The power of social media leads a woman, left at an orphanage at the age of one to be reunited with her family, within hours of her post.

Here's Alyssa's story.

00:00Alyssa's life has always been shrouded with a feeling that something was missing.
00:05She knew herself as Alyssa, but her reality shattered to learn her birth name was in fact Petura,
00:13a one-year-old who was placed at the Cradle Orphanage in December 1990.
00:18She was officially adopted in 1994.
00:22As a young woman, her attempts to unravel her webbed past led her to the children's home.
00:28Notes from Cradle staff confirmed the mother, Nirmala Ramona Maharaj,
00:33was in her 40s and had already placed another child for adoption.
00:38Dominic Ghali, an Englishman, was mentioned as the alleged biological father.
00:44Alyssa contacted the orphanage, but no further information was offered.
00:49She made multiple attempts on social media with no leads until today.
00:54She tells us, quote,
00:55She's now going public with the hopes of finding any family member
01:11or someone who recognizes her mother's or sibling's names.
01:15She tells TV6, quote,
01:17Growing up, I have always felt a deep curiosity about my origins and the family I come from.
01:24Being adopted has shaped me in many ways.
01:27And as I've grown older, the desire to connect with my biological family has become stronger.
01:34If her mother is still alive, she would be in her late 70s.
01:37In a letter Alyssa received in 1991, her mother was said to be living with one of her sisters in La Hocketa.
01:45Her mother, Nirmala, had eight children in total.
01:49Alyssa was the youngest and the second to be placed for adoption.
01:52She tells us, quote,
01:53She's been living on her own for the past 13 years, carrying the burden of incompleteness in solitude.
02:15She says, quote,
02:17I only found out I had siblings two years ago and that really breaks my heart that I have family out there that I don't know.
02:26I have been living on my own for 13 years.
02:29As a last resort this morning, she once again sought the help of social media where she shared her story.
02:35While speaking with TV6, she received a message from someone who says she is their relative.
02:40She tells us, quote,
02:42My heart is full thanks to everyone who shared my story.
