00:00Bedswoods and Plato on the front row, second row Huff and Chilton, we wait for the gantry
00:13lights to come on here at Mondello Park, round 14 of the MSA British Touring Car Championship,
00:17there is the gantry, lights will go on very shortly indeed, we wait for those that kept
00:23them waiting a long time last time, it looks like the guys are going to have to wait a long
00:26time in this run as well, engine notes rise, lights on, lights out at Mondello and the
00:32track lights up as the cars get underway, down towards it, a great stop by the two Sears,
00:37it's Jason Plato on the lead and look at that, fantastic stop by Rob Luff, he's got around
00:41in the second row and he's sideways from the Bedswoods as he comes around the hair pit,
00:44but there's a great stop by Plato, absolutely brilliant, oh, Bedswoods fired off, going into
00:51that tire and he's laughed, but that is a repeat of what happened at Brands Match,
00:55contact there I think with Rob Huff was trying to force the EQ to the second place,
00:59this has given Plato a little bit of a gap, a brilliant lead, he's got Huff in second,
01:03Chilton there, and then, well, that's probably Hines and Thompson I think.
01:07See at one, see at two, look at this, Rob Huff has got a queue of traffic behind him,
01:11couple of voxels thrown in there as well, we've got Muller in it, Huff is just leading them
01:15around, Tom Chilton in the mix as well, in third base, side by side they come out,
01:19Chilton is going to hang on to that place, Chilton's there from Thompson.
01:23Great start, look at Jason Plato who said thanks very much for running away with things at the moment.
01:27Well, Rob Huff's doing good, oh, and that's one of the...
01:29That's what Smith, what Smith's off.
01:31Well, what a shame, he was doing so well this weekend, had he qualified in the best position,
01:36and had a good race, so nearly got the front row start, had he been on the front row,
01:40I dare say he wouldn't have been off at the barriers, but Rob Huff doing the corporate job here for SEAT,
01:45protecting second place, while Jason Plato scampers off into the distance.
01:50Yeah, it's Huff, it's Chilton in the Honda, then we've got the two VX racing Vauxhall Astra Coupes,
01:55and they'll be gagging at the bit to try and come through, there is James Thompson,
01:59running in fourth place at the moment, hunting down Tom Chilton for third place,
02:03Chilton's showing his three pair heels at the moment, in fact, starting to try and get back on terms with Rob Huff and back to that second place.
02:09Yeah, and that man Muller has made up four places already, there he is just coming into your shop,
02:14the back of the three car train of works voxels, there he is, coming to your view there,
02:19so he's made good progress, Reid and Turkington behind him.
02:23Yeah, Muller's on a bit of a charge, you can see the three VX racing Vaux, placed there by James Thompson,
02:27Luke Hines, the meat and the sandwich there, here it is in Muller,
02:29and right in front of him now is Luke Hines,
02:31taking the pictures to break up a little bit as they go down to the air bin,
02:33there's Rob Huff still holding off that Honda, what can he do, the Honda has a look down the inside,
02:38doesn't quite work for him, whoa, you can certainly see Huff is getting a little bit back, he's really kicking up the dirt.
02:42Yeah, he ran wide in that hair bin, that compromise to slide into the left hander,
02:46he's got damage on the front of the wrist, he's got a brake duct hanging off,
02:49but that's not going to make matters worse, but Chilton really needs to try and get past quickly,
02:55if he's to have any chance of catching up with Plato.
02:58Back on board Muller, that's the characteristic shake of the wrist that keeps him relaxed in the car.
03:03He looks very relaxed doesn't he, he's got his two team mates in front of him there, it's the James Thompson,
03:08and of course Luke Hines, Hines kicked up a bit of dirt, doesn't seem to worry Muller,
03:12this is a great on board, Muller has some distance back at the moment,
03:14but of course he's already made up several positions on his start, through they go,
03:17still out front, Jason Plater leading on the first lap, he's filled up 2.341 seconds on the first lap,
03:23over Rob Huff, of course he's got his mirrors full of Tom Chilton, let's go back to that battle now,
03:26here we are, here it's half in the front, Tom Chilton getting closer and closer as he comes down to that corner,
03:31still not in a position to challenge.
03:33Yeah, James Thompson though, absolutely all at sea with the set up of his car, really couldn't find a way to make the car work,
03:40he said this race was going to be an experiment, he was going to put a different set up on the car and try it,
03:45and makes the end of the decision hopefully of the right way to go for the third race,
03:50but it doesn't appear at the moment that it's necessarily the right way to go.
03:55Rob Huff hanging on to that second place at the moment, there is Tom Chilton who is the chaser,
04:00the youngster from Surrey getting it a bit squarely as he comes out of that corner,
04:03you can see how hard it's working, still half fair, and now we've got a queue forming behind Tom Chilton,
04:07a queue of three of the VX Racing Vauxhall Astra Coupes, led by James Thompson, who kicks up into the dirt,
04:14Luke Hines looking pretty useful too, Ivan Munner at the moment just seems to be perhaps biding his time.
04:18Yeah, Ivan will play the waiting game so far, you know, he'll bend his tyres in nicely,
04:24not take too much out of them at the moment, and gain places and positions as the race
04:29develops when the opportunity arises, one thing he won't see that to do is shove people out of the way,
04:34he's a very fair racer, if somebody dishes out to him then he'll give it back,
04:39but he won't initiate anything Ruffhouse, but I'm sure we'll see him getting further.
04:44Anthony Reid has just set the fastest lap on that lap two, lap two and lap three remember when all the
04:48fastest laps are really done. Yeah, so Reid is actually now beginning to close in on Ivan
04:53Muller once again, almost makes you wish we had a rear facing camera as well on Muller's car.
04:57That's the other Patronus and Fariq Herriman, well that's a disappointing second race for the
05:03Patronus team, but... Fariq Herriman, you might say. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure they'll bounce back.
05:07Not nice. Looks like they've had a bit of contact.
05:09Children with a good run here out of Lola on the run down to 7A and 7B corners,
05:15they're just confirmation of Atelier Reid's fastest lap. Let's have a look at the restart here,
05:20you just see initially there Plato gets the traction, gets the grip, a little bit too much wheel spin from
05:26Michael Bentwood on the inside. Rob Huff gets round the outside, gets a bit of a nose in front,
05:33they're then side by side as they approach the left hand, and look, there's the contact. Off goes Bentwood,
05:40and Huff carries on. Bentwood currently running in 17th position, so he's got to make the best of a bad
05:46job in this one and try and get back into the race, try and pull himself back in. His lap time's in the 49s,
05:51and he's trying to close in on Carl Brees in the Alfa Romeo, not really making a lot of progress on that
05:56at the moment, but as we said, damage limitation exercise for him. Yeah, Reid very wide through that
06:01tricky corner before the last double up hairpin, very wide. The person who's lost out really is
06:07Matt Neill. He's lost three places on these hoping backs, so far from seeing a charge from Matt in
06:14and he's actually dropped back and he's got Rube James Cain right off his bumper. Thompson's starting
06:18to look a little bit more aggressive now to me in that fourth position, and looking as if he might
06:22have a little nibble at Tom Chilton as they came through those opening turns. The Honda hairpin,
06:28now as they head up towards turn three, but back with Jason Paye, so good lead still over Rob Huff,
06:33up to 2.62 seconds. Thompson coming off line there, having a little look, speculative stuff at this
06:37stage, can't quite do anything. Now he's got Luke Hines as well, on board with Muller, you can see his two
06:42teammates in front of him, working hard, can he close them down and make up any more ground over them.
06:48So on board with Muller, the race, the championship leader, race one winner today, working hard,
06:54doing a great job. Back we go with Rob Huff, battling for second place, Tom Chilton, the black car,
07:02the Honda Civic Type R, who's chasing him down, hasn't been able to make any real goes at the lead,
07:08but having said that, he takes a very tight line there, Huff going wide, confident from Huff going wide,
07:12out of that corner, really could have, he's just sort of showing, I think, that he thinks he's got
07:15the pace to carry this on. They're really tricky, those two little corners, they look fairly innocuous,
07:20but because you're breaking downhill into the first one, it's very easy to run wide, like Huff did,
07:25and just carry a bit too much speed. That's four still to have to defend very heavily there from
07:30Thompson into MG, getting side by side, but he's not going to get up inside there. Thompson having a look
07:37around the inside of that one, tucks back in again, James Thompson really is on a charge,
07:40Luke Hines is coming up to play as well, here's Huff, there's got to be the breathing space,
07:43but look at Thompson around the outside, side by side with Chilton, can't quite do it, he won't do it
07:47around Dunlop, and now of course he's got Hines all over him as well, side by sides, Hines on the
07:52left-hand side of your picture with the blue visor, Thompson battling with him, they won't want to battle
07:56with each other, they've got to get their heads down and do something about Chilton. Here they come,
07:59into Honda, Chilton dives down, drips a little bit wider, coming back through, on the inside is Thompson,
08:04great battling from the Vauxhalls. Yeah, Luke Hines had the opportunity there to take that place,
08:09but he break too late, unfortunately James saw him coming, let him slide on wide and duck back
08:14underneath him, but he's lost a bit of his bumper there as we see so often with the Vauxhalls, but
08:21that was really back from Thompson trying to attack Chilton into the Dunlop airfield and go around the
08:26outside, which opened the door for Hines, very difficult movement to pull, well what must Muller be
08:31thinking sitting there, he must be laughing his socks off mustn't he, he's just sitting there thinking
08:35I've got a good car, I know what I'm doing, but the problem is he's got Reid right up behind him.
08:40Yeah Muller almost now being pushed along by Reid, let's see what can happen, Reid's in a good place
08:45here, saw how difficult it was for Anthony to challenge Muller last time around, of course now
08:49he's got that extra ballast on board which isn't doing any favours in this race. No exactly, Muller's
08:54racing exactly the same car that he raced in the first race, same weight, same car, same setup,
08:58Reid's actually got an added weight, but I think this is really just a measure of how much Rob Huff is
09:04holding them up really, well Chilton actually has dropped back from Huff, but as the gaps ebb and flow
09:10with mistakes and attacks, as soon as you attack somebody you lose pace because they defend and
09:15you lose time to the cars behind, so the gaps will come and go. As they did indeed in the first race,
09:21it's Tom Chilton still holding on to that third place, the two Seats away in the position at the moment is
09:25Jason Plage, I haven't seen too much of Jason, he's on his own, then it's Rob Huff, then we've got Tom
09:28Chilton here in the third car, there goes Huff just coming through his picks and now heading towards
09:31us, Chilton in the Honda, then it's James Thompson, Luke Hines, oh and Anthony Reid's going down the
09:36inside, Reid's going to try and make, oh can't quite do it, because that's what he tried to do in the
09:39first race today and again not making it sting. Well I talked to Ivan and I said were you fairly
09:45confident that Anthony wasn't going to push you off and he just smiled and winked and he knows that
09:50Anthony's on this potential penalty if he does anything naughty, so I think we're going to see
09:55the same again, but it's so hard for Anthony to control his natural instincts which is to attack,
10:00attack, attack. It's great to see isn't it Anthony, he really is going for it and having a go and keeping
10:04us entertained here today and Ivan Muller is the man that he's trying to overtake, there is Reid,
10:09the Scotsman, the Oxford-based Scotsman trying to chase down the Frenchman but the Seat still out
10:14front and possibly a bit of a cat opening up now between Chilton and Thompson again I think as
10:18Hines gets a bit of a move on. Yeah but this whole group is really catching up, we've got Turkington and
10:23Neil just behind, catching up with Reid and Muller, you know soon we're going to have a sort of eight-car
10:27trade and anything could happen there. Yeah this is going to be a little bit intriguing to watch because
10:32any one of these drivers could get hung out to dry and lose a hat load of places, through they come
10:36again and Siri kicking up the dirt once again as he makes his way through, still trying to chase
10:40down, Ivan Muller in front, Muller with the Vauxhall with the red sunstrip on to identify and Reid with
10:46the venison black sunstrip, still trying to cam down, here he comes under brake and closes up and
10:51Muller looks pretty confident, oh and off goes Neil, Neil's off. That was a brake lock up, can he try and keep it going,
10:56is there some, he may, oh that's a good job, well I think Matt Neil future in a rally car perhaps,
11:02he did very well to keep that going, his teammate Dan Eaves went off earlier on, this is just locking
11:08up, as I said coming down that hill, very easy to run wide because the car's running downhill,
11:13it doesn't want to stop as quickly as possible but well Matt did well to keep that going but lost
11:18obviously a tonne of track position. Jason Plato still out front, Rob Huff in second, then it's Tom
11:23Chilk coming through the picture now in the Honda, then the three Vauxhalls, the right askew bodywork on the
11:28back of James Thompson's Vauxhall in fourth place, he's followed by Luke Hines but here comes Jason
11:32Plato, nice chance to have a look at him coming into Honda, really did profit off the start didn't he,
11:36great start from him and his teammate as well Rob Huff who blasted off the second row of the grid to
11:41come into second place, through goes Chilton again kicking up the dust, very very tricky to overtake and
11:46really relying I guess on perhaps mistakes from the guys in front to be able to get past.
11:50Well mistakes are obviously a little bit of forcing the issue but you know we've still got
11:56several laps there, a lot of laps to go in this race so at the moment people are just still trying
12:00to see how things will pan out but Plato's definitely got a comfortable lead, he's lapping
12:05faster lap by lap than everybody else so he's just stretching it away two or three tenths of a second
12:11every lap and will definitely be in a strong position come the end of this race. Only three drivers
12:17actually lapping in the 149s at the moment, the two say it's ahead of the field but at the other
12:21end of the field Michael Bentwood on his recovery he's lapping in the 49s as well but not really
12:26making too much inroads over Jason Hughes that's the guy he's chasing. No unfortunately I mean Michael
12:31Bentwood disastrous first corner and he did lucky to get out of that gravel trap and continue to race but
12:38he's really not going to be where he wanted to be and it's a shame because as you say his pace shows
12:42that he's got the same pace as the leaders. Oh and here we go Reid and Muller, Reid and Muller. Oh yeah
12:47nice little bit of tapping there from Reid who was trying to have a look down the inside, doesn't
12:52seem to have fazed Muller, recovered well from that held it on and he's still trying to come back
12:56Thompson now having a little nibble at Chilton again taking a wide line into that corner seeing
12:59if he can work out an outside line, doesn't pay for him here, job to know where to look. We're going to
13:03go back to Reid now as he starts to try and chase down Muller once again. Muller has lost touch a little
13:08bit with these two teammates in front as Reid starts to put more pressure on him and Muller a little bit
13:12ragged there coming out of that corner. Yeah I think what had happened back at those 7a and 7b
13:17corners that Reid had had a little tap on the back of Muller, Muller didn't like it so he just moved
13:22over on it coming out of the corner. And Colin Turkington's coming up to play as well isn't he,
13:26he's team mate. Anthony Reid of course is this battle with Muller is slowing him up and Turkington's thinking
13:31I'm going to have a bit of this action as well. Reid very very late on the brakes, he goes down there
13:35touching again, trading a bit of paint. Turkington's going to try and have a nibble as well,
13:39rather than sitting back, Turkington's getting stuck in, this is good stuff. Yeah this is classic
13:43Anthony Reid just rubbing the back quarter of the car in front on the way into the corner,
13:49it's very unsettling for the driver, it doesn't constitute a deliberate push but it's nevertheless very naughty.

14:16Auto Emotion
14:21Anthony Reid and Ivan Muller absolutely side by side, well there we go, he's just rubbing, rubbing, rubbing and
14:29he's getting very frustrated, he said in the first race he dropped back from Muller and was able to lap
14:35seven tenths of a second quicker when in free air and he's clearly felt it's time to light the
14:41blue touch label and get on with it but you know Muller, he's such a perfectionist, he doesn't make
14:46mistakes and the only way Reid can really do anything is to have some physical pushing and that's
14:52that's not really going to work him out. Yeah he's just keeping the right side isn't he really of
14:57forceful contact really at the moment just the odd little tap getting in close really classic
15:01touring car racing. Yeah I mean as I say he's rubbing the back trying to make Muller lose concentration
15:07and make a mistake that'll let him get past cleanly but you know if you're not careful that little rubbing
15:13and that little pushing can end up being penalised. And he could at the end of the day of course take both of
15:18them out which is what we don't want this Muller's still leading there he goes Anthony right in his
15:22wheel tracks Huff goes through the picture Jason Plato out in front he's already gone through they
15:26come again Heinz is oh look at this Reid having a look down the inside again is he going to be able
15:29to find room this time can he do it no he can't quite get leveled how is he going to get the inside
15:33line as they come along the straight Muller's just going to move across and grab the line from him
15:37and win that battle as they go across the line great response from Muller. Yeah you see that was classic I
15:42mean it looked to everyone watching there that Reid had got inside Muller but Muller instead of trying to close the door he
15:48just let the car run out wide made sure he got a good exit from Dunlop and was able to pull across in
15:53front of Reid. Oh no that's Danny was out from the second race first race he went off on his own with
16:01an outbraking maneuver into one of the hairpins and now he's out the second race as well. Yeah hit hero to
16:06zero for Eves of course he took his first race win last time out of all the car but nothing like that
16:10today that's a bit of disappointment for him but the Muller and Reid battle continues on and Muller still
16:17trying to reel in Mark Hines in front of him here comes Muller there we go on board with Muller and
16:22you can see the distance between himself and Luke Hines in front of him in front of Hines is James
16:27Thompson, Tom Chilton those three cars having an absolutely great scrap in this one there's Hines
16:33it's the car in front of Muller trying to hunt them down and trying to see if he can get past Reid at the
16:38moment just seems to have abated in his attempts to uh to try and try and have a go at Muller for the moment.
16:44Yeah hats off to Rob Huff though because he's actually you know put a lot of distance between
16:48between himself and uh children and at the moment they have to look in at a a fantastic one-two
16:55which will make all their supporters and people here for the hospitality very happy but uh it just
17:00shows you know playing the tactical game can win you some uh races. And who knows maybe a double win
17:04because they'll start at the front of the grid for the third race of the day there's Dan Eves in the
17:09garages that's a bit of disappointment isn't it? Yeah great shame for him but uh you know he's uh
17:14it's not been a good race this second one for uh team Halperds and Computeach definitely but uh
17:20Reid's still trying to hassle hassle Muller but you see Muller has actually managed to catch up with uh
17:26Hines and Thompson and it really appears that Chilton is the one that's holding everybody up.
17:31Yeah I think you're right there Chilton does seem to be holding them up and oh look at that Reid
17:34having a speculative look down the inside as they go into Honda that time around can't quite work
17:38we're on now um lap 10 so you know this one there's going to be four laps to go in case you were on
17:44the race but um as uh Muller got free of Reid then as you said he's closed in on Hines and now they're
17:51reeling them back in and of course if he can't get past Hines then he's going to um not be able to
17:56chat I think we're going to go down to pit lane have we got Dan Eaves in pit lane um got caught up on
18:05the second corner there's a big coming together in front of me I've nowhere to go hit a couple of
18:09people um so I dropped back again to sort of second or third from last then Collard hit me going around
18:14the fast corner which put me back and then I managed to make a couple of places forward and
18:18now something's um something's dropped off or something's broken somewhere along the line so
18:21uh not coming on okay thank you yeah shame for uh down there looking very hot and they've only done
18:30half the race so imagine what these guys together look like the temperature here is absolutely
18:34sweltering uh very very hot indeed yeah very hot it's certainly hot on track at the moment and look
18:40at Chilton still holding up James Thompson he's gonna maybe try but Hines at the moment looks
18:44poised to maybe have a go Muller is still there as well three bottles it's like the red arrows isn't
18:48it just synchronized display through goes Reid as well seems to have lost lost to Turkington for
18:53the moment the gap is two tenths of a second on the last lap and as with the first race we've still
18:57got the fastest lap of the race went on the second lap to Anthony Reid so similar pattern on the tire wear
19:01I guess very much so but let's not forget in front of this fantastic group we've got the two Seats
19:06Jason Plato there he is leading the race in front of his teammate Rob Huff a brilliant result on the
19:12guard here for uh for Seat yeah Seat doing a great job we saw in first place Jason Plato then Rob Huff
19:18here comes the battle for third Tom Chilton is still there then it's James Thompson Luke Hines
19:23Ivan Miller the race winner from race one Anthony Reid he's combating from that one resuming the battle
19:27in this one tacking himself onto the back of his back and waiting hungry to pick up any pieces that fall
19:32off but I think at the moment that hope will be very much in despair through they go again
19:38confirmation of the top six Plato, Martin Chilton, Thompson, Hines and Muller we're looking at Hines in
19:43the 57 car trying to chase down Thompson through goes Rob Huff in second place so now we get the battle
19:48for third again the children is coming under big pressure now from James Thompson Thompson's going to
19:52try and look around the outside has to switch back in to keep Luke Hines behind him but this is really
19:56difficult for Thompson Thompson of course in one hand has to try and attack but on the other hand
20:02needs to defend as well yeah Chilton's driving a very defensive line with all these hairpins
20:07going very tight which is working out to keep him in front because it's not opening the door but of
20:12course it means that everybody else is absolutely all over him like a rash
20:22Chilton locking up into that downhill one can he hold it in tight yes he does oh no brilliant move by
20:28Thompson Thompson's through Chilton goes wide and James Thompson's through and is Chilton going to
20:32get hung out to drive because Hines is coming through as well Muller's following in his wheel
20:36tracks and Reid would do well to try and nip through too is Thompson is Chilton going to get
20:40through in front of Reid he does Reid's going to be pretty cheesed off about that well there you go
20:44they lose three places in one go the slightest mistake from Chilton locking up onto that downhill
20:50right-hander within an instant Thompson was alongside him and that took through Heinz and
20:55Muller as well and as you say Reid is the one that couldn't quite take the case as well he'll be
21:00trying desperately to get past but now the back is really on between these three Voxhalls and we'll
21:04see in these last couple of laps who's really got the pace yeah let's see if the Voxhalls can make
21:08any impression on the two Seats out front the gap on the last back was four seconds four and a half seconds
21:13now Reid's going down the inside of Tom Chilton as they come into Homba the Homba on the outside
21:18line Reid's going through Tonkington coming through as well so Chilton really has been punished
21:22hasn't he in this race the last couple of laps four old Chilton down from third place and finds himself
21:26now down behind Colin Turkington yeah he's trying to find back into Turkington just tagged in there which
21:32could have been awkward could have turned around but yeah he's gone right the way back to the back of
21:36this pack now and these three Voxhalls with uh uh Thompson out in front of Heinz and Muller they've got uh
21:43a lap and a half to back it out yeah let's see whether Thompson's going to be on the last lap
21:47Thompson was lapping in the 152s huffing the 151s in fact huff the fastest man on the last lap
21:52Plato out front now 2.8 seconds driving a great race from the front this really is setting us up
21:56for a cracking third race thinking ahead yes it is it's going to be wonderful isn't it we're going to have
22:01the two uh the two uh Seats on the front row if this race finishes as it does with a pack of um
22:07howling snarling Voxhalls right behind Anthony Reid now is set to resume his battle with
22:12Ivan Muller and you can see he's closing in on him now having dealt with Tom Chilton took him just
22:17about half a lap to deal with Chilton after that and he's trying to get through the two
22:21Seats i think are a little bit closer than they were earlier on maybe going for
22:25some sort of synchronized finish perhaps well yeah impossibly i don't think they could really
22:30afford to do that stage manager result here but i mean it just shows Anthony Reid has caught the
22:35uh quarterback full of very quickly over this lap what he was saying about having a fast car but not
22:40be able to pass in the first race appears to be true oh that's Carl Breeze that looks like
22:44that looks like an engine gong to me almost looks like he's gone off on his own oil okay here we've
22:50got a battling now with James Kaye as uh Carl Breeze extricates himself in the car it's James Kaye now
22:55starting to put pressure under Tom Chilton but look at that look I'm just having a look up the inside
23:00of James Thompson as they came across the line they're Anthony Reid now looking for the inside line
23:03of Ivan Muller as they come down this great Heinz is battling as well and uh well Muller's got the measure
23:07isn't he of Anthony Reid again holds on to that place but great battling yeah you can see Thompson
23:12and uh and uh Heinz just with a slightly lighter car they're able to out-tanker all the downstraight
23:17Muller's guards acting brilliantly in the corners just losing a little bit of grunt on the straights
23:22i know bx racing have been working very hard on their engines and they appear to have made some steps
23:27forward because certainly the way Muller's carrying the weight is is very impressive but obviously against
23:33his own teammates will go to cars he loses out in the big dust cloud in the back has somebody gone
23:37off wait for confirmation of that we'll have a quick look maybe someone's just run a little bit wide
23:41the dust is still there isn't it so i think in fact it was actually cutting the corner on the inside
23:45wasn't it that uh threw up the dust and uh well Reid still battling he must be sick to death at the
23:51back of Muller's car this weekend so far yeah Reid he's definitely giving it a go and i'll tell you
23:56what the uh voxels here aren't catching the science the gap is still some um 6.6 seconds back from
24:01Rob Huff in second place we have Plato leading Huff second James Thompson in third here's this
24:06absolutely enthralling battle between Ivan Muller and Anthony Reid for fifth position Muller with
24:11the red sunstreet running in fifth Reid still desperately trying to do everything he can you
24:15can see he's following the line almost exactly and every so often come offline just have a little
24:18nibble down the inside and try and make his way through but so far all in vain absolutely and importantly
24:25obviously for Thompson he's going to claw a few points back here uh be interesting to see if
24:29Hines maintains his position or or gives it up to Muller but uh with nine points between them
24:35then uh Thompson's going to claw back a few yeah it could be a couple of points in it here for Thompson
24:40in terms of just about now heading towards the completion of the penultimate lap Plato will cross
24:45the line now with one more lap to go here he comes that's Plato with the yellow strip following him
24:50is Rob Huff in the Seat looking for i think their first one two of the season second win
24:54before Plato if he can pull it off through come the Voxhalls again Anthony Reid a little bit
24:58further back in in the MG this time it doesn't look like he's going to try and stick up to Honda
25:01but Reid looking around the outside this is optimistic let's see if he can they can't make
25:05it hang in there very very difficult for him yeah it's a mistake by the other guy to really get
25:09through there but Reid's just trying everything he can to get through he's worked hard i tell you what
25:14Anthony Reid certainly uh earning his honors here earning his pay today trying to hunt down one of
25:18areas well who's also driven two absolutely superlative races so far he's done great guns
25:23he's trying to do a good job in front of him and James Thompson in third as we approach the closing
25:28stages of this round 14 yeah if this position continues of course we started the last race
25:33lighter than he's been all weekend um but he'll actually lose weight for the last race so
25:39goodness knows how quick it'll be then yeah certainly i don't think you'll you'll see um Anthony Reid taking the
25:44battle to him next time once he gets going but here they come we've got a formation finish not
25:48quite from the Seats but it's Jason Plato heading for his second win of the 2004 season doing a great
25:54job not too far behind has done a brilliant job too yeah great team effort by Seat um the first time
26:00here at Mondello Park and they're going to score a brilliant one two Jason Plato made an excellent start
26:06got away from the pack Rob Huff held everyone up for a level soon until he found his own pace and then
26:12gradually pulled away from Chilton and the other back one has actually caught up Jason although
26:16i'm sure Jason is just nursing this one home so brilliant team result for Seat yeah here they
26:22come now making their way down 25 well heading up towards the Dunlop corner and uh his read apparently
26:28now is getting a little bit closer on these final laps job to know where to look let's save for the
26:32moment here for the two Seats who come out of the Dunlop corner for the last time and it's going to be
26:36Jason Plato that makes it another win win number two for Seat and Jason Plato it's a one-two as
26:42Rob Huff crosses the line in second place next we go back to the Vauxhall's and it's going to be James
26:46Thompson taking third then Luke Hyde and the back did the challenge on the last one quite materialized
26:52there did it from Anthony Reid and he held on to take six positions so we'll hold on to fit with Anthony
26:57Reid in six yeah it's a great race there although the positions again stayed very much the same there was some
27:03tremendous dicing there and uh well Reedy and Muller what will happen in the third race so who knows
27:09but uh great race there'll be some very hot drivers in there temperatures in that car way
27:14up around 100 degrees so they'll be consuming copious amounts of water when they get out of the car
27:20and very well deserved a great performance from all of them in that one and now of course they've
27:24got to go away and do their homework try and adjust the cars make the adjustments on the ballast and
27:28work out what is best for the third race it really does set us up for a really thrilling
27:32climax here this afternoon yeah last race will be difficult for the Seats they will gain uh 42 kilos
27:38and 30 kilos respectively so a big increase in weight for them um and it you know they will struggle
27:45certainly in the third race to to maintain this form but uh it's there's the result for you um to read
27:51okay Jason Plato is the race winner car number 11 his teammate the Seat Soledo Cupra is Robert Half in
27:57third place James Thompson in number two then it's Luke Hines in fourth place fifth was Ivan Muller
28:02sixth Anthony Reid seventh Colin Turkington eighth was James Kaye ahead of Tom Chilton who of course
28:08got hung out to dry earlier on James Kaye got the better of him in the later stages of the race and
28:12Gavin Smith coming through to 10th place a good finish for Gavin Smith from the back of the field
28:16yeah excellent they got that uh problem with the thermostat sorted out and he's driven through and
28:21and now we'll start further up for the last race that's good for Gavin Smith and he will look forward to
28:25battling with Tom Chilton and James Kaye uh in the next one that's uh Farooq Harriman who had a very
28:31disappointing early retirement in the second of the two protons so a bit of clearing up to do for the
28:36protons and Farooq um will be starting from the back of the field in the next one
28:41welcome back to Mondello park we've just had round 14 of the green flag msa british touring car
28:55championship and a one-two historic one-two for the Seat team Jason Plato leading home his first world
29:02teammate Rob Huff to a superb one-two in third position was James Thompson and told that Thompson wasn't
29:10sweating that much it was just that someone had poured a load of water over him remember we did
29:13run the London marathon a few months ago the next race that we're going to look forward to this
29:18afternoon is the Dunlop supercars that's a formula based here in Ireland and we'll be telling you a
29:24little bit more about those later on and we're working towards the podium now as the drivers from
29:33the top three drivers from the from round 14 make their way to the presentation podium
29:41Tucker Radio's Alan Hyde as ever is doing the honors down there and he will introduce first of all the
29:49characters who will be making the presentations in this one which the first one will be the
29:57harrier xeros independence winner the sixth place man anthony reed and there he goes his second trip
30:03onto the podium today for anthony and another difficult race for him tried to chase down
30:08uh ivan malova was unable again in that race to do it but uh the check and the trophy again so
30:15deja vu again for anthony reed who takes sixth position and the winning the harrier xeros independence
30:21trophy presentation and well done to anthony reed the winners are sayat and to represent them scott
30:28next up is the manufacturers trophy and the sayat team will be taking that scott dennis from sayat is
30:35picking up the trophy there and he's absolutely thrilled with that and i'm sure all the guests
30:39are here today as well so a second race win in the 2004 season for the sayat team and now we move
30:46on to the top three jimmy thompson takes third place a wave to the crowd for james thompson he
30:52makes his way up there there goes the trophy on the podium again is james thompson in second place

31:12rob huff very well and very good start of course rob started on the outside of the second row and did a
31:18brilliant start to chase the winner jason plato who makes his way up to the top step of the podium for
31:25the second time this year
31:32and boy is he pleased about that handshakes and punches the air double punch in the air with delight the trophy

32:23jason plato wins round 14
32:26so jason plato again takes the board it's for
32:28a splendid race win in round 14 of the championship
32:33and now we get the
32:36next moment of battle which is with the
32:39traditional shatter paint spray and
32:41well jason's learned the hard way and he pulls it over himself to start with
32:43and then sprays everybody else as well
32:49always find this a bit dodgy of course the drivers have got to go out and race in those
32:52racing suits again a little bit later on and uh probably don't want to get too hot and sweaty
32:56on these races but there's the top three then anthony reed the independence winner james thompson
33:01rob hoff and the race winner jason blato
33:09british touring car championship in association
