00:00NTA political leader Gary Griffith tells the Morning Edition his party is similar to the
00:06Congress of the People in 2007, with its roadmap toward transforming the country and effecting
00:14change. Griffith tells us his party is pushing practical politics and not empty rhetoric.
00:22He says his aim is to present practical methods of reducing corruption, poor management and
00:28utilizing state funds to improve lives.
00:32And not manifestos which have been something lies for the last six decades by political
00:35parties with empty promises, no cost-benefit analysis, no structure, and then you're not
00:41seeing how you're getting revenue to offset the expenditure, which can become a by-product
00:45to having devalue the dollar, having to take loans or increase taxes.
00:50Griffith tells us he has full confidence in the CARICOM observers who will oversee Monday's
00:57election.
00:58In fact, he expressed frustration at the UNC's questioning the integrity of the observers.
01:05That is not democracy, you know, that is more hypocrisy. You're questioning the independence
01:10of CARICOM observers and then, oh, you're attacking the EBC. This is exactly what I want the country
01:15to do not want. I'll tell you why. Because when it says that you make these accusations,
01:19it filters, it resonates throughout the country for the next five years. It can affect persons
01:24internationally. It can cause instability in our government.
01:26Meanwhile, NTA candidate for Ruka Lopino, Nicolene Taylor Chinchami, who is part of the Hunter's
01:33search-and-rescue team, says people want change, and she is ready for the challenge.
01:39On both sides of political parties, the red and yellow, we have failed the people on the
01:45ground. And instead of just me crying out and saying why do they are not doing their jobs,
01:50I said let me be the change that I want to see.
