00:00Familiar-looking top three there, but in the coveted tenth spot, which becomes pole for race two, is Anthony Reid.
00:06However, he's got a few engine problems. Can he get them sorted before race two? Find out after the break.

04:09Calvin Burt is pushed away from the grid for race two, but Vicky and Tim are on the front row.
04:15Well, good to see Anthony Reid has made it.
04:17The boys have done well with the engine.
04:20Yeah, still some anxious faces.
04:21Not exactly sure what the problem was.
04:23They've changed all the fuel rails, the ECU, all the electronics that control the engine.
04:27Hopefully, it'll run cleanly this time.
04:29Now, I know that we thought that Anthony might have been sort of playing the rules a bit,
04:32you know, wanting that tenth spot in the first race, but no.
04:35Yeah, I have to apologise.
04:36I thought he was deliberately backing up the traffic, but he just lost power because the car wasn't running properly.
04:40But he's inherited the pole position, so they'll want the car to run well now.
04:44But I'm not going to try and predict a winner out of this lot because it's just impossible.
04:48Oh, go and try.
04:49Oh, all right. Anthony Reid, then.
04:51Right, here's Ben with the rest of the grid.
04:54Well, alongside Reid, it is Dan Eves in the Honda,
04:57but right behind are the two Seats of Jason Plato and Rob Huff.
05:00James Kaye made up six places in race one,
05:03and he starts alongside Rob Collard, who's sixth on the grid.
05:06Colin Turkington carrying a lot more ballast than earlier on.
05:08Matt Neill's car also heavy, but not as heavy as the two Vauxhalls of Thompson and Muller.
05:13They really have their work cut out.
05:15Tom Chilton starts 11th.
05:16Kelvin Burt is missing from his slot.
05:18Then Michael Bentwood will hope to out-drag Harriman's Proton from row seven.
05:22Jason Hughes had fuel pressure problems earlier on.
05:24Luke Hines had steering damage, as did Butler Henderson.
05:27But there's others at the back that we have to watch out for,
05:30hopefully coming through throughout the course of this race.
05:32Round 11 of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship,
05:39all set to get underway here at Alton Park.
05:41It's Reid versus Dan Eves on the front row.
05:43Away they go.
05:44Great start from Dan Eves and from Jason Plato in the second row.
05:48Also Colin Turkington coming up through the middle in the MG.
05:50But it's Dan Eves who's got the edge as they go into the first corner,
05:54and Reid has to settle for second place.
05:56Plato's up to third.
05:57Matt Neill on the grass as he comes through Old Hall.
05:59Gets back onto the track safely, trying to make up some ground.
06:03But Matt Neill, of course, carrying quite a lot of ballast
06:05as he comes down towards Cascades, putting the pressure on James Kay.
06:08There's Thompson on the outside.
06:10Muller was on the inside, hasn't made much progress.
06:12And up front, it's Dan Eves with a great opportunity here.
06:16He's never won a British Touring Car race,
06:18but at the moment he's in front of Anthony Reid.
06:20Great start by Dan Eves.
06:22This is a real opportunity for him.
06:23Further back, there's lots of squabbling in the pack.
06:26But three abreast here, both the Seats and Rob Collard
06:29on the inside.
06:30Rob could get this place.
06:31He's on the inside.
06:32He's got the speed down the straight.
06:33Three into one.
06:34Difficult.
06:35Oh, it's tight, tight, tight.
06:38Plato and him make contact, and it's Huff.
06:40It's Huff who suffers, rejoins.
06:43Collard's up to third.
06:44And that's interesting, because Plato and Collard
06:46had a war of words in the paddock yesterday,
06:49and it's become a war on track in race two here.
06:52Absolutely, but Collard was in the right place there.
06:55He was on the inside.
06:56It was very tight.
06:57Rob did nothing wrong at all.
06:58He's made another good start like he did in the first race.
07:01Huff went across the grass, and the rules say
07:03that if you don't gain an advantage,
07:05you can carry on and not stop.
07:06If you do look like gaining an advantage,
07:08you have to stop.
07:09But his position's held at the moment.
07:10Matt Neal, meanwhile, getting a bit of a run there
07:13with Colin Turkington.
07:15Neal currently in eighth place,
07:16but it could be that he's going to move up into seventh
07:19because he's got the inside line.
07:21Yeah, despite carrying a lot of weight,
07:23he's managed to out drag Turkington there
07:24and getting cleanly inside him into the Nickelbrook chicane.
07:27So Matt Neal's showing once again what a great racer he is.
07:30He always goes forward.
07:32You very rarely see Matt go backwards in set
07:34when he's carrying weight.
07:36Well, it looked like, oh, big slide there on the turn
07:38in for Rob Collard.
07:39That car is very loose at the back.
07:41That'll have cost him time.
07:42This will give the Seats a chance,
07:44and he's having to defend.
07:45Will Plato try and dive up the inside?
07:48He's looking at it.
07:48The car squirrelly on the brakes.
07:50So just even at the moment,
07:52we can see the Seats, even though they get a run,
07:54they just haven't quite got enough brakes at the moment
07:57to outmanoeuvre Rob Collard.
07:59Well, Rob Collard driving superbly well at the moment,
08:02keeping these two work cars behind him.
08:04The man who won the Independent Championship last year
08:06and determined to get a good overall finish on this occasion.
08:10Third for him, fourth for Plato,
08:11fifth for Rob Huff,
08:13and then in sixth place going well
08:14is James Kaye in the Synchro Motorsport Honda.
08:17But Rob Collard having to keep an eye on his mirrors
08:19with Jason Plato right behind,
08:22and then Rob Huff now just moving slightly to the outside.
08:25He's not going to challenge Plato down to the hairpin,
08:27I don't think.
08:28Meanwhile, in trouble, Sean Watson-Smith,
08:29and look at the damage to the front splitter.
08:31Let's just see what happened.
08:33On board with Watson-Smith,
08:34he was dicing with Luke Hines here.
08:36There was just a little bit of contact,
08:38and it was enough to put the Proton onto the grass,
08:41sending him into a big, big spin,
08:43and that, I think, has shredded the front splitter from his car.
08:47There's Luke Hines with rear bodywork trailing,
08:50just a headstill of Michael Benswood.
08:52They're running 13th and 14th.
08:53Plato's got an inside overlap now on Collard,
08:56but Collard's a bit quicker out of the hairpin,
08:58and I think he may be able to cover it back again.
09:01Oh, this is exciting stuff.
09:02Remember, oh dear, oh dear,
09:05moving across to take the inside.
09:07He's just had enough to move across,
09:09but it's getting very tight.
09:10That was very tight.
09:12We've seen that manoeuvre end in tears a lot of times,
09:15but it looked as though Rob just had enough of an overlap to move over,
09:19or he had some cooperation from Jason just lifting a little bit,
09:24but that could so easily have been turning the car into the barriers,
09:27but Plato's putting the pressure on.
09:29It's so intriguing, this battle between the two of them,
09:32who had a real argument just around the time
09:35the driver's briefing yesterday,
09:37and Jason had been making some comments
09:40about people getting in the way.
09:41Oh, and they're side by side through Lodge Corner.
09:44Very clean, I have to say, from both of them.
09:46Fantastic driving again.
09:48Very clean, but Plato now has the inside line for Old Hall.
09:52This could be his opportunity.
09:53Down on the brakes they go,
09:55and Huff's going to follow in through if he can,
09:57and Collard's going to lose two places in one.
09:59Oh, no, they're both off.
10:01Oh, this could be a big hit.
10:03What a shame,
10:04because that had been such a great dice between these three cars,
10:08and Rob Collard and Rob Huff end up in the tyres on the exit of Old Hall Corner.
10:13Jason Plato's up into third place,
10:16fourth place now for James Kaye,
10:18and fifth place for Matt Neal.
10:20That was really unfortunate for both Rob Huff.
10:23They come into the corner.
10:24Huff is trying to get down the inside with his teammate,
10:27and I think it's OK until just here.
10:29There's a little bit of contact,
10:30and that fires the cars off left.
10:32Normally, the cars can run side by side through.
10:35They've just run out on the plastic grass,
10:36but they just made contact,
10:39and that got them out in the wrong direction,
10:41pointing at the outside into the grass,
10:43and then they were passengers,
10:44but hopefully they're both OK.
10:49Rob, what was going on?
10:51Jason made a move up the inside of Rob.
10:54I was close enough to Jason to follow him through,
10:56and then on the exit of the corner,
10:58I mean, Rob's just been like it all weekend.
10:59He bolted James yesterday in qualifying,
11:01and then today, you know, he's trying to...
11:04Jason's up the inside of him down the back straight.
11:05He's trying to push Jason on the grass,
11:07and then, yeah, I've got the run on the inside of him.
11:09I was fast at him coming out of the corner,
11:10but he didn't, you know, didn't want none of it,
11:13and just planted his car,
11:14and just kept turning right,
11:15and just took me off the track
11:16and took himself with us.
11:19Going very slowly as they come out of Lodge Corner.
11:22The safety car ready to go into the pits.
11:24Is it?
11:25They're waiting.
11:26They're waiting.
11:27Yes.
11:27Last-minute call there.
11:28Last-minute decision.
11:29They had to clear everything at Old Hall.
11:31The safety car in,
11:33and Danny gets going,
11:35and he puts his foot down
11:36and makes a little bit of a break.
11:37Bad restart from Anthony Reid,
11:39and it means that Jason Plato's
11:40trying to go all the way around the outside.
11:42Plato moving up into second place.
11:44He's through.
11:45If he can hold it,
11:46get it back from the grass,
11:47and it looks as though Plato's done it.
11:49He's into second.
11:50Reid gets pushed down to third,
11:51and James Thompson now is the next
11:53to put the pressure on the MG.
11:55Well, I'm fairly sure,
11:56looking at that restart,
11:57that Reid has not got 100% performance out of that MG.
12:01He was slow away,
12:03and he's just struggling a little bit
12:04on the straights, I think,
12:05but at least he and Plato proved
12:07that you can go side-by-side through Old Hebbin
12:10with a bit of cooperation.
12:11Yeah.
12:12Meanwhile, behind them,
12:13Tom Chilton getting squeezed out a little bit.
12:15That was Muller trying to get past Chilton
12:16in the background,
12:17and still behind him at the moment
12:19as they come down the hill.
12:20Thompson now under pressure from Matt Neal
12:22for fourth place,
12:23and right behind them is Turkington
12:25and Charlie Butler-Henderson's in there as well,
12:29a bit further back.
12:30So this is good battling.
12:31Chilton, Muller, then Charlie Butler-Henderson,
12:33and then behind him Luke Hines, James Kay.
12:35All of these cars, of course,
12:37close right up together again
12:38as a result of the safety car being out there.
12:40And behind them,
12:41I can see Farik Harriman in the Proton
12:43coming under pressure from Justin Keane as well.
12:46Thompson and Matt Neal in the back of fourth place.
12:49You can see how that weight again is affecting Thompson.
12:51He's not able to stay with the top three.
12:53But what a great restart from Dan Eaves.
12:56Oh, and Plato sideways there
12:57as Matt Neal gets down the inside of Thompson,
13:00and he takes fourth place.
13:02Yeah, good clean move.
13:03Thompson trying to cut back,
13:04but he won't have the acceleration on that car
13:06with the 30 kilos of weight in it against Matt Neal.
13:09You can see Matt pulling away across the star finish line.
13:11So good clean move by Matt.
13:13Takes him up to fourth place.
13:15Yeah, well, he'll hope to move up a bit further
13:18if he can and get past Anthony Reid,
13:20who's currently holding on to third place.
13:22But behind them,
13:23there's a good little battle going on as well
13:25between Colin Turkington on the inside there.
13:27Tom Chilton trying to go up around the outside
13:29as they come down towards the hairpin.
13:32Chilton, of course,
13:33race winner from Silverstone last time out.
13:35Now finding his work cut out.
13:37He's currently running in seventh place
13:39just behind the young Irishman, Turkington.
13:42Reid, meanwhile,
13:43down towards Nickerbrook corner.
13:45And Matt Neal chasing that MG for all he's worth,
13:48trying to get past him if possible.
13:49And this is a good run from Neal,
13:51considering he's carrying quite a lot of ballast
13:53from the first race of the day.
13:55That Honda seems to be carrying the weight
13:57a little better here at Alton Park
13:59than we have seen on some previous occasions.
14:02Up towards Druid.
14:03Reid still defending the road,
14:05but not really having to go too much
14:07in the middle of the track.
14:08Neal chasing him on the exit
14:10of that 100 mile an hour right-hander
14:12and up towards Lodge corner.
14:13Can he get anywhere near him on the brakes?
14:15I don't think he's close enough.
14:17Reid again has the position.
14:20He's able to turn in ahead of Matt Neal.
14:22Meanwhile, behind them, James Thompson,
14:24no doubt, will be hoping
14:25that the two of them come to blows
14:27as they did last time out at Silverstone.
14:29And behind is still Turkington versus Chilton.
14:32Harriman trying to get off the grass.
14:34He probably could do with some Rallycross tyres,
14:36the amount of time he spends on the grass.
14:39Let's take another look at that.
14:40He came out of the hairpin.
14:41There was a battle with Justin Keane
14:43and he turned around the front of the BMW
14:46and smacked straight into the barriers.
14:48So, end of race for the Malaysian, I'm afraid.
14:51Meanwhile, Anthony Reid is still in third place.
14:53Matt Neal has not managed to find a way past.
14:56And here's Tom Chilton,
14:57still in this battle with Colin Turkington.
14:59It's another MG versus Honda battle
15:01like we've got slightly further up the road.
15:03But Chilton also finding it a bit difficult
15:05to get past the ZS.
15:07But there are no problems for Dan Eves.
15:08He's coming through to take his first ever win
15:11in the British Touring Car Championship.
15:13What a fantastic performance from the 28-year-old.
15:17He's come through, he's done it.
15:18He'll be so pleased about that.
15:21It's the third win of the year
15:22for Computeach Racing with Halfords,
15:24a fourth podium for Plato,
15:26while Reid and McNeil did keep it clean
15:28in their battle for third.
15:30Maluka do little with maximum ballast
15:31here at Alton Park,
15:32but Hines and Butler-Henderson
15:34both made up seven places
15:35on their starting positions.
15:38I bet you were horrified
15:39when you saw the safety car come out
15:40because you had a lovely lead.
15:41Yeah, I said to the team over the radio,
15:43I said, someone doesn't want me
15:45to have an easy win.
15:46The shunt looked pretty nasty,
15:47so I hope Huffy's all right.
15:49He is.
15:50Yeah, good.
15:50So I just got my head down again,
15:53got a good start on the restart
15:54and cleared off.
15:55Brilliant.
15:56And do you think it was a faultless performance from you?
15:59As ever.
16:00Vic, you've been Dan Eves' manager
16:02for a fair few years now.
16:03You must be over the moon.
16:04Yeah, no, it's fantastic.
16:06I mean, Dan's been so loyal to us as a driver.
16:09I mean, we've had some Torrey times, as you know,
16:11and he's just always been there.
16:13He's always had a good word to say,
16:15and I'm so pleased to see him win overall.
16:19He's had some class wins.
16:21We won the Independence Championship in 2002,
16:24and there he was,
16:25and he drove really well to get it.
16:27Me and Jason were having a great race.
16:28I was defending well,
16:30and he got his nose up the inside
16:32coming out or coming down the pit straight here.
16:34I didn't defend, let him through.
16:37We sort of went two abreast into the first corner,
16:40into Old Hall,
16:41thinking everything's going to be OK,
16:43and I might be able to have a little bit of a run on him
16:44down into Cascades,
16:46and Rob Huff just bulldozed me off the track.
16:48This is absolutely ridiculous,
16:50this type of racing at the moment.
16:52These driving standards are just not allowed.
16:54Dan Eves' first touring car win
16:56makes him the seventh different touring car winner
16:59in 11 races, which is terrific.
17:01But not so terrific is the fact that
17:03following Collard and Huff's shunt,
17:05their teams are going to have to race against the clock
17:07to get their cars ready for round 12
17:09of the Green Flag British Touring Car Championship,
17:11which will happen after this break.
