00:00A lot of big weekend series coming up this weekend in Major League Baseball.
00:03You might be focused yourself on the preseason action, setting up your fantasy draft,
00:07setting up your seasonal numbers here in the NFL.
00:09But me and Joe Ranieri, it's time to focus here on Major League Baseball,
00:13right here on the early line on the Sports Grid Network.
00:16And that starts with the New York Yankees.
00:18Ooh, two teams that hate each other, Joe.
00:20It's the Houston Astros as they come to town against the Yankees.
00:23The Boos will be out in full force.
00:25The only question is, will they be doing the Astros or their own Yankees in this series?
00:29Brown's going to go up against Schlitter in this series.
00:31Game number one tonight, 7.05 p.m., 9.13, 9.14 on the rotation.
00:35If we look at the lines overnight, it was roughly a favorite here at most outlets for the Houston Astros.
00:41But now we see more of a pick-em across the sports landscape right now,
00:44depending on where you're shopping at.
00:45A low total too, Joe.
00:47Eights overnight, they turned into seven and a half.
00:49We're expecting a pitching performance tonight.
00:51The question is, which pitcher and which team do you trust?
00:55Well, I'm very interested in the line movement here.
00:59Donnie, overnight from the Astros being the road favorite to all of a sudden now the Yankees in a lot of spots being the favorite.
01:08So, listen, Hunter Brown, we know he was about as Cy Young worthy as anybody in Major League Baseball for, you know, three quarters of this season.
01:19He has slowed down here a little bit over the last couple of starts here, over the last month.
01:25But the reality is, which version of these two teams is showing up here tonight?
01:31Are we getting the Hunter Brown of old and the lineup that we saw explode finally for over the weekend for the Astros with Pena and Carrera and company?
01:41Or are we going to get the one that, again, can't hit water if they fell out of a boat?
01:46So, I think this is going to be a very unique matchup.
01:50But both bullpens are fantastic, by the way.
01:52So, if both starting pitchers have issues, it's an under to me here.
01:57I just, I think the offenses are going to struggle here tonight in this first game against these pitching staffs.
02:04I like Houston.
02:06I think Houston makes some sense in this spot here.
02:08I still do like the Yankees lineup.
02:09It projects well against right-handed pitching.
02:10But you're right about one thing.
02:12There was a tripping point there in the month of July that, man, like Hunter Brown looked like he was on case.
02:17Because I remember, I think it was when the Philadelphia Phillies were playing.
02:19The graph that came up on the screen, leads Major League Baseball in ERA.
02:22Like, he was that good to start the season over the first couple months.
02:25But, however, Joe, his last two starts, July 26th against the Athletics.
02:30Five innings pitch, one earned run.
02:31Next start after that goes on the road to Boston at Fenway.
02:34Seven innings pitch, one earned run.
02:36Looks like he's back into form tonight.
02:38And I'm going to say, all right, third time's a charm.
02:40He's going to give us an honest effort.
02:41I think the Houston Astros come away with a victory here over the Yankees.
02:44Number one, I like the way the Yankees lineup projects against Houston.
02:47Yes, but Hunter Brown thinks the better pitcher.
02:48But also, Houston's lineup looks pretty good today as well, going up against the young pitcher for the New York Yankees.
02:54I think the Astros get that job done.
02:56Let's filter out to the team that's favored to win the pennant and favored to win a World Series.
03:01That is the Los Angeles Dodgers.
03:02They're taking on the red, hot Toronto Blue Jays, looking to stay in first place in the AL East.
03:07Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer on the mound tonight.
03:09Total listed at nine across the board, but a favorite here for the Dodgers.
03:13But overnight, Joe, we were talking minus 160s, minus 165s.
03:17They're going lower.
03:18The graphic, you'll see it on the screen, minus 142.
03:21Those are the numbers that are now sitting here, meaning we're getting a buyback here for the Toronto Blue Jays.
03:26I actually like this nine number, Joe.
03:28I'm feeling a little bit of runs tonight out there in Chavez Ravine.
03:31Yeah, that would not shock me either here, given the fact that we've seen both of these guys.
03:37Both guys, by the way, will be in the Hall of Fame at some point here.
03:41Both of these pitchers here, which shows against Kershaw.
03:44But at the same time, don't necessarily love the Dodgers' bullpen either.
03:50I got to give the edge here to Toronto.
03:53I think Toronto, from a batting perspective, has been crushing lefties here for the better part of the last two months on the season.
04:02And I think they can go toe-to-toe here.
04:04Scherzer could very well give up his share of runs.
04:07It feels like an over, but it feels like the better bullpen is with Toronto.
04:12So, and currently, I trust the Blue Jays' lineup to hit a lefty better than most.
04:18So, I'll take the Blue Jays in the over here.
04:21Yeah, I like that Blue Jays' lineup.
04:22Day-to-day basis looks very good.
04:24I'm just waiting for that Dodgers' lineup to officially wake up.
04:26Because there are times where it's like, hey, man, you can take everybody in that Dodgers' lineup for like an RBI prop.
04:31We're not at that case right now.
04:32Max Scherzer's last 45 days in Major League Baseball.
04:34Joe, 38 innings pitched, a 4-2-6 ERA and a 3.82 XF number.
04:39If we slide it down, Kershaw slightly behind him, 33 and a third innings pitched.
04:43Not a bad ERA of 3.27, but a higher XF number of 4.34.
04:46Two good-looking lineups here, at least name-wise in recognition.
04:50We'll see if that pans out to runs tonight in Los Angeles in a big tilt between Toronto of the American League and also the Los Angeles Dodgers of the National League.
04:57Let's get over to the New York Metropolitans who need a couple victories to try to climb back in the race with the Philadelphia Phillies.
05:03They're going to take on who we think may be the hottest team in baseball.
05:06At least this team has 70 wins more than any other team in Major League Baseball.
05:10That's the Brewers.
05:11Senga's on the mound versus Woodruff.
05:12905-906 rotation number.
05:148-10 start tonight.
05:16If you look at this side, how about Milwaukee overnight?
05:19Minus 118s, minus 120s, minus 124s.
05:22Those are gone.
05:23Steam is hitting the Milwaukee Brewers, and I agree.
05:26They're now up into the mid-140s now with a total listed at 8.
05:31Woodruff, Senga.
05:32I like Milwaukee, Joe.
05:33I'll ride the favorites and the steam here.
05:36Yeah, and I like them early, too.
05:38And it wouldn't shock me either if this is a bit of a pitcher's battle early on as well.
05:45Senga, outside of his last start, has actually been pretty darn good here and not giving up the long ball and keeping balls on the ground.
05:54He's a ground ball pitcher.
05:55It feels like, you know, Woodruff is really coming out of the gate hot since he's been back.
06:01He's already 3-0 at a 2.22 ERA, his sixth start.
06:06He missed all of last year, missed the first half of this season, and he looks like he has not skipped a beat here.
06:12So, I think the first five under four is not a bad look here, Donnie, because I believe both of these pitchers are going to be able to control what happens in this game early on.
06:22Yeah, here's what I worry about Senga, too.
06:25Because, obviously, the pedigree coming in, he was on the I.L. for quite some time.
06:28Came back against the Kansas City Royals on July the 11th.
06:31Four innings pitched, no earned runs.
06:32You like to see that.
06:33But his next three starts, Joe, three innings pitched, four earned runs.
06:36Five innings pitched, three earned runs.
06:39Gave up four runs in that game.
06:41And then, again, against the San Francisco Giants, his last start, August the 2nd.
06:44Only four innings, four earned runs, a home run, three walks, and only four strikeouts here.
06:49Something's wrong with Senga where, you know, he was supposed to be a strikeout guy not coming up the block.
06:53That's why I think that steam is hitting.
06:55Sal Freilich, Isaac Collins, Christian Yelich, Andrew Vaughn, Blake Perkins, Bryce Terang,
07:00all have really good numbers weighted on base percentages here.
07:03But this is a big-time series.
07:04Are we still believing that the Milwaukee Brewers are for real?
07:06Well, we'll find out.
07:07But also for the New York Mets, if the Phillies handle their business against the Texas Rangers
07:11and let you say win that series and the Mets lose this series,
07:14now you're looking at three and a half, four earned a camp games back here for the Mets.
07:16That can't happen.
07:17More Major League Baseball talk on the early line.
07:19It's a Friday.
07:20Radio on the Woodford Network.
07:21Some say the West Coast is the best coast here.
07:23The early line.
07:25We're going out to San Diego to break down a baseball game between the Boston Red Sox
07:28and the San Diego Padres.
07:31How about this one, Joe?
07:32Walker Bueller's on the mound.
07:33Back on the West Coast for him.
07:34Hasn't really had that good a time on the East Coast, by the way.
07:36Numbers are inflated this season.
07:37Not getting that potential that we once saw with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
07:41But you know who is showing this potential?
07:42That's Nick Pavetta, starting pitcher here for the San Diego Padres.
07:45Look at this price point in a game that's going to start at 940 tonight, Joe.
07:49Minus 184 overnight.
07:50It's actually increasing in some outlets.
07:52Minus 188s here.
07:53Minus 185s.
07:54A total that's listed at 8.
07:56Boston goes out to the West Coast, taking on the San Diego Padres.
07:59Pitching advantage to pitching Pavetta tonight.
08:02Do you agree that they should be that high a price against the Boston Red Sox?
08:05Well, yeah, especially given the fact that Walker Bueller is a hot mess on the road.
08:11I think he's got close to a seven and a half road ERA here.
08:15And Nick Pavetta, of course, has been, I don't know, one of the best bargain free agent signings
08:21of the year, if you are the Padres.
08:24He has been really good.
08:25He's been really good at home as well.
08:28And when you have this kind of pitching advantage, I absolutely side with the home team.
08:35I'll lay the half a run in the first five.
08:37I think Pavetta outduels Walker Bueller.
08:40I think the Padres get to him before the Red Sox get to Pavetta.
08:45They're better against lefties, not so much against righties.
08:48I like them in the first five.
08:50I'll lay the half a run.
08:52He's been really good, too.
08:53How about his last 44 and two thirds innings pitch?
08:56We're talking about Nick Pavetta right now, not Jacob DeGrom's circle like 2016.
09:00A one ERA, Joe.
09:01He has a one ERA over his past 44 and two thirds innings pitched here.
09:05We'll see if those hot bats can come out to San Diego and sort of ignite that flame.
09:09But there's a reason why Pavetta is favored by that much right now.
09:12We'll see where those lines end up by the end of the night, which is when that game does play.
09:15Let's go down to the Lone Star State.
09:17The Philadelphia Phillies taking on the Texas Rangers.
09:19Christopher Sanchez has been absolutely electric this season in Major League Baseball.
09:23How about his last 51 innings pitch, Joe?
09:251.59 ERA going up today against Merrill Kelly.
09:30This line is a slight favor for the Phillies, which opened up overnight, minus 125s or so.
09:34We're now to the 130s, as high as 137 in the marketplace, but a low total of 7.5.
09:39Kelly versus Sanchez in Texas tonight, 8.05 start.
09:43Yeah, you got to like, listen, Merrill Kelly, it's not like Philadelphia doesn't know him with his time spent at Arizona, Donnie.
09:52So they're very well aware of what he's going to bring to the table.
09:56Both bullpens have obviously been upgraded and have been pitching better.
10:01Sanchez has been great.
10:03Do we trust him on the road more?
10:07Like, does he pitch on the road like he pitches at Philadelphia?
10:10Not necessarily.
10:11But either way, I think this is pretty good value on the home dog here tonight, maybe to eke one out.
10:19The bats have been hot for the Rangers.
10:22There's no doubt about it.
10:23They've been pretty decent against lefties lately.
10:26All in all, though, wouldn't shock me if this runs are going to be very hard to come by in this game.
10:32Yeah, take a look at Merrill Kelly, too.
10:3441 and a third innings pitch.
10:36Obviously, new baseball team here.
10:372.83 ERA.
10:38So you got a guy with it.
10:39Again, I don't like the ERA, but a lot of people just use that as that eye point here.
10:432.83 for Merrill Kelly.
10:44Last 45 days.
10:45Christopher Sanchez, 1.59.
10:47Also some beefed up bullpens as well.
10:49We'll see how that plays out in Texas tonight.
10:50But let's move to a battle, which used to be a really fierce rivalry.
10:54Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals.
10:56Boyd, the lefty, is going to be on the mound going up against McGreevy.
10:58Heavy favorite for the Cubbies here.
11:00Opened up overnight, though, around that minus 170.
11:02It is dropping 156s and 150s, depending where he's shopping at right now.
11:06An eight and a half total that's listed.
11:09And if you take a look at my guy, Boyd, his last 45 innings pitched.
11:13A 1.40 ERA.
11:15What was the juice baseballs, Joe?
11:17What's going on out here?
11:19Yeah, no kidding.
11:20But, I mean, listen, the Cubs are barely hanging on to what a chance
11:23to actually win this central division.
11:26I mean, they've only won five of their last 10 games.
11:30The bats go really cold really quickly here.
11:34And we've got now a Cardinals team that is better at home.
11:38And make no mistake, this is a heated rivalry.
11:41One in which, though, I got to believe the better pitcher on the mound
11:45gives me the Cubs, I think, with a better chance of winning this game here.
11:50And holding the Cardinals lineup down.
11:53Yeah, Boyd's been doing really well.
11:54But you take a look at McGree, the other end of the spectrum.
11:5622 and a third innings pitched over the past 45 days.
11:59How about his ERA?
12:00No, not a 1, not a 2, not a 3, not a 4, not a 5, not LeBron James.
12:03Talking about championships.
12:04He's a 6.85 ERA with an XFIP of 4.89.
12:10That's certainly not going to help at this point.
12:11Weather conditions in St. Louis.
12:13Finally out of Chicago.
12:14It seems like, Joe, it was blowing in every single day for some reason.
12:1888 degrees at first pitch at night.
12:20Light wind blowing out to left field.
12:21Maybe we do get some runs.
12:22But the team I'm not going to trust in this environment would be the St. Louis Cardinals
12:26because I don't like the pitching matchup.
12:28I don't like the batting lineup there for them.
12:29And also, Boyd, again, a 1.15, one ERA, basically.
12:34Come on now.
12:35Nobody's hitting this environment.
12:37Baseball's in the seats.
12:38That's what we love.
12:39Football Friday on the early line.
12:41It's the way we like to do it here.
12:42Even if it is only the preseason.
12:44Thursday night games, Friday night games, Saturday into Sunday.
12:47And away we go.
12:47Next year will be week two preseason, week three preseason.
12:50And then we find ourselves on Thursday night football for the Philadelphia Eagles
12:53and the Dallas Cowboys.
12:55I'm Donnie Wright's side.
12:55He's Joe Ranieri.
12:56Now we welcome in Tom Vecchio, the jack of all trades, to help us out with some action today.
13:01Tom, how do we feel?
13:03How are we doing?
13:04I'm doing great.
13:05Yeah, we got some preseason action last night.
13:07We have a full slate of MLB today.
13:09We have preseason throughout the weekend.
13:12I'm ready to go.
13:13And I would say don't overreact to anything that you've seen in the preseason, good or bad.
13:18Nope, don't overreact.
13:20And by the way, don't overreact to a Major League Baseball, Pro Baseball today, Sunday,
13:23every single Sunday here in the month of August, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
13:26Both myself and Tom Vecchio, breaking down the entire Major League Baseball card,
13:29which we do have an entire Major League Baseball card today.
13:33And it warms my heart, Tom, that I know you want to talk about your and my Philadelphia Phillies.
13:38Any action today in that Texas Rangers series, which is a big one.
13:42Yeah, we have a lot of big series.
13:44Between that one, we have Houston and New York, Boston, San Diego, Toronto, L.A. Dodgers.
13:50But let's go to that series.
13:52Really like the under in this game.
13:54And I know that might not be the most exciting thing,
13:56but we're looking at two solid pictures overall.
13:58The ballpark itself in Arlington has played to the under a lot.
14:02The Rangers' offense is good.
14:04And I know, like, I think all three of us have been or were high on the Rangers coming into the season,
14:08at least from an offensive perspective.
14:10They haven't put it together fully.
14:11Combined with the fact that the Phillies have upgraded their bullpen,
14:14I don't see this as a high-scoring series overall.
14:17So I like the under tonight.
14:19We got two solid pictures with Merrill Kelly and Sanchez on the mound.
14:22I see this as a straight under.
14:24We're not dealing with any weather factors.
14:26Give me the under in all three games, and I hope that two of the three come out under.
14:31It's interesting, too, because that ballpark has been an under-cash cow all season long,
14:38except over the last couple of weeks where we're starting to get a whole lot of overs here.
14:43But you're confident both Sanchez and Merrill Kelly can limit the damage at least early
14:47until the bullpens get balled.
14:50Yeah, I have more confidence in the Phillies' bullpen,
14:52keeping things under control with the improvements that they made.
14:55Listen, we could be seeing this game, what, like 3-2 after 5, really on the other side.
15:00And if you told me, listen, a Schwarber solo home run and a Seager two-run shot,
15:04and then it pushes to 8 and either team wins 5-3, I'm not going to be shocked.
15:09But I do see the under as, like, it's going to be trending that way up until late, if anything.
15:15Cleveland got, or excuse me, Cleveland just got done hammering the New York Mets.
15:18And he takes it with the Chicago White Sox just getting beat up there by the Mariners.
15:22They're going to play today.
15:22Total listed at 8.5 across the board.
15:24And a favorite here for Cleveland with Tanner Bobby on the mound.
15:27158s have been lowered slightly into the minus 140s right now.
15:30Any action you're looking at between the Guardians and the White Sox today, Tom?
15:33Yeah, so this game is going to be in the upper 80s.
15:35There's a little bit of wind blowing in, and I don't really see that as too much of an issue.
15:40I think the temperature overall offsets that.
15:42The Guardians, all of a sudden, they're scoring at least a consistent amount of runs.
15:45And the White Sox, credit to them, they're playing much better as of late.
15:48They're not winning every game, but they had a solid series last weekend,
15:51which Joe and I spoke about on a couple IGLs going up against the Angels.
15:55They put up some runs over the past few days against a good Mariners staff,
15:58even though they lost that series.
16:00Aaron Savali's on the mound.
16:01And Donnie, this is literally one of our favorite pitchers to attack.
16:04I know he had a good start.
16:05Last week versus the Angels, but this is a spot where we're going to see the Guardians continue to roll.
16:11And I really got to say, they got to take the momentum from the Mets series.
16:14And where they are in the wild card standings, they got to pour in some runs.
16:17So, yes, there's a little bit of wind blowing in.
16:19But you give me 88, 89, 90 degrees, wherever it's going to be,
16:22I see this game going over.
16:23And I see Jay Ram is having a huge weekend against this terrible pitching staff.
16:27So, don't look now, but how confident are you that maybe the Guardians can keep this rolling?
16:35And listen, I don't trust Detroit.
16:38And what are they, about six games different right now and plenty of baseball?
16:43I mean, are we sleeping on the Guardians here?
16:46You know, I spoke about this yesterday a little bit with Craig Misch on Newswire.
16:51I'm confident Detroit wins the division because it is a lot to overcome.
16:55And their offense, granted, it hasn't been good as of late.
16:58But the point that I'm making with the Tigers is at least they have some type of runway
17:02where they don't need to play like, they don't need to win 75% of their games to maintain the lead.
17:07If they play like 500-ish, a little bit over 500, the Guardians would really need to exceed that.
17:12Combined with the fact that the Guardians, their pitching staff is weaker theoretically
17:15because they traded away Shane Bieber, who should be coming back soon.
17:19Emmanuel Clause is suspended.
17:20The Tigers didn't make improvements, quote-unquote, to their pitching staff
17:23against Charlie Morton and Chris Paddock, despite the fact that they are middle-of-the-road pitchers.
17:27They are better than what they had out there.
17:29And yes, the Tigers' offense has been struggling, but they have this runway to figure it out.
17:33And they do have an easy strength of schedule remaining.
17:37So I think the Tigers maintain it.
17:39It's not going to be cruising up to 11 games as they were earlier in the season.
17:42It's going to sit around this 5-6 mark for the rest of the year.
17:46Only four games on the card yesterday in Major League Baseball.
17:48Full slate tonight on a Friday, but also some NFL action.
17:52Tom, did you watch any action from yesterday and have any takeaways from those games yesterday?
17:56You know, my takeaways from preseason really come down to a player level,
18:00especially as it relates to, you know, potentially, you know, fantasy, you know, drafting players, whatnot.
18:06The things that I would say is, like, you know, it's good to see that the Ravens still have depth
18:10behind Derrick Henry with running back Mitchell.
18:13He had a solid game.
18:14Like, you can take away whatever you want from preseason games because the sample size is so small.
18:18If you want to say, like, oh, Ashton Gentry, oh, he's terrible.
18:20Oh, three carries, you know, negative one yards, I would say, oh, he's terrible.
18:24But in reality, it's a small sample size.
18:26If you're going to say, on the other side of the goal, Anthony Richardson didn't look good or he looked okay,
18:30then he got hurt, you can take anything away from it that you want.
18:33I would say the one thing I am still concerned about is the Bengals' defense.
18:38I think everyone's still concerned about it.
18:39Like, we know that the Bengals can go out there and score 30 points a game as they did last year,
18:43but if your defense gives up 35 points, you're never going to be in a spot to go 10-7 or 10-6,
18:49whatever the weeks are this season.
18:51It's not 8-8 anymore.
18:52It's 10-7, I guess.
18:53But the Bengals' defense is concerning still.
18:57Yeah, it definitely is.
18:58By the way, let me ask you this question on the Los Angeles Chargers,
19:01because you never want to see injuries here.
19:03And I know most people are high on the Chargers.
19:06You get that devastating injury to your left tackle, one of the best tackles in the NFL.
19:10Does that change your outlook at all, Tom, like passing yardage-wise, receiving yards, rushing yards-wise?
19:15Because that's a key loss that might interrupt some of those games here with a pass rush that just can't hold up.
19:21It does have to downgrade it a little bit.
19:22I'll be honest, I wasn't super high on the Chargers coming into the season from a team perspective.
19:26I think some of their players individually have a lot of potential, but I see them as being a wild-card team at best.
19:33They're not going to be competing for the division, and it is absolutely a downgrade to Herbert and his overall passing ability this season.
19:38Before we get you out of here, Tom, of course, you can see Tom and myself on Sunday morning here on Pro Baseball Today.
19:44Does Shadur Sanders throw a touchdown pass tonight, yes or no?
19:47Yes.
19:49Whoa!
19:49And he gets first-team reps.
19:50He'll get first-team reps in the column for the coming week.
19:54Tom has spoken.
19:55Let's get it.
19:56Shadur Sanders touchdown pass.
19:57Thanks for joining us this morning.
19:58Tom, enjoy the rest of your weekend, and let's get back after here with some bye-bye-bye.
20:03Shadur Sanders starting tonight for those Cleveland Browns.
20:06They're getting six and a half points from the Carolina Panthers.
20:08We just asked Tom Vecchio here if he thinks they're going to throw a touchdown pass.
20:11At least Shadur gets one.
20:12Yes, he said, and I do believe the same thing.
20:14If he's going to play the first half, he's going to be put in the position to go against backups,
20:17and let's just see if he can throw one touchdown pass tonight.
20:20But he's been making the rounds in the news for the past year and a half, two years,
20:24since he's been at Colorado with his pops, prime-time Deion Sanders.
20:28But now he's in the NFL, trying to make his way and be a starting quarterback.
20:31But here's where I get a laugh out of things.
20:33Stephen A. Smith yesterday, obviously a prominent guy across social media and on ESPN,
20:38his quote was, he's been fourth on the depth chart, and then you suddenly throw him in to start.
20:42You are throwing him to the wolves.
20:43I know sometimes you get overextended in some sports fields that maybe you don't understand all that way.
20:52I don't know if he feels like how he understands preseason, but usually in game number one,
20:56the rookies play the most because nobody cares about this football game.
20:59So you want to get a look at the rookies, particularly your starting quarterbacks.
21:01So you start Shadur Sanders, even if he's fourth on the depth chart.
21:04That's the way the NFL works.
21:06But some people are led to believe that that is correct.
21:08Like, yeah, let's throw him under the bus by starting with backups here.
21:11Did you want them not to play him in the preseason and then cut him because he didn't play in the preseason
21:16so he didn't get thrown to the wolves?
21:18Like, I don't even understand the comment or the concept of what he's trying to say here, Joe.
21:23And what's the difference with the depth chart?
21:26We know Flacco's at the top, and we know that you basically have underneath that Kenny Pickett,
21:33who's got the most experience.
21:34So you got two rookies battling it out.
21:36The preseason is all about giving those rookies the opportunity to distance themselves from one another, right?
21:43So the fact that it's not Dylan Gabriel and it's Shadur Sanders starting this game,
21:47I think that's what you need to focus on.
21:50And the bottom line, how is this any different than Shadur Sanders on the center at Colorado
21:55playing Notre Dame or Penn State or USC?
21:59You know, none of those kids at Colorado were going to be in the same breath as the guys
22:05that they were playing across the ball from when you play some of the big boys.
22:09He's used to this.
22:10He's used to running around for his life.
22:12Listen, you either have it or you don't have it.
22:15You're going to find out, I think, rather quickly whether or not he truly is a pro-level quarterback
22:20because could the bargain any lower with him, Donnie, right now as the fourth stringer?
22:24And by the way, don't you want first crack at it?
22:28How many goes out there seven of eight on the first two drives with a touchdown pass?
22:31They go, okay, we've seen enough from you.
22:32Looks like you're going to make the team.
22:33You could be our number two quarterback and maybe fight for a starting job.
22:36Like these are the things that you want as a competitor to be out there and competing at this time.
22:40We'll see what happens tonight.
22:41If you throw those touchdown passes, if they win, or if we get an injury like we saw last night
22:45with Anthony Richardson, that sort of sets back that process of trying to find
22:48your starting quarterback in Cleveland here.
22:50But now's the time of the show, particularly the end of the week.
22:52Friday is payday, people, and here's bye-bye-bye.
23:02I got robbed, I tell you, yesterday by the Marlins.
23:05Had an easy victory snatched away from me from that bullpen.
23:08They just couldn't hold that tough Atlanta Braves offense down.
23:10But I'm going to bounce back today.
23:11But Joe, back on the prowl tonight, Major League Baseball, NFL, where are we going tonight?
23:16Oh, let's go back to the diamond tier and let's go, if it ain't broke, why in the world are
23:24we looking to fix it?
23:26Right now, the Brewers are not broke.
23:28The Mets are.
23:30And Brandon Woodruff on the mound, 18-3, Donnie, with a 2.33 ERA.
23:36And you ready for this?
23:37His last 37 starts going all the way back to May of 2022.
23:43He's 2-1 with a 3 ERA and 3 career starts against the Mets.
23:49This is a guy that is really starting to come into his own.
23:52This is his sixth start since coming off the IL.
23:55Everything Milwaukee touches, including a guy like Andrew Vaughn, by the way, who continues
24:01to be smashing the ball at the plate, all signs point up here to Milwaukee at this price.
24:08I got no problem backing the better pitcher and the better bullpen against a lineup right
24:14now that it doesn't matter what you throw at them, they're going to hit it.
24:18Yeah, I like the Brewers at this price as a home favorite.
24:22Yeah, it certainly makes sense.
24:24There's no doubt about that here.
24:25So when I take a look for myself and say, where do I want to go?
24:27It's going to be Major League Baseball and I'm headed to Sactown.
24:30Well, not necessarily Sactown, but it is in Baltimore tonight, but I'm going to go with
24:34two guys each to get a base hit.
24:37If I look at Nick Kurtz in that lineup, his last 66 at-bats against right-handed pitching,
24:41he slayed the demons.
24:43A 549 ISO and a 702 weighted on base percentage.
24:46Tyler Soderstrom, 73 at-bats over his past month here against right-handed pitching.
24:51A 286 ISO and a 377 weighted on base percentage.
24:54You look at Sugano, the starting pitch on the mound tonight in 76-degree temperatures,
24:58he gives it up to left-handed batters.
25:00Plus 100, Joe.
25:01Bye, bye, bye.
25:022-0 tonight.
25:02I feel it.
25:03You feel the 2-0 tonight.
25:05I am hitting the bet button right now, Donnie.
25:09I love that look, man.
25:10I'm all over it.
25:12That'll do it for the week here.
25:13Once again, Donnie Wright's got to end Joe Raniere.
25:16Bringing that heat right here on the Sports Grid Network on the early line.
25:19We'll see you bright and early Monday morning.
25:21Enjoy.
