00:00Why did you decide to get into politics?
00:03If you look into Trinidad and Tobago right now, the country needs a leader.
00:08There's a level of political stagnation in our climate right now, Liz, that we cannot deny.
00:14From the rich to the poor, the different echelons will say the very same thing.
00:19The economy is stagnated. The crime is out of control.
00:23We have an unjust justice system.
00:26We have an unhealthy healthcare system.
00:29Right now, there's no opportunities, no jobs.
00:32Most young people are crying out.
00:34They are crying out for representation and inclusivity.
00:37Hence the reason why the All People's Party right now is basically the mantra of the ground.
00:42Officially registered late last year,
00:45Ms. Jackson told us her party is ready to contest any election in Trinidad and Tobago.
00:52Even if they call an early election this year, we will be ready.
00:56What about the Tobago House of Assembly elections?
00:59Will you be contesting East and West?
01:02Both. East and West, as the name suggests.
01:05I was speaking earlier, and as a mother, as you would know,
01:09we can't love one child and leave out the other.
01:13So when I say Trinidad and Tobago, I mean just that,
01:16representation for both Trinidad and Tobago.
01:20So yes, we will be contesting in Tobago as well.
01:23I would say that sometimes when you're planting a tree,
01:26sometimes the roots grow in places very much unknown.
01:29But you continue to water that tree nevertheless.
01:32And that tree was watered. The passion for the people is there.
01:35So you go and you grow, as God permits.
01:39Ms. Jackson wants in Tobago for her back-to-school drive,
01:42assisting single mothers in preparing their children for the upcoming school term.
