate, he wants points from these races.
15:45He wants to get a clear gap, if he can, in the championship lead,
15:48but I still think there's a lot to go.
15:50It may not have been James Thompson's race this time, but it may be next.
15:53Such is the nature of this close racing.
15:55Now, he's coming up to that tricky chicane here, Tim.
15:57Talk us through it.
15:58Well, he's going through the little dip.
15:59Now, he's aiming at the chicane.
16:01Well, we didn't stay on board.
16:02He's actually driving quite a cautious line there.
16:05He's obviously decided not to attack too hard and save the car.
16:09There's not too much time between races.
16:10The last thing he wants to do is give the mechanics a problem,
16:13but he's still trying to just hope the race comes to him,
16:16hope his tyres last the distance better than Dan Eves, the man in front.
16:2014 laps have been completed out of the 22.
16:22Two-thirds distance then, and still Ivan Muller chasing after Dan Eves in the Honda.
16:28The two orange Hondas there.
16:29It's Plato, though, that leads in the yellow Seat.
16:32But second place is Matt Neal, and that gap up to 2.4 seconds now.
16:37Although Matt Neal's a bit faster than Plato on that last lap.
16:40Plato really just controlling the pace of this race.
16:43We look back from Muller, we can see there is Rob Huff.
16:45And what a drive this is because he started from the back,
16:48and we're just taking a look back at what happened a few moments ago.
16:52Fariq Harriman, well, he's damaged a few splitters throughout the course of 2004.
16:56That's another one to add to the pile.
16:58Absolutely.
16:58As I said, that grass, very bumpy, very rough.
17:01And any trip onto the grass is going to rip the splitter straight off.
17:05So Fariq Harriman bouncing his way across the grass.
17:08His teammate here, Sean Watson-Smith, still in the top ten.
17:11He's in eighth place.
17:11So this would almost match one of his best results of the year.
17:14He had a seventh earlier on this season.
17:16Would get him back into the points once again.
17:19And there we are, on board with Matt Neal.
17:21The tall man, crouched up over the steering wheel.
17:24But he gets some performance out of these touring cars.
17:26Well, he's driven like that.
17:28It may look uncomfortable, but he's had absolutely no choice.
17:30At six foot three, he's had no choice but to drive all his life like that, with his knees up around his earlugs.
17:37So he's really got used to it.
17:40Well, heading down towards McIntyre.
17:42This gives us a great view of the circuit and the curves as they get used.
17:45Here we are, up to that chicane again.
17:47Yep, the car compresses down.
17:49It's completely blind, as you can see.
17:50You just line the car up, fire it through there.
17:53Try and get on a steady throttle to keep the car pointing in the right direction.
17:56And then immediately you're down to this next corner, Clark, which again rises over a crest.
18:01Yeah, and now he's building up to speed, up to sixth gear, as they accelerate along this section and towards Taylor's hairpin.
18:08And then from about just under 120 miles an hour, all the way down the gears,
18:12until they come down to about 40 miles an hour around here.
18:14And this long hill doesn't maybe look so much on camera, but it's quite a steep climb.
18:19It's a steep climb from first all the way up to sixth.
18:22Oh, and the safety car is out.
18:23This is going to compress the whole field.
18:25This is Jason Plato's nightmare.
18:27This is what happened to him at Mondello Park.
18:30And as soon as that happened, the field closed up and he was absolutely annihilated on the restart.
18:36So Jason Plato leads.
18:37Matt Neill is in second.
18:38Dan Eves is in third.
18:39There's plenty more action to come from Knock Hill.

20:21Look at that.
20:21Hello.
20:22I got something for you.
20:23Pop diva Christina Aguilera has been spotted making a different kind of music.

21:28That's the car I want.
21:29Oh, really?
21:30How much?
21:31That much.
21:44Cost.
21:45How much does it cost?
21:47The Peugeot 206 Zest from just $7,995 with one year's free insurance.
22:02Sponsored by Green Flag Motoring Assistance.
22:04The Breakdown Specialists.
22:12Up the hill towards the chicane, and Jason Plato has just taken the green flag, and he's leading here from Matt and Neil.
22:20Dan Eves in third place, fourth place, Ivan Moller, and then Rob Huff in fifth position.
22:26Jason, I don't think, was very happy about the safety car coming out, but nonetheless, he's maintained the lead.
22:31Somebody very wide on the grass there.
22:32That's John George in the Peugeot.
22:34Yes, on the restart, Jason Plato managed to get away, but he's got both those competencies with Halfords.
22:39Honda's right behind him.
22:41This is where Matt and Neil often gets into his stride when he's got a sniff of victory.
22:45But look at that man, Rob Huff, who started right at the back, and he's now in fifth place with a very fast Seat underneath him.
22:51Across the line they cut this time.
22:52That's 20 laps completed out of the 22.
22:55Jason Plato still in control.
22:57Across the line with about four-tenths of a second over Matt and Neil.
23:02Dan Eves in third, Ivan Moller still there as well.
23:04And remember, James Thompson not going to score any points at all after ending this race in the pits.
23:10And Plato does not seem to be under too much trouble here, even though he's got Matt and Neil.
23:14But what about Rob Huff?
23:15Rob Huff might have a chance here of getting past Ivan Moller.
23:18He's got down the inside.
23:19It's a clock.
23:20He's hit him.
23:21Slid into him slightly there.
23:22Could have damaged the voxel.
23:23Steering Huff onto the grass.
23:25And that's pretty dramatic stuff.
23:27But Huff now in fourth position.
23:29Well, I mean, Ivan Moller will not like that one bit.
23:32He doesn't like anybody racing him too closely when he's going for the championship.
23:35He's fighting back.
23:36Rob Huff may have some damage to his car.
23:39What a shame that he's driven brilliantly.
23:41He got a good run.
23:42He's got a run through the chicane.
23:43He's gone up the inside trying to make a clean pass and get alongside.
23:47But locked the brakes up a fraction and ran into Ivan.
23:51Across.
23:51So, Jason Plato into Duffers dip.
23:53Matt Neil that bit closer.
23:54We're on to the last lap now.
23:55And Luke Hines now getting down the inside of Rob Huff.
23:58So, Rob Huff dropping back again.
24:01And he's right back.
24:02The race distance is 24 laps.
24:03So, they've got a couple more laps to go because of the safety car incident.
24:07Rob Huff now finding himself pushed backwards as he fights to keep his car under control.
24:12That line through the chicane.
24:13Very quick.
24:13He's got another run here on the MG.
24:15This is a carbon copy replay.
24:17This time, he's safely through.
24:19And he's back past Reid.
24:21Oh, it's so tight between all of them.
24:23Anthony Reid now after winning earlier on trying to come back at him.
24:26But Jason Plato still with the edge over Matt Neil and Dan Eaves.
24:30These three cars have been broken away again from Ivan Moller.
24:33On board with Anthony.
24:34And Anthony Reid trying to go all the way around the outside of Rob Huff.
24:37Can't be done.
24:37Luke Hines just ahead of them.
24:39And Huff versus Hines.
24:41Two of the youngsters in the Touring Car Championship this year making their names.
24:45And Anthony Reid right behind them hoping to perhaps get past him in the remainder of this race.
24:49So, now there are just two laps to go.
24:51My mistake on that now that they've added the safety car laps onto the race distance.
24:56And down the hill they come.
24:57And Hines with Rob Huff trying to go around.
24:58It's outside.
25:00But it can't happen.
25:01Here comes Matt Neil.
25:02Mounting a last couple of lap challenge.
25:04This is what Jason Plato didn't want.
25:07He didn't want to be under pressure with the last couple of laps on.
25:10I think his best chance of blasting is into the hairpin.
25:13But he may leave that to the last lap.
25:15The Honda is quick on the straight.
25:16But so is the Seat.
25:18Yeah, fast in a straight line.
25:20Plato is able to just ease away a touch as he comes down towards the hairpin.
25:25And then on to the brakes.
25:26Down to first gear once again.
25:28And Plato who won the last two races at Croft.
25:32Now looking to add to that tally even more.
25:33Up the hill he comes with the two Hondas chasing.
25:36I wonder if he's going to be able to do it twice again today.
25:39We've got another race still to go here today.
25:41Don't forget.
25:42And we're going to have that live here on ITV 4 o'clock this afternoon.
25:45At the moment though Jason is in control.
25:48But Matt Neil's that touch closer.
25:50And this really is the last lap now.
25:51And Matt Neil having a little bit more.
25:54Plato having to defend now.
25:55He's got some work to do if he's to hold these two Hondas back.
25:59Plato needs to drive a perfect second half this lap.
26:02There's really this last but one corner clerk.
26:05He must execute this perfectly to get a good run down to the hairpin.
26:08To avoid Matt Neil getting a chance to pass.
26:10He looks to have done it well.
26:11The SEAT power will carry him through.
26:13Will he defend the inside or is he confident he's got enough pace?
26:16Well this is the last time they come down to the hairpin.
26:20So Matt Neil is running out of opportunities.
26:22He's not going to make the lunge.
26:24He knows that there's a third race to come.
26:26He does not want to damage the car.
26:28And all three of them are driving cleanly.
26:30They want their cars in one piece.
26:31They will start up front for the second, third race of the day.
26:34But they win.
26:34Jason Plato wins at Not Kill.
26:37Second goes to Matt Neil.
26:38Third to Danis.
26:39There's Rob.
26:40Huff's father.
26:41Peter cheering his man home because Rob Huff finished in sixth place.
26:45But Luke Hines finished fifth.
26:47And that was a good run from him.
26:48Sean Watson-Smith in eighth place behind Anthony Reid.
26:52And what an amazing race that was.
26:54Brilliantly driven by Jason Plato.
26:56But with action throughout.
26:58There was some fantastic touring car racing in there.
27:00I have to take my hat off to Plato.
27:02I didn't think he'd be able to hold the Hondas behind.
27:04But he drove really well.
27:06And behind it was action aplenty with everybody fighting for positions.
27:10Buller will be relieved to have finished fourth.
27:13Well I tell you what.
27:14There are thousands of people here at Not Kill today.
27:17And they have just witnessed a classic touring car race.
27:19There's no doubt about it.
27:20And in fact I gather that this is the biggest crowd of the century.
27:24In other words since 2000.
27:26That's a pretty impressive turnout of people here at Not Kill.
27:29In beautiful weather conditions.
27:30And they've just witnessed a race that is what touring cars is all about Tim.
27:34And this track seems to bring that to this kind of racing.
27:38Absolutely.
27:38Absolutely.
27:39I mean the drivers love this track.
27:40It always makes great racing.
27:42You can pass here.
27:43We've seen it.
27:44Especially if you're prepared to rub just a little bit of body work.
27:46And reverse grids.
27:49The addition of ballast just makes for some great touring car racing.
27:54Up the hill towards the pits he comes.
27:57Jason Plato really, really happy about it.
28:00And well I think there's going to be some more celebrations with Sayad.
28:06We'll just see if we can have a try and have a quick word with him.
28:09Ben calling Jason.
28:10Jason can you hear us from the commentary box?
28:17That was a brilliant race.
28:18Well done mate.
28:21Thanks Ben.
28:22Thank you very much.
28:23I thought we were going to get nobbled on the safety car again then.
28:25But it'll see the workout.
28:27Great result for the team.
28:30Well congratulations and maybe you can do it again later on.
28:34Well let's hope so.
28:35I mean it's hard around here with the weight on the car.
28:37So we'll see.
28:38We're in the best possible position anyway.
28:40Well once again then.
28:43Sayad have taken on Vauxhall, MG and Honda.
28:47And they've emerged as victorious.
28:49And that is Jason Plato's fifth win of the season.
28:53He has now won more races than anybody else this year.
28:57And that's pretty impressive when you consider that this is Sayad's first season in British touring cars.
29:02So play to the winner.
29:04Matt Neill in second place.
29:05Dan Eves finished in third.
29:07Ivan Muller finished fourth ahead of Luke Hines and Rob Huff.
29:11Anthony Reid was seventh.
29:12Sean Watson Smith in eighth.
29:13James Kaye was ninth.
29:15And Jason Hughes scored the final point for tenth place.
29:19Disappointment of course though for James Thompson.
29:22And Ivan Muller scoring eight points for that fourth place finish.
29:26Now moves seven points ahead in the championship.
29:29That's the biggest gap there's been in the whole of this championship.
29:32Believe it or not.
29:33Muller and Thompson have not been separated by more than five points the whole year.
29:37So in relative terms that's a comfortable lead for Muller.
29:40Well we're going to be live back at Notkill at four o'clock this afternoon.
29:45But we've got Speed Sunday on before that with Jason Plato test driving the Audi RSQ from the new movie iRobot.
29:52That's followed at 3pm by the World Rally Highlights from Finland.
29:56But later on this afternoon we'll be back here at Notkill with all of the action from race three of the day.
30:04So we're looking forward to that.
30:05Can Jason Plato do it again?
30:07Join us then from Vicki Butler-Henison, from Tim Harvey and myself Ben Edwards.
30:11We'll see you later.
30:12Thank you for being here.
30:13He goes up and do it to us.
