Are You Oversharing and Underdelivering?

Have you ever felt like the more you share, the less impact you have?

In this episode of The Mason Duchatschek Show, Dr. Don Barden—author of Here Come the Girls—shares a powerful insight on why oversharing can lead to underdelivering, especially for leaders and advisors who genuinely want to help.

00:04If you're having a conversation with somebody and you add a fourth thing to it,
00:07you actually have a 25% fail rate.
00:09If you have a fifth thing, 50% fail rate.
00:12If you talk to somebody about six things, you have a 100% fail rate.
00:16And the reason why is because the facts got bigger than the emotion.
00:20The facts need to be at 15%.
00:22The emotions are going to be at 85%.
00:24If you overload it and start throwing more data at somebody on this,
00:29they're going to look at you and go, sounds right, but you got a lot coming at me now.
00:33And the emotion goes from excitement to a little bit of anxiety.
00:37So we tell people, if you really want to talk to somebody about four or five things,
00:41have another appointment, have another email, send another email, do something differently.
