00:00This Southerner, with a certain set of survival skills, gets something exquisite.
00:05Here's a look at the Hyatt toys with the Walking Dead Exquisite Super Series, Daryl Dixon.
00:10This highly articulated 1-12 scale action figure from The Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon stands 6.2 inches tall and faithfully captures Daryl's rugged facial features.
00:33Dressed in a black trench coat, mud-covered marching boots, and a detachable canvas bag, Daryl's clothing, jeans, and belts are all crafted from real cloth, ensuring both superior posability and aesthetic appeal.
00:45Daryl comes equipped with a harpoon, a crossbow, a rifle, and his trusty Morningstar, ready to face any challenge head-on.
00:52Featuring a highly posable body with six interchangeable hand parts, enthusiasts can recreate a variety of action poses from the series.
00:59From a poncho to a trench coat, I can see that Daryl's sticking with the trends.
01:02Before that, we get a closer look at Daryl Dixon, the Exquisite Super Series, to be exact.
01:07I'd like to thank the folks over at Hyatt Toys that did provide this sample.
01:11This guy is slated to drop September 2025.
01:14The asking price online, some may be asking, $109.99.
01:18So he's going to be a little less than $110.
01:20We've already had a look at a Walking Dead character, one that was also from the Exquisite Super Series.
01:25We're going to be bringing him in in a second.
01:27But first, what I'll be bringing in right now is my trusty tape measure, just to see how tall the figure stands.
01:32If those are curious to wonder, Daryl Dixon, in fact, is going to stand at six inches in height, working out to be a figure that's 15 centimeters tall.
01:40That other character is Walking Dead Dead City's Negan.
01:42And then comparing the two figures side to side, Norman Reedus stands at 5'10", depending on where you're looking.
01:49Jeffrey Dean Morgan either will show as standing 6'1 or 6'2".
01:52Sizing, then, if you're looking at the two figures, Negan is going to be a little bit taller than Daryl, so I think the sizing is correct.
01:59With Daryl, there are obviously accessories, but before we look at those things, the figure does also come in clear with a display stand.
02:04The stand may be, considered by some, too high of a stand to have the figures displayed on.
02:09But you can easily just take the top of the tray off and just have this part as being the part that the figure stands on.
02:14One thing, though, you'll notice when you get these things opened up, and that located inside the bag, Haya Toys does include, as well, a Ziploc baggie.
02:22What's going to store inside the baggie?
02:23Maybe dead body parts?
02:24No, not dead body parts.
02:26Although, no, what you can actually do is store all the accessories that aren't currently being displayed with Daryl.
02:32Just put them inside the baggie, roll them back up, and store them conveniently inside the box so there's a place at least to put them,
02:38where you don't have to go back to your storage.
02:40You don't have to go looking around for where that box went.
02:42And where did the box go for Walking Dead's Daryl Dixon?
02:45Everything is here, right on the ready.
02:48Then, of course, again, you've got yourself the display stand lids.
02:50Now, the lids themselves, you can still attach the display stand neck.
02:54But then again, some would just prefer to have the stand being displayed like this.
02:58Because, again, then that's going to be the same height as all the other figures on your shelf.
03:01You then have two options available.
03:03One that has, though, the Walking Dead Daryl Dixon printed on the front.
03:07One that doesn't have that, though.
03:09This one does have at least more breathing holes.
03:12More breathing holes.
03:13Because this one actually only really has the one.
03:15So when you get yourself the adjustable neck.
03:17I know it's a little on the lengthy side.
03:20But, you know, again, if you want to have them displayed right in the back, right in the middle.
03:23Perfect place to really view a movie.
03:25Then you can store it there or you can display it there.
03:27If, though, you'd like to have variety.
03:29Everybody really loves to have variety.
03:32You can still plug it in that same place as before.
03:34But you can plug it over here.
03:36Over here.
03:36It looks like the theater is completely empty.
03:38You can choose.
03:39Whoa!
03:39You can choose exactly what seat, if you don't drop it.
03:42What exact seat you want to have the figure displayed on.
03:44Now, obviously, looking at the length of this neck.
03:48No one in their right mind is probably going to be using a neck this long.
03:52Because, I mean, obviously, unless you're having Daryl Dixon flying in the sky.
03:54But, at least, though, what you can do is detach the parts that you don't want.
03:58So, let's say we want to just keep this part.
04:01And then we want to get rid and remove altogether these knuckle joints.
04:04You just take the top part off and just throw this.
04:07No, don't throw this.
04:08Maybe put it inside, in fact, the bag.
04:10Then take the neck that we want to keep.
04:13Keep the waist clip on there.
04:15And we just basically open that up.
04:17And then it'll fit then around Daryl's waist.
04:20Now, I may have even chose poorly not to have a much longer neck.
04:23But the idea is still there.
04:25You can have the neck exactly the length that you want to have it.
04:28And then you can have your figures displayed on the shelf.
04:30I don't really ideally like having multiple holes like this.
04:33Generally, though, when I've displayed all my exquisite mini-series figures on the shelf,
04:37I usually go with just the regular lid.
04:40The lid that has at least the name.
04:42Because, again, at least you know the characters.
04:43And you know the series that they're from.
04:45Lots get loaded with the figure.
04:47Lots of hands, too.
04:48Daryl Dixon has a total of eight swappable hands.
04:51Now, already on the ends of his forearms are what I feel to be pretty useless relaxed hands.
04:56Because if you have plans at all to have the figure displayed with any one of the weapons,
05:00then these relaxed hands isn't going to cut it.
05:03Speaking of cutting it, by the way, though,
05:04he does also have a couple of hands that already have molded-in knives.
05:07But before we actually talk about those things,
05:09if you do want to swap these out,
05:10pop them off from the provided post on the ends of his forearms,
05:13perhaps entertain then the idea that the figure does have a couple of gripping hands.
05:17A little bit smaller in size, ideal for holding, like, the arrows, for example.
05:22He does also have much wider hands,
05:24one specifically dedicated to fit around a trigger,
05:26one a much wider one to hold the understock of the gun.
05:30The figure does also have, as I already sort of gave it away,
05:33two knives, two hands that already have knives embedded into them.
05:37Now, you can't take these knives off.
05:39They're permanently molded in place.
05:41Some would cry foul.
05:42Say, why?
05:42Why take the time to mold hands with knives when you can't remove them?
05:47Well, he already has gripping hands over here.
05:49Why?
05:49I mean, this seems so much smarter.
05:52I mean, yes, it's going to be more of a plastic for the company to have to produce.
05:55But if you have plans already for a figure to hold knives,
05:58why not just produce hands that already have the knives in their hands
06:01so you don't have to worry about losing them at all?
06:05The figure does also come included, of course, with his Morningstar.
06:08I like that the Morningstar at least has a dangling, real, functioning chain.
06:11This can, of course, fit into any one of those hands.
06:17I guess if we want to show you guys here, let's grab one of the smaller gripping hands.
06:21The plastic, by the way, for these fingers is pretty forgiving, too.
06:24So it's easy to get things like the Morningstar in there,
06:27providing you get past his thumb.
06:29Slide it all the way in there.
06:31And now Daryl Dixon has his flying Morningstar.
06:35Put that off the side.
06:37The figure does also come included with his Harpoon.
06:39Now, the Harpoon's a fairly large thing.
06:41He can use it really as certainly a walking stick.
06:43He can use it to impale the undead
06:45or anybody that's going to get in his neighboring way.
06:49It does have a point on the end.
06:50It's not super sharp of a point, though,
06:51so you're not going to worry about drawing any bit of blood.
06:54It's cast really well.
06:55I like the coloring that they've used for the darker chestnut brown,
06:58and there's a few little dark, like, gunmetal gray accents in there as well.
07:02Now, the figure does also come included with his rifle.
07:07The rifle doesn't seem to have anything that moves.
07:10There's no moving flint on the back,
07:11but all in all, just a really nice-looking rifle.
07:14I had the figure displayed at the beginning of this review,
07:16the opener of this review with a figure with the rifle in his hand.
07:20I think, though, likely going to be displaying the figure with his crossbow.
07:22It just sort of seems the Daryl Dixon thing to do.
07:25Speaking of the crossbow, yeah,
07:27the figure does also come included with his crossbow.
07:29It does actually have real threading on there, too.
07:32So, while everything else is cast here in black plastic,
07:35a little bit of nice silver added in there as well,
07:37they did actually put in real threading.
07:40Now, you can actually get yourself these arrows.
07:42Now, you get a total of three arrows, if I can pick them all up.
07:46From what I can see, the arrows are all the same.
07:49There's nothing at all that changes between the three of them.
07:52Kind of hold it up to my hand so you guys can see here.
07:55Like the feathers, the feathers are all kind of more of a dark gunmetal gray.
07:58There's a little nice bit of silver accents,
08:00and even really on the ends as well.
08:02They've tipped them carefully, carefully, with a little bit of copper red.
08:06Now, you're probably thinking to yourself,
08:07well, hold on a second, hold on a second.
08:10How is he going to be able to carry all these arrows?
08:12Well, we're only going to really necessarily carry two of the arrows
08:14because the other one has plans for the crossbow.
08:16He comes also with a faux leather quiver.
08:19However, you take the arrows, slide them in between the handles like that,
08:23and then basically you would just wrap that then around the figure's waist.
08:26Not even so much, I guess, around his waist.
08:28You're going to kind of slide it over top of his shoulder like this,
08:31drape it across the back,
08:33and now Daryl Dixon has the extra storage of his arrows on the back.
08:37Put the figure down here for a second.
08:39Now, we have plans, though, for this other arrow.
08:41The arrow, as would be expected, does slide in the little canal there on the top.
08:46Now, I don't know if you can see this or not,
08:49but there is actually a dedicated clips.
08:52So there's a clip right in the middle where you can clip your arrow onto it,
08:57and it clips well to the point where, like looking at this,
09:00it doesn't go anywhere.
09:02Now, there's also these holes on the sides there, too.
09:04So if you wanted to, you can also take...
09:07So let's go back to the quiver.
09:08Back to the quiver we go.
09:10Slide out the extra arrows for really how much storage space the figure does have
09:14for all these extra arrows.
09:16Realistically, you could have like a few extra arrows get a four to the figure.
09:21So again, there's these clips right here, so you're going to slide.
09:24Kind of really hard to see where we're going here.
09:26There's little holes right there,
09:28and you basically just slide your arrows into that.
09:31Why am I now having such a hard time doing this?
09:35Just clip them in place.
09:37I think we've got it.
09:38And you basically, again, just rinse and repeat until you have the extra arrows.
09:41So that's three.
09:42Three here.
09:43I mean, again, I could fit another three inside the bottom chamber,
09:47the little storage space for the extra arrows.
09:50One on the top, which again isn't going to be going anywhere thanks to that clip.
09:54And then with, again, his quiver on the back of his body.
09:57Haye really could have also included a few extra arrows as well,
10:00because there is enough storage space to kind of keep all the arrows at bay.
10:04The figure does also come included with his duffel bag.
10:07The duffel bag, I suppose, could store something.
10:10Like, for example, if you want to take yourself the rifle,
10:12I guess the rifle could fit in there.
10:14Harpoon might be a little on the longer side.
10:16I suppose that could also fit there as well.
10:18And you can also drape that around the figure's body,
10:20pretty much in the same way that I did with the quiver.
10:23The last remaining things that come included with Daryl
10:25is that the figure does have a swappable head,
10:27which is right over here.
10:28And he does also come included with his hat.
10:32On paper, I like the look of the hat,
10:34even though it's really not made out of paper.
10:36It's made, though, of a kind of a soft rubber material.
10:39But then what they've done is they wrapped it in fabric.
10:41The fabric almost does have a feel like it's suede.
10:45A very smooth, I guess that would be a more expensive suede,
10:48but it does have a smooth to the touch feel to it.
10:51One issue, though, I really have with it
10:53is the way that they've wrapped the inside of the hat.
10:55They've tucked in the fabric, which now causes...
10:59Like, for example, you want to put it on Daryl's head.
11:02Every time you try to push it down,
11:04the hat springs back up.
11:05And I think a lot of it really has to do with the fact
11:07that the fabric is tucked in there like that.
11:09Most people likely would just use the string
11:11and then have the hat dangling on the back of Daryl's body.
11:15I probably would end up doing that also as well.
11:18But to put it on his head might be a little harder to do
11:20just because, again, like they put the fabric
11:21on the inside rim there as well.
11:24Remove that.
11:25The figure does also have,
11:26rounding out the remaining of his things,
11:28a swappable head sculpt.
11:30If you prefer your Daryl to have a little more hair
11:32covering the front of his face
11:34so he's hiding his appearance,
11:36you can also have the figure displayed
11:38with this head sculpt instead.
11:40I think both heads are actually pretty good.
11:43I know I read some complaints that people said
11:45that the Negan didn't really look a whole lot like Negan.
11:47I think the Daryl does look, to be honest,
11:50a little bit better than Negan's head sculpt.
11:52Again, if you want to have Daryl with just the hair
11:54on the front of his face,
11:55you can go with that look.
11:56I probably would end up displaying the figure
11:58with this head sculpt.
11:59Or again, if you want to have his prettier face
12:01shown a little bit more,
12:02you can go with this one instead.
12:03Swapping out the heads, by the way,
12:05I'm just going to kind of hold on to the torso
12:06and pop it off the peg.
12:08One thing you will want to be careful, though,
12:10is that he does also have a removable scarf.
12:12That scarf, if you're not careful,
12:14will come off the moment you pop the head off.
12:16Take the head that we want to then use
12:18and we're just going to pop it back on the peg.
12:20Make sure it's securely enough on there.
12:22There we go.
12:24Is that the neckband?
12:25Yeah.
12:25Okay.
12:26Scarf's still on there.
12:27Not really necessarily a scarf.
12:29It's more kind of a bandana.
12:31I guess we can also take the quiver off, too,
12:33because we know it's just only going to get
12:34in the way of things.
12:34I guess also, too,
12:36not only could it be served as a quiver,
12:38but it could also be a place, I'm sure,
12:40to store the Morning Star.
12:41There's a place for that as well.
12:43Again, when we look at this head sculpt,
12:45paint's pretty good.
12:46I think the sculpting's all in all pretty good.
12:48I don't think it lets down the character at all.
12:51To compare him, though,
12:51with the Negan that we've already had a look at,
12:54I always really display Negan now
12:55with the smiling face.
12:57I know some people said that
12:59that didn't really look a whole lot like Negan.
13:01Would you at least say, though,
13:02of the two sculpts that we've gotten from Haya,
13:04this might be, though, the better of the two?
13:06Yeah, I would agree.
13:08He does have the stubble there
13:09on the front of his face.
13:10I think also the coloring on Daryl
13:11looks a little bit better than Negan.
13:13Negan looks like he's a little too cleanly washed.
13:16Nobody really washes their faces at all
13:18in The Walking Dead.
13:19They always kind of, especially Daryl.
13:20Daryl sets the bar
13:21when it comes to just dirty faces overall.
13:24Dirty hair, too.
13:25Nice sculpted overall hair.
13:28So used to really seeing Negan,
13:30so used to really seeing Daryl, I should say,
13:32with a poncho
13:32or kind of more rugged-looking clothing.
13:34He's actually, this time around,
13:36walking around with a trench coat.
13:37So the trench coat is kind of an interesting thing
13:41because it's sculpted really well.
13:43By how thick it is on the end like this
13:45really had me for a second thinking
13:46that there was a wire built into it,
13:48but I don't think it is.
13:49It's just a really well-tailored jacket.
13:52The buttons, admittingly, seem a little larger
13:54when you look at the scale of that
13:55compared to the rest of the jacket,
13:57but I think all in all, though,
13:58the jacket looks really good.
13:59It's got some nice age to it,
14:00just the right amount of age.
14:02He still has to look GQ,
14:04but he doesn't have to look like
14:05he just walked out of a store.
14:07So you've got some weathering there along the trim,
14:09weathering over here also as well,
14:11and you've got a nice little bit
14:12of weathering on the shoulders.
14:13If you move that out of the way,
14:15Daryl sports now a shirt,
14:17kind of more like a sweater,
14:18suspenders, a leather belt,
14:21I would imagine this would probably be
14:22a faux leather material,
14:23and black slacks.
14:25The attention to detail I do like
14:27is that they actually miscolored his laces.
14:29So on one side,
14:30he's kind of got more of a blue pair of laces,
14:32and on the other side, he's got red.
14:34Shoes look naturally scuffed up.
14:36They probably could have even scuffed them up
14:37just a little bit more.
14:38And the undertreads look pretty good too.
14:41It's a nice looking Daryl.
14:43I like the accessories.
14:44I like the head sculpt.
14:45I think, I will say though,
14:46that the head sculpt I think is better than Negan's.
14:48I think it's just a generally nice looking figure.
14:51Now, so Daryl's articulation.
14:53Let's start things obviously with the head.
14:55The head's going to be in our ball joints,
14:56so moving it back and forth,
14:57isn't that hard to do?
14:58Even though he has kind of long hair
15:00getting in the way of things,
15:01the head can look up and down,
15:02but it does also seem,
15:04looking at the base of his neck,
15:05that he also has a ball joint there too.
15:08The upper torso is going to be on a ball joint,
15:10freely able to move around.
15:12The suspenders don't seem to do too much
15:14opportunity of hindering things.
15:16You can still easily get in and rotate the torso.
15:19When you start to kind of turn it back and forth,
15:21you do feel though that the suspenders
15:22are kind of pulling against you.
15:24It seems like he also has a bit of a waist swivel there as well.
15:27Bringing the arms out aren't that hard to do,
15:29considering for the fact the figure does also have a jacket on.
15:33You know,
15:33looking at how well Daryl Dixon turned out,
15:35I would love to see them do an exquisite super series
15:37of Eric Draven the Crow.
15:39If this is kind of what we can get
15:40with a trench coat character,
15:43I think an Eric Draven exquisite super series
15:45would be definitely on the table.
15:47Now for the arms,
15:47again,
15:47they can move forward and back.
15:49There is a swivel at the bicep,
15:51what seems to be a double hinge on the elbow,
15:53and the hands rotate all the way around.
15:56For his legs,
15:56yeah,
15:57yeah,
15:57his legs split out about that far.
15:59There seems to be though enough slack in his slacks
16:03so that you can actually get a fairly good split on the character,
16:06whether you want to display him that way or not.
16:09Likely not.
16:10You can bring the legs forward,
16:11you can bring the legs back,
16:12there's a nice swivel at the top of the thigh,
16:14double hinge on the knee,
16:16and then if you roll up the legs,
16:17I know it kind of loses some of the illusion
16:19because there's no paint really there,
16:21but you can see though that this part,
16:23it looks almost like you'd be able to swivel it,
16:25but you can't.
16:27Likely they probably have added this extra piece,
16:29maybe they've used the legs for something else,
16:31and then they just sculpted brand new,
16:33like maybe the lower half of the legs
16:35are going to be used for certain characters,
16:36and then maybe that's why that's cut the way that it is.
16:39But the ankle does move up and down,
16:41you can rock it back and forth,
16:43and the figure does also have,
16:45Ward have normally said pegels in the bottom of his feet.
16:48No, no,
16:48Daryl does not have pegels on the undersides of his feet,
16:51just a force of habit.
16:52I like the look of Daryl.
16:54Again,
16:54I'm used to generally seeing Daryl a little dingier.
16:58Daryl a little dingier.
16:59That's nice.
17:00That's real nice.
17:01But generally wearing like a poncho,
17:03or walking around not as tailored as he is right now.
17:06Another tailored chap next to him as well
17:08is the exquisite super-series Negan.
17:11Negan came to us from the Dead City,
17:12and also Hyatt Toys.
17:14Nice looking figures.
17:15I will say though,
17:16like Daryl pulls it off better.
17:18Not only a better looking outfit,
17:19I'm a little less worried,
17:21I think,
17:21about problems with the fabric
17:22as I was going to have problems with Negan.
17:24Having though like that faux leather,
17:26faux leather over time,
17:28it's not going to affect everybody.
17:29I understand that.
17:30But faux leather can be at times difficult
17:32because when it starts to flake,
17:34you know,
17:34humidity or whatever starts to affect the material,
17:36I'm not going to have that issue at all
17:38when it comes to Daryl.
17:39Daryl's got again,
17:40two swappable head sculpts.
17:41So again,
17:41if you want to go with that one,
17:42or if you want to beeline it back
17:43to the one that we start with,
17:45I think both of them are good.
17:46I think that's the better of the two.
17:48So of course he has this duffel bag.
17:49He's got the harpoon.
17:50He's got again,
17:51his crossbow.
17:52Crossbow is going to be,
17:53at least for me,
17:54the one I'm going to always have
17:55the figure displayed with.
17:56Whether though Daryl has changed his look
17:58over the years
17:59and picked up better clothing,
18:00you can always then rely on the one thing
18:02he always seems to rely on himself.
18:05And that's the crossbow.
18:06I like that they included it.
18:07I like their stored space as well
18:09to store the extra arrows.
18:10But again,
18:11like with all the extra arrows
18:12that he could have had,
18:14he sadly only gets three.
18:16So,
18:16you know,
18:16again,
18:16like I probably will just end
18:17putting the other arrow in here
18:19just as a storage space
18:20to put that away.
18:21But yeah,
18:22I'm all in all pretty happy
18:24with the way that the character turned out.
18:26I'm hoping though,
18:26that with Daryl setting the bar pretty high
18:29for what we might get moving forward
18:30with Walking Dead figures,
18:31that's certainly more on the horizon.
18:34As I think again,
18:34like Daryl of the two
18:36is the better that we've gotten so far.
18:38Don't tell the dead.
18:39But Daryl's dropping though
18:40in September,
18:412025.
18:42The sites that generally though
18:43stock Hyatt toys
18:44have them listed as $109.99.
18:47And I still think though
18:48for the price of what they're doing
18:49and that they're using real fabric
18:51for the jacket,
18:52for the shirt underneath,
18:53and obviously for the pants,
18:54I think that's still a great price.
18:56Some of the sculpting though
18:58on these figures
18:59don't always really measure up
19:01to the characters they have
19:02in real life.
19:03Daryl,
19:03I think does pull it off better
19:05maybe than Negan.
19:06I know in the review of Negan,
19:07I thought the head sculpt
19:08was pretty good.
19:08I think honestly though,
19:10maybe the more that I've looked
19:11at the figure,
19:12I don't think it lands
19:13as good of a likeness
19:14of Jeffrey Dean Morgan
19:15as this one does
19:16of Norman Reedus.
19:17That sculpting obviously
19:18is doubled up
19:19by the fact that he does have
19:20two distinct head sculpts.
19:21One is where the hair
19:23is a little bit more
19:23covering over the front
19:24of his face.
19:24I think that works
19:25for my display of Daryl
19:27and for displaying Daryl.
19:28I've also got him also
19:29with his crossbow
19:30and I thought the knife
19:31in his hand
19:32was also a good touch.
19:33Also speaking of knives,
19:34it was a good touch though
19:35that Hyatt permanently had
19:37a knife sculpted
19:38into the hands.
19:39Sometimes though
19:39when you have an accessory
19:40that's really small,
19:42why have it as the accessory
19:43and then the hand
19:45that has to hold it?
19:46Because there's always
19:46going to be a risk
19:47that you're going to lose it.
19:48If you are really missing
19:49and thinking,
19:50well, he needs to have
19:51another gripping hand,
19:51he already has those hands anyways.
19:53Why not give him a hand
19:54with a knife
19:55if that's the plan
19:55that you're going to have
19:56him displayed with anyways?
19:58What do you guys think
19:58of Daryl Dixon?
