In accepting defeat at the polls PNM Tobago Council Political Leader Ancil Dennis said the party intends to re-strategise, regroup, and prepare for the upcoming THA elections. He spoke during a media conference on Monday night. Elizabeth Williams has this report.
00:00And we will, of course, talk to our membership. I intend to call a meeting with the campaign team and the leadership of the party, because I think there are some issues that need to be dealt with.
00:15And following that, we will prepare forthwith for the next election, which is not too far away.
00:21Mr. Dennis does not believe the crab in a barrel statement towards Tobagonians made by former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley on March 15th during the practical completion of the construction of the new terminal at the A&R Robinson International Airport contributed in any way to the PNM's loss.
00:41I don't consider it an insult. I consider it a response to sometimes our realities here in Tobago.
00:49Meantime, in accepting defeat at the polls, Mr. Dennis congratulated the TPP on their victory.
00:56I think we can confirm that the PNM has lost the two Tobago seats.
01:02And I wish to congratulate the two incoming members of parliament representing the Tobago People's Party, Mr. Joel Samson of Tobago West and Mr. David Thomas of Tobago East.
01:15I also want to thank our two former members of parliament, Mrs. Shampa Kodjo-Lewis of Tobago West and Mrs. Ayana Webster of Tobago East for their distinct service to the people of Tobago and to the people of Trinidad and Tobago by extension.
