00:00and talk about Josh Naylor signing with the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
00:04We got our first Jeff Passan breaking tweet as the Mariners and Josh Naylor,
00:09first baseman, agreed to a five-year deal in the $90 to $100 million range.
00:15We don't exactly have the exact dollar amount, but that was about what was reported.
00:20Josh Naylor, once acquired by the Mariners, hit .299, .341, .490,
00:25with nine home runs, 33 RBIs, and an 831 OPS.
00:31Went 19 for 19 in stolen bases, and in that period,
00:35only two players posted a .290 batting average and 15 stolen bases
00:40from the time he joined the Mariners, himself and Francisco Lindor.
00:44In the playoffs with Seattle, he hit .340 with three home runs and two stolen bases
00:50in 12 games while striking out less than 12% of the time.
00:54Armant makes sense why every single comment in our comment section
00:58when it has anything to do with the Mariners was about re-signing Josh Naylor.
01:02Oh, my gosh, yeah.
01:04Haven't you seen a more beloved deadline acquisition?
01:06Nope.
01:07I can't think of one.
01:08And what's sneaky is he's only 28 still, too.
01:13So five-year deal, like, I feel good about the way that's going to age for him,
01:17and he's never been more nimble, right?
01:19He's stealing bags now.
01:20But I feel like from that length, too, you're getting the best years of Naylor, theoretically.
01:27He clearly can hit in Seattle, which is always an obstacle.
01:30You just never know who's going to be able to hit there and who's not.
01:32And I think it's just such a great indicator to the fans.
01:36You now have Cal Riley on one of the most team-friendly deals in Major League Baseball.
01:42Leverage that.
01:43You already have Julio Rodriguez locked up.
01:45Leverage that and retain the guys that can put your team over the top.
01:48And it seems like Naylor, you know, he almost did that this past year
01:51and sets him up really well to run it back for a full season next year.
01:55Mariners fans can rest easy.
01:56You can take a big sigh of relief.
01:59We all saw you.
02:00It was one of those things where 29 other fan bases were like,
02:04don't worry, Mariners fans.
02:05We won't take Josh Naylor away from you.
02:08And the Mariners lock him down.
