00:00Caribbean Airlines is reaffirming that safety remains its number one priority
00:06after one of its flights had to be diverted due to a technical issue on
00:10Thursday night. Cal confirms that flight BW617 which was en route to Georgetown
00:17from Toronto was diverted to Kingston, Jamaica after encountering a technical
00:22issue. No further details on the issue were provided. The flight landed
00:27safely. The flight was scheduled to land in Guyana before returning to Piacco
00:32International Airport this morning. While there was a technical issue on BW617
00:40and the aircraft did divert out of an abundance of caution to Kingston, the
00:48aircraft has been attended to and is back in service. But beyond that I can
00:57assure everyone that safety is paramount at Caribbean Airlines. It is
01:06at the center of all that we do, recognizing of course that the airline
01:12industry is one of the most highly regulated industries in the world and we
01:17continue to benchmark ourselves against all international standards and we are
01:24regulated by independent regulators and consistently meet and surpass our audits
01:34and checks. So Caribbean Airlines safety is of paramount importance to the
01:45airline. On January 27th flight BW1541 had to make an emergency landing at
01:54Piacco International Airport after an engine ran out of fuel.
