00:00Tourism Secretary Zareesha Hackett says spending for Tobago's National Carnival remains well below the allocated $7.5 million.
00:08Speaking with TV6 News, Ms. Hackett revealed that to date, the full allocation has not been utilized,
00:15noting that careful financial management has resulted in cost savings for the event.
00:20She made the disclosure during an interview with TV6's Elizabeth Williams at Pigeon Point Beach,
00:25where post-carnival activities were underway.
00:28The Tourism Secretary maintained that the Tobago House of Assembly remains committed to fiscal responsibility
00:34while delivering a successful national carnival product.
00:42As I said before, re-evaluate, analyze the statistics, how much we spent, look at the budget,
00:49see how much of what we have put out there into the space.
00:52As you know, our cap, see if we spent, early reports signal that we're way below that budget,
00:57and I'm very happy that, you know, we were cost-effective and we were very full into the spending
01:02because, of course, as you know, we have so many other festivals for the remainder of the year.
