00:00Good morning.
00:02Oh, listen to him. Not two seconds through the door and he's already judging us.
00:06It's disgusting.
00:07So what if I was born a man? I identify as a closet transsexual.
00:10Closet transsexual?
00:11It's my day off.
00:12We want to get married. So what are you going to do about it, you faceless lackey of the state?
00:16Well, I...
00:17Oh, here we go. Listen, mush. Betty here doesn't recognise binary gender or sexual orientation.
00:22And her mum forgot to register her birth because she was an anarchist and lived on a commune
00:27and wanted to smash the state. Didn't you, Mrs Pin?
00:29That's right.
00:30And she's a doctor, aren't you, Mum?
00:32The female doctor.
00:33So Betty doesn't have a registered gender.
00:35How are you going to get around that one with your bloody marriage bloody act?
00:38She's fluid.
00:40Sometimes I'm a man, sometimes I'm a woman, sometimes neither, sometimes both.
00:43Yeah, where's that box to tick, Stalin?
00:46I'm a non-practicing heterosexual cross-dresser and she's a non-binary androgynous celibate
00:51and neither of us are attracted to each other.
00:54We're only getting married to please her mum.
00:56He's pregnant.
00:57Really?
00:58I did the rabbit test.
01:00It died.
01:01She ran over it with her bike.
01:03Well, what was it doing out there at that hour without a high-vis vest on?
01:06Anyway, we want a marriage certificate, you draconian stooge.
01:09Well, there might be a problem.
01:11Oh, yeah.
01:12Excuse me, just a moment.
01:13Yes, can I help you?
01:14Yes, we'd like to buy a speedboat licence.
01:16All right.
01:17Well, I'm just down the corridor, third door on the left.
01:19I told you.
01:22Yes, go on.
01:23Why is it a problem, you Kafkaesque cog in a labyrinthine wheel?
01:28I'm neither a man nor a woman and he's either or.
01:31We fall neatly within the cracks of your so-called marriage act.
01:34Well, I'm afraid I can't issue you a marriage certificate.
01:37Then why the fuck not?
01:39The printer's broken.
01:40That's it.
01:41We got a tail
01:45We got a tail
01:53We got a tail
02:06Now I just, I want to confess something
02:19I just want to say something up front
02:21That this show is actually recorded on a Tuesday
02:24So sometimes we miss a big story that happens on the Wednesday that we go to air
02:28And it's particularly risky this week
02:31With the High Court hearing the challenge to the Postal Survey
02:34And all this argy-bargy about Barnaby Joyce
02:36But particularly this whole nuclear war thing
02:39Now yesterday when we recorded this show
02:44We obviously hadn't all been wiped out by North Korea
02:47Today we may well have been
02:50So just in case to those of you who survived who are watching the show
02:55I'm sorry that we don't have any jokes about it
02:58Obviously we hope that it hasn't happened
03:01And that you're all still alive
03:02Because that would really affect the ratings
03:04Also we won't be doing anything at all on the same-sex marriage survey
03:10Because, you know, we've done quite a bit of it over the last few weeks
03:12And we know you're sick of it
03:13But I do want to say just one thing on a personal note
03:16Because this is our last show
03:18Something that I, as a person, think and believe
03:23Rather than what my character says to set up a joke about it
03:25So excuse me while I turn to my sincere camera
03:28Now, because I work in showbiz
03:32I have a lot of gay friends
03:34Many of whom are couples
03:35And when I got married many years ago
03:38Grace and I were very privileged
03:40There we are there
03:40We were very privileged
03:44To receive the most beautiful wedding presents
03:46From these gay friends of ours
03:48And all of these gifts were, without exception
03:50Exquisite, very tasteful
03:52And obviously very, very expensive
03:54And when our friends are allowed to marry
03:56I think it's only fair
03:58And they will rightly expect
03:59Equally beautiful and tasteful wedding presents
04:02And that's why I'll be voting no
04:04Because, quite frankly, I can't afford it
04:08Especially since the divorce
04:10But right now, on to more important things
04:14That affect all of us
04:16Energy
04:17Well, there's a lot of negative energy
04:20In the federal government at the moment
04:21Almost as if its sacral chakras are blocked
04:23I'm talking about comments like this
04:26From Scott Morrison
04:26Describing the opposition
04:28As the most left-wing Labour movement
04:30Australia has seen in generations
04:32And Malcolm Turnbull saying of the opposition leader
04:34This is the most dangerous left-wing leader
04:36Of the Labour Party
04:37We have seen in generations
04:39And Julie Bishop calling Mr Shorten
04:41The most left-wing Labour leader
04:42In 50 years
04:43Now, in my view
04:44There is no need for this sort of
04:46Defeatist pessimism
04:47Because if Malcolm Turnbull
04:48Ends up being able to legislate a limit
04:50On what bank executives can be paid
04:51And put a limit on how much gas
04:53A private gas company can sell overseas
04:54And force electricity companies
04:56To drop their prices
04:57Then with that level of state control
04:59Of the market
04:59He could well be the most left-wing leader
05:01In 50 years
05:02Come on, Malcolm
05:03Yeah
05:04You with me?
05:06Come on, Malcolm
05:07The ABC is right behind you
05:09Imagine it
05:10We'd all be like Russia in the old days
05:12All them cornfields and ballet in the evening
05:16Anyway, by the way
05:20It's the Prime Minister's birthday next month
05:23And a little bird tells me
05:24An exclusive little party
05:26Is being organised by, appropriately
05:28Social Services Minister Christian Porter
05:30And he's put out a call
05:32For some help with the catering
05:34We're looking for opiates
05:35MDMA, so ecstasy
05:37Amphetamine-based products
05:39But particularly ice
05:40And also cannabinoids
05:42And ladies are asked to bring a plate
05:52Not that I'm suggesting
05:56Anyone in the government
05:57Has a drug problem
05:57But if they don't
05:59And you're then facing a by-election
06:00Do you accept that that could be?
06:05But it's not all good news for Malcolm
06:07He's just been forced to pay back
06:08Hundreds of dollars
06:09That he claimed in allowances
06:10For accommodation
06:11That was free and cheaper than claimed
06:13Now, I like Malcolm
06:15But if he's going to be that irresponsible
06:17With taxpayers' money
06:18Then I'm sorry
06:19But we're going to have to put him
06:20On a cashless travel expense card
06:21Nor has last week
06:24Been any better for our deputy PM
06:27English language mulcher chipper
06:29Barnaby Joyce
06:30Is under sustained pressure
06:32To resign from Cabinet
06:33As doubts about his parliamentary eligibility grow
06:36But like a legless agoraphobic
06:37In maximum security
06:39He's going nowhere
06:42According to Barnaby
06:45He's not intending to resign
06:47And further
06:48He's not intending to die
06:49And I take him at his word
06:52I believe that he doesn't intend to die
06:54But like being a citizen of another country
06:56Intention has nothing to do with it
06:58His only hope of achieving immortality
07:01Is if he manages to become a vampire
07:03And sucks the blood from the inhabitants of the ACT
07:06On the same scale
07:07That cotton farmers are draining the Murray darling
07:09But to become a vampire
07:11You need to be bitten by one first
07:14And where's he going to find one of those in Canberra?
07:21I'll put some thought in it
07:22Still, even if Barnaby isn't immortal
07:24Or Australian
07:25And has to go
07:26It's good to know
07:27That there'll be someone to replace him
07:29Even if it isn't his own fellow non-Australian
07:32And by the look of her not even alive
07:33Deputy Leader Fiona Nash
07:36In fact, pretty soon we'll have even more politicians than we need
07:39Apparently, our increasing population this week
07:42Means that we have to increase the number of politicians
07:44To represent us in Parliament
07:45From 150 to 151
07:48The bad news though is
07:51The Electoral Commission also revealed plans
07:53To take a federal seat away from South Australia
07:56And that's not good news for this man
07:58Because there is talk that the Electoral Commission
08:01May well be snatching the Honourable Member's seat of Sturt
08:04Out from under him
08:05And frankly, it's not good news for any of us really
08:07Particularly this program
08:08Because it means we
08:09If we want to make fun of federal Liberal MPs in South Australia
08:13It'll have to be Simon Birmingham
08:14And I'm afraid he just doesn't do it for me
08:18And let's face it
08:20No one's even heard of David Fawcett
08:22Nicole Flint
08:23Tony Passan
08:24Rowan Ramsey
08:25And Anne Ruston
08:26I mean, Anne looks like she might have some potential
08:29In terms of being
08:30Our next Christopher Pyne
08:32But I, for one, am not happy
08:36That Christopher Pyne himself
08:38Is at grave risk
08:39What can be done
08:42Unofficial spoke-stalker
08:43Of Christopher Pyne jelly canister
08:45We can worry, Sean
08:46Worry and pray and hope
08:48And rock back and forth in a corner
08:50And ask for more paper
08:51To write more and more letters to Christopher
08:53Declaring how much we love him
08:55And that we'd do anything for him
08:57Even murdering the other candidates
08:58For a pre-selection if we had to
09:00But the nerd said no
09:01For a world without Christopher
09:03Is like riding through a world without sunlight
09:05On a unicorn without a horn
09:07So, so you've spoken to Christopher?
09:10I've tried to, Sean
09:11But the AVO prevents me from coming within 150 metres of him
09:15But I did manage to ask him
09:16How he felt about the whole thing
09:18Through a loud hailer
09:19As I rode past his house on my bike
09:21When he was putting the bins out the other night
09:22And what was his response?
09:24He made a shrieking noise
09:25And ran into the house
09:26His wife came out
09:28And she threw a boot at me
09:29I assume it was one of Christopher's
09:31I had it mounted
09:32And I wanted to put it on my altar
09:34In my room where I could worship it
09:36But the nurse said no
09:37Does Christopher enjoy the level of support
09:40That you're showing him from other South Australians
09:42Or are you pretty much on your own?
09:44Increasingly so, Sean
09:45But I will never stop believing in Christopher
09:47And it's not just his twinkly eyes
09:49And his crinkly Dr. Strangelove hair
09:52And his funny monkey smile
09:54And his wild romantic promises
09:56Of frigates and submarines for us all
09:58It's because without Christopher
10:00I would have to transfer my affections to Cory Bernardi
10:02And I don't think I'm ready for that level of commitment
10:05Oh, I think you are
10:07Time now, though, for some mad as health
10:11Well, the minister for most things, Peter Dutton
10:20Has barred an anti-vaccine advocate
10:22From visiting Australia, explaining
10:23These people who are telling parents
10:26That their kids shouldn't be vaccinated
10:28Are dangerous people
10:29Now, the person in question is Kent Hecken-Lively
10:32A man who makes our character names look realistic
10:35And later in the program
10:37I talk to Claxton Machete
10:39See what I mean?
10:40From the 5th Battalion, 2nd Division of Advisors
10:43To Peter Dutton
10:43But given calls from people like Tony Abbott
10:47To protect freedom of speech
10:48Isn't it contradictory of Mr. Dutton
10:50To deny Mr. Hecken-Lively his?
10:52Shut up!
10:52Yeah, well, I...
10:53Shut up!
10:54Mr. Dutton's got his own super ministry
10:56He's in a massive building
10:58Much bigger than yours
10:59Do you know how many floors he's got?
11:00Well, I...
11:00Shut up!
11:04The big health story this week, though
11:06Is that Treasurer Scott Morrison
11:08Is hoping to get his Medicare levy increase
11:10Through the Senate
11:11As you know, the increase is to fund the NDIS
11:13But there have been some questions about the timing
11:15Given the NDIS isn't due to start for a couple of years
11:18Cynics say it's an attempt by the government
11:20To give the impression they're doing something
11:21Other than imploding
11:22But I think Scott is genuine
11:25If a little overly optimistic
11:27Here he is talking to Fran Kelly
11:28About the NDIS' proposed start time
11:31If you get it through
11:32And it goes through quickly
11:33Is there any thought to bringing forward the start date?
11:36This is designed to bring the money in
11:39When the bills come in
11:40And that's in 1920
11:41So this is a very targeted measure
11:43Yeah, I'll say
11:45A retrospective levy targeting taxpayers
11:48All the way back to 1920
11:49Should raise a lot of money
11:51But introducing a piece of legislation
11:53That defies space-time physics
11:54Is going to be a challenge
11:56For the crossbench senators
11:57To get their head around
11:58Given that most of them
11:59Can barely sharpen a pencil
12:00Former advisor to Jackie Lambie
12:03And now Mantis Health Senate expert
12:04Dolly Norman
12:05Dolly, is the government able to marshal
12:12The disparate and sometimes competing agendas
12:14Of the crossbenchers
12:15With sufficient inducement
12:16Without fatally compromising
12:18Their already fragile credibility
12:20Are the crossbenchers
12:24The ones who are really angry over time?
12:27Because that's mostly Erica Betts
12:29And Kevin Andrews
12:30No, no, no
12:30I mean people like Pauline Hanson
12:32She was only going to support
12:34The government's media reform bill
12:35If they punished the ABC for it
12:37Oh, well
12:38She and George Brandis
12:39Don't exactly get along like a cross on fire
12:42Do they, Sean?
12:43Remember when George Brandis
12:45Told her off for wearing that burka thing?
12:47Yes, yes
12:47Yeah
12:48Well, Pauline said
12:49If she'd had her time again
12:51And I quote
12:52Wouldn't change a thing, Sam
12:54Wouldn't change a thing
12:55Wouldn't change a thing
12:57But that was not the big story in the Senate
13:01I don't think what she was wearing
13:02Have a look at this
13:05Okay
13:06So just tell me
13:07What was Brian Burstyn wearing?
13:10A purple shirt with a white tie?
13:14Oh, I mean
13:15I've got more taste in my arsehole
13:17What about Jackie Lambie?
13:35I used to really like that yellow scarf
13:37She used to wear a lot
13:38No, no, no, no
13:38I mean in terms of supporting
13:40Government legislation
13:43But before the last adjournment
13:45She apparently told Scott Morrison several times
13:47She'd support the Medicare levy
13:49If the threshold was raised
13:51Oh, yeah
13:52Well, look
13:53Jackie's all over her face at the moment, Sean
13:55A former staff member
13:57Not me
13:58Okay
13:58Is suing her for wrongful dismissal
14:01And he is alleging things about her drinking
14:04And about her aggressive behaviour
14:08And her use of explicit language
14:10Like coming into the office
14:12And announcing all the time
14:13She desperately needed a root
14:15And is that true?
14:18Um, I don't know, Sean
14:20I only ever got her her coffee
14:23When she asks for it
14:24That is all
14:25But, look
14:27This is about her reputation
14:30As she says
14:31All I have is my reputation
14:32And he is trying to take that away from me
14:35For what is it
14:36But the immortal turd said
14:38He that belchers my purse
14:41Belchers trash
14:43But he that belchers off me
14:45My good name
14:46Makes me poor indeed
14:48Yes, I think the word is filch
14:57I've been running my stuff past Animal Crab
15:02And she's been just giving me some very good advice
15:04On how to be a political reporter
15:05In fact, Sean
15:07I'm thinking of auditioning to replace her
15:09In the next series of Kitchen Cabinet
15:12Oh, perhaps you would like to try some Jack's Crackers with cubes of cheese on them
15:17Oh, that's very nice, Dolly
15:19Oh, my dressing's come off
15:22I'm going to have to re-cheese for crackers
15:23Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
15:31Hey, hey, hey, hey
15:33No, it's, uh, you've misheard
15:35Dolly said re-cheese the crackers
15:39Not release the kraken
15:40I'm sorry
15:40That's not your cue line
15:42you'll have to go back into the cupboard into the cupboard and if you could weld
15:56it shut once you're inside still to come later in that would you like to finish
16:07my sentence golly this week on antiques Roadshow there's a distinctly Australian flavor it's in
16:16remarkable condition for something that's been obsolete for so long what I think we're
16:21dealing with here Gail is a fibre to the node box from Australia's NBN technology from days
16:32long gone by and and what sort of price would you put on it well I could say 50 billion dollars but
16:39then that could be 80 billion dollars in two years time Antiques Roadshow Saturday 5 30
16:46these elephants will meet for life although they will stop every week or so for a toilet break or
16:55meals most are too tired to tell the difference Sean McCall of sex crazed elephants of the Kalahari
17:01coming soon time now though for finance news with Luanne Clutterbuck that's exactly right Sean and in
17:12the wake of money laundering allegations the Commonwealth Bank shareholder class action over
17:17the share price drop could cost the bank millions causing another share price drop and leading
17:23shareholders to take another class action against themselves for bringing the class action costing
17:28themselves millions and thereby putting in jeopardy the original class action over the original share
17:34price drop so good news for the bank there Sean thanks Luanne well the PM has kicked some energy
17:41retailer ass again this week frog marching power industry leaders back into Parliament House and
17:46waterboarding them until finally unable to take any more they cracked and promised to write us a letter on
17:51top of the postal survey this promise of more mail about our power prices is another huge if
17:56suspicious boost for Australia Post lots more those letters will be sent out by Christmas to be
18:03specific by government office assistant Keith Christmas but what's important is that these letters
18:10will invite those customers to go to the energy made easy website now the energy made easy website is
18:17part of a whole raft of new government websites that I believe in the interest of balance are brilliant
18:22and will make and will make life easier for all of us there it is energy made easy it sounds so
18:27simple doesn't it but if you're interested there's also same-sex marriage made easy not being a foreign
18:33citizen made easy winning a news poll made easy and shutting Tony Abbott up made easy
18:39the answer though to cheaper power bills really depends on the question and the only question you've got to
18:47ask is am I on the best deal and if not put me on it giggle pathogen spokesperson for consumer group we
18:54can't be bothered shopping around is on the best deal really the only question you have to ask well
18:59that is oversimplifying things a bit Sean I mean you call up these energy companies the first question
19:04you have to ask is hello to establish if anyone is on the line and then there's a whole host of rhetorical
19:10questions to ask yourself while you're stuck on hold why am I with this provider why do I need to wait until
19:15Christmas for a letter outlining my potentially cheaper contract options how hard can it be to
19:19draft a bloody letter outlining my options simply and clearly and posting it to me sometime in the
19:23next month or this week I mean Jesus H Christ on a bike you'd be able to whip off a big fucking red
19:28capital letters final notice bill if I was a day late in my payments wouldn't you and then I suppose
19:34the only question left to ask is am I on the best deal well no well I've hung up haven't I
19:39I don't even know why we bother but right now we cross to our mad as hell affiliate station for an
19:48update on the thermonuclear situation North Korea Beverly thanks Bev of course this news on the back of
20:01Kim Jong-un's H bomb test and provocative missile launch last week proves again just how unpredictable
20:06North Korea has become the most recent missile flew over the northern island of what is it
20:13Hokkaido and I don't think it's any coincidence that this is precisely the sort of trajectory
20:19that a harpoon takes as it heads from a Japanese research vessel towards a whale clearly this missile
20:25launch is an anti-whaling statement and it suggests to me that Greenpeace has assumed control of North
20:32Korea as if North Korea wasn't left-wing enough and I believe this because activist group Sea Shepherd
20:39says it won't be defending whales in the Southern Ocean this year after Japan announced it would send
20:44its Navy to the region prompting former legitimately elected Green Senator Bob Brown to say the Prime
20:50Minister and his government need to get a spine to protect these Australian whales in our backyard from
20:58this illegal slaughter yeah although I'm not sure about the notion of Australian whales if we can't be
21:05sure about the nationality of land-based members of Parliament how can we be sure about whales traversing the
21:11planet's oceans mind you well former wife of underworld figure Carl Williams gangland widow and convicted drug
21:22dealer Roberta Williams has announced that she will be a candidate at the next federal election which does seem
21:27like a natural career trajectory Miss Williams hopes to run for the Australian People's Party in the seat held
21:33by Bill Shorten a man who despite the best efforts of the coalition government hasn't been convicted of
21:38anything yet now the leader of the Australian People's Party is mr. Gary Morris described as a family man who has
21:47conviction and talent so obviously having conviction is a bit of a party theme Miss Williams conviction is not an
21:54obstacle to being elected what is though is that she was declared bankrupt owing $300,000 to the tax
22:00office and I think that's unfair you can't be an MP if you derive income from the Commonwealth so surely if you owe the
22:05Commonwealth money they should just give you a seat
22:08later in the program I discussed Barnaby Joyce's upcoming acting prime ministership with constitutional law expert Igor Sack in fact we may as well do
22:19it now does Prime Minister Turnbull stop being the Prime Minister when he leaves the country of course not so so why do you need to
22:27appoint an acting prime minister we've got Tony Abbott who's a permanent one anyway
22:33because we need a prime minister here in Australia what if Barnaby Joyce is acting prime minister then traveled overseas and met Prime Minister Turnbull
22:39would that sort of Prime Minister on Prime Minister doppelganger experience mean Mr. Turnbull was about to die politically
22:44well that and 11 more news poll losses yes still to come later in the week
22:52I was happy with that school told my daughter she could wear a dress next year if she felt like it when same-sex marriage passes as law overseas we sometimes hear about it on the news or the internet
23:06kids in year seven are 12 years old
23:13well it was 50 years ago today about two months ago that the Beatles seminal album burst forth from
23:28their collective penis to impregnate the world with tunes so catchy that no treatment could contain them
23:33three other albums are also celebrating their 50th anniversary recorded at the same time and at
23:39the same Abbey Road Studios Chic Lung caught up with the artist responsible after giving them a big head start
23:45Brian Urgent's 23 xylophone classics sold worldwide seven copies five were returned for a full refund it was
23:54recorded here in Abbey Road Studio 3B right next door to the ones the Beatles were using well I was in and
24:01out in a week and a half but they were in there next door for about three months it must have been
24:06amazing annoying more like you could never get hold of any equipment because them bastards had booked it
24:12all I mean you'd come in in the morning and all the mic stands and the leads and the tape machines and the plugs
24:17were already spoken for it's no wonder my album sounded like crap folk trio Pablo Mark and Denise recorded
24:25their album I'm sitting on a smile in four days while the Beatles were working on the percussion
24:30overdubs for a day in the life they remember the fab four a little differently when it weren't just the
24:36bloody equipment it were every bloody thing if Ringo wanted a chair or John wanted coffee plunger then
24:42they bloody got it didn't they just because they were the bloody Beatles once mark Brian sandwiches and
24:46he clearly labeled put them in fridge come lunchtime I go down bloody George Harrison's eaten the money but
24:52being in such close proximity with them though must have been great for creativity and sharing ideas
24:57the only thing we shared was bloody wall between us and they were so loud it may as well not have
25:01been there we had bits of when I'm 64 all over our white cliffs of Dover the bang on bloody wall with
25:07broom someone else who had to bang on wall with broom was Tuffy Speculum whose album rainbow around my
25:14shoulders a piano accordion tribute to Al Jolson was never completed well they only had the one
25:20afternoon to lay down my tracks but their bloody majesties next door had to record fix in a hole that
25:26full bloody volume didn't they if you listen closely at the end of side one you can actually hear me
25:32yelling at Paul McCartney to shut the fuck up early takes of lovely Rita meter maid can also be heard on
25:38the Tottenham trios album you could barely hear us on some tracks in the end we just ended up singing
25:44along with them and pay them bloody royalties oh they have boxes of bloody stuff stored in here
25:50master tapes photographs those sergeant pepper's uniforms even even ringles original drum kit I said
25:58to them I said I'm not having all that in there I need room for me flourishes I complained several times
26:04but nobody came for it so I took it all home to your house to me flat I burned it all out the back
26:10what's the name of their roadie Mal Evans very upset when he came round he'd been sleeping in one of the
26:19boxes today for an album or indeed anything at all to be remembered after 50 minutes let alone 50 years
26:28would be unheard of and an album unheard is like a television unwatched more likely than not in this age of
26:34YouTube clips lolcats and totally amazeball gifts like this back to you Shawn well not coming up
26:55because we've run out of series former prime minister articulates values that unite liberal party
27:02officers impressed as man uses parking skills to fix police car and fears Australian children are
27:14maturing too quickly I chose these minion bags because they bring back childhood memories
27:20well that's about it from us here at mad as hell
27:29now we get a lot of emails and messages about our end of series song but despite them we're going to
27:36persist with it because I I think it's important to sweeten the bitter pill of what's been happening in
27:41the world over the last 12 weeks with the aspartame of music so things aren't that bad really tell me
27:48more Emily is that my cue yes
27:58it's starting
28:10love
28:12so
28:13will be
28:20Where once was pity, Mr. Blue Sky is living here today, hey!
