The skipper Shai Hope was the one faced with the task of addressing another failure from the West Indies.

And he tried his best, admitting he doesn't have answers to the issue.

He also addressed selection choices while pointing out what ought to be done better, moving forward.

00:00After another series defeat, the pressure is mounting on Shea Hope as captain of the West Indies wide ball teams.
00:06West Indies have only won twice in their last 15 ODI and T20 matches combined,
00:11with two wins coming against Ireland and a last ball victory over Pakistan in the second T20.
00:17So the question to the skipper is why the West Indies can't put things together
00:20despite having so many players who perform in franchise cricket around the world.
00:25If I had the answers, we would be winning all the time.
00:27So that's the honest answer right now.
00:30I don't know if you want me to say something else, but it's just one of those things.
00:36You're playing in franchises, you're getting information, you're gaining experience,
00:40but regardless of what's happening, you've got to come and do it for the region.
00:44It's something that we haven't been doing. The reality is reality.
00:47But like I said, if I have the answers, then we would be winning.
00:49It's just not happening for us.
00:51As for last night's defeat, Ruston Chase became the first full member batsman to retire out in T20 cricket.
00:57Yet, Hope defended the decision to bat him with the West Indies desperate for runs.
01:03He's one of the batters who normally negates the spin in the middle.
01:07We identify players who bat spin in the middle.
01:11It's obviously something that we discuss as a batting unit.
01:14We've got to look at the personnel that we have.
01:16We're short of some guys who would normally do that for us in the middle.
01:19So it sounds as though you're saying he wasn't the right choice.
01:23I felt the rate was a bit high at that point.
01:25So who would you have said?
01:27No, I just wanted to tell me.
01:29Jason?
01:30All those guys.
01:31Okay, fair enough.
01:32The focus now shifts to the ODI series in Trinidad,
01:35and the skipper pointed out what must happen to avoid another series defeat.
01:39First thing is adaptation.
01:42Every single place we play in the Caribbean or here, for example, in the U.S.,
01:47conditions are so different.
01:48So the first thing we need to do is assess,
01:50see what's best plans to formulate for that particular surface,
01:56the wind conditions, all these things we've got to take into account.
02:00But you know they're going to bat a lot of spin at us,
02:02and the way how we negate those spinners in the middle overs is, again,
02:05is going to be very crucial for us as batters.
02:08And same thing with the ball.
02:09We've got to find ways to keep making inroads in the same middle overs.
02:13So start with the power play and try to put them under pressure early,
02:17and then just try to keep taking wickets through the innings
02:20and limit their bleeding in the middle.
