00:00so let's go by the numbers here with joey p joe we were talking about brian woo talking about the

00:05seattle mariners let's continue to have that conversation well a lot of roto leagues have

00:10moved away from wins over the years to quality starts and i think that's smart because you know

00:15especially if you have paul skeins right that's what you want but i think that it's important

00:20because you are trying to to give a little less emphasis on the win because the win does take

00:25offense it takes a good pitching performance and then it takes a bullpen not to blow it and

00:29that's a lot of variables at this point so if we're trying to judge the pitcher performance on

00:33their own quality starts i think personally is a little bit better route than wins and there's

00:38been nobody who's been better the quality starts at brian woo this year check out this stat that's

00:44unbelievable so he has 18 starts on the year right he's pitched six innings or more in every single

00:49one walking two or fewer in every single one and this is the longest stretch that he's had

00:56than anybody in american league history besides cliff lee who did it for 21 straight starts to

01:01start the year in 2010 and cliff lee was about as good as it got as a pitcher i mean cliff lee was

01:08absolutely terrific their fantasy reality all the above but it just tells you you know we talked about

01:13that storm that seattle has tried to weather this season where logan gilbert went on the il george

01:19kirby was hurt to start the year slowly kirby rounded into form that's been great logan gilbert starting to

01:25look strong again but it's been brian woo who's really held this rotation together along with

01:30castillo that i think just is finally getting the credit he's due he had incredible performance

01:35earlier this week unfortunately no no hitter no w as we talked about before things just kind of went

01:42awry for him unfortunately in that department but just an incredible start to the year and the

01:47consistency to say all right every time brian woo goes out there he's going to give me six innings

01:52he's not going to walk anybody he's probably going to give me a quality start i just think that's

01:56incredible so brian woo hats off to him man he has been absolutely brilliant for the mariners this year

02:00and in the black book this season he was one of my favorite pitchers i wrote up because basically all

02:05i was saying was if he can just make 30 starts this year brian woo is going to be a star and he is

02:11on pace to do that so far so good no injuries have befallen him the consistency has been absolutely

02:17stunning and in a world where we can't gauge what we're going to get out of a starting pitcher or if

02:23they're going to take the mound every fifth day let alone give you a quality start every fifth day
