00:00And one of the biggest items we have on the card right now is to be meeting the Honourable Prime Minister and the Minister of Parliament to ensure we can capsulate and we can put the antibiotics in the fishing industry and we can clean the fishing industry and put in a proper structure, one, to bring forex to our country, two, to ensure that we have a landing fish assessment, stock assessment being done.
00:26Speaking on a Tobago morning show, Mr. Douglas said issues of illegal fishing in Tobago's waters are also of concern.
00:35Meantime, he is also calling on the Tobago House of Assembly to pay outstanding oil spill monies to fisherfolk.
00:42Mr. Douglas claims over $3 million is still owed.
00:45Some fisherfolk, however, were paid before the April 28th general election and the names of some affected Lambeau fisherfolk were collected by Area Representative Wayne Clark and his team during a meeting at the Lambeau fish facility on Thursday.
01:02One of those key is the fact that at first sale hasn't been paid, hasn't been paid for the oil spill that we would have done.
01:11We haven't been paid in full yet, but we would have realized those type of victimization should, we should try to get rid of those type of things because it is not only hurting one man, it's hurting a whole host of family.
01:25And after failing to secure the Tobago West seat under the PDP, he is hopeful TPP, Tobago East and West representatives David Thomas and Joel Sampson would do right by Tobago in Parliament.
01:39One of the major issues is not even so much autonomy, but an arrangement, a better arrangement whereby Tobago could be able to meet the laws that the teacher will be able to implement more things and bring more income revenue earning systems, processes to Tobago so that we can earn and stand up on our own.
02:02And also to get a more better fear bite at the cherry in terms of budgetary allocation for Tobago.
02:12It doesn't matter who it is. It doesn't matter who it is. This is all about Tobago.
02:16Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
