00:00We are not certain if that audio recording is an intercepted phone call and if that is the case
00:06then there are only two methods by which you can lawfully or legally intercept phone calls.
00:12That is under section 6.2 and section 8 of the Interception of Communication Act chapter 1508.
00:19If that is the case and it was a lawfully intercepted phone call then section 8.5 I think
00:27section 8.6 comes into play whereas how did it make it out into the public so that is the
00:32reason why I
00:33got an investigation. Guevara says he is unable to say much more at this time on the issue. As I
00:40said
00:40this is a very sensitive matter national security and the Interception of Communication Act speaks to
00:45some very severe penalties I think it is three years and fifty thousand dollars so I don't want to be
00:50the one to pay that time. He was speaking to TV6 News following a short walk and replaying ceremony
00:57at the Indian Walk Muruga gravesite of police constable Solomon McLeod, one of the 24 fatalities of the 1990 attempted
01:06coup.
01:13Commissioner Guevara urged the country to be tolerant of each other's various persuasions saying he was shocked to hear recent
01:22comments from certain spheres.
01:24We are living in a time where I realized that ethnic, religious and now even political intolerance
01:31has come into the fold of our society and it's my one sterling plea. One of 24 persons lost their
01:40lives
01:4026 years ago and it is something that we all should take cognizance of that these persons died because of
01:48other persons' perception of what may have been wrong or right at the day, but it was against the law.
01:55I would urge persons now to take heed of that life lesson and to turn their lives around and do
02:03not fall into that trap.
