00:18 Today is a pioneering day for Tobago and Trinidad and Tobago as a country because we are installing

00:26 the world's first Siglock Spartan installation out of North America.

00:32 These are new hydrant designs, pioneering hydrants that are totally redesigned of the

00:37 traditional hydrants.

00:39 It's designed to save lives, save money and protect infrastructure of course.

00:46 Harris said compared to traditional hydrants it boasts unparalleled efficiency, resilience

00:53 and durability setting a new global standard for fire safety infrastructure.

00:58 One of the challenges traditionally people have is that a lot of hydrants are either

01:03 defective, they've been vandalized, the weather takes a toll especially in coastal

01:08 environments like Tobago and sometimes again they just haven't been maintained.

01:15 So this hydrant solves all those problems.

01:18 He claims that switching to the Siglock Spartan hydrant has numerous advantages including

01:24 a substantial reduction in water loss due to leaks, theft and vandalism.

01:30 He says the benefits extend to lowered lifetime expenses for maintenance, spare parts, painting

01:38 and infrastructure related damages.

01:41 In the VC2 cluster area we have three hydrants and we were looking to replace the old hydrants

01:46 for new ones and after deep analysis of the different options we came up with the Siglock

01:51 model.

01:52 And the reason we chose that is primarily because one it's the most modern hydrant

01:58 in the world right now.

01:59 It can handle a salt environment because we are very close to the sea so it's totally

02:04 waterproof and sealed off and you get a much longer warranty.

02:09 This installation signifies a significant step towards enhanced public safety and a

02:15 proactive approach to emergency preparedness setting a global precedent for other regions

02:22 to follow.
