As beachgoers flock to the North Coast for sun and sea, lifeguards at Maracas Bay are urging the public to take water safety seriously this vacation period.

00:04So if you look along the beach, you'll find each red flag directly in front.
00:08Each red flag, the water tends to be a bit choppy.
00:10They tend to have a canal out there.
00:12That's where the rip currents are usually stationed.
00:14So live guys basically advise members of the public, stay between the red flags.
00:19So swim between the red flags.
