00:00Gary Griffith has officially resigned as the political leader of the National Transformation
00:06Alliance, the party founded in 2022. The NTA contested the local government elections in 2022
00:14as well as the 2025 general election, however failed to secure a seat. Deputy political leader
00:22Norman Dindial has assumed the post of interim political leader.
00:26How I have been trained as a leader is that if it is you're not successful in a mission,
00:33what you should do is to step down to allow others to move forward with the organization.
00:37So I do wish the NTA the best. There have been others who have also resigned primarily because
00:43they believed in me and they joined just because of Gary Griffith. But there are others, there are
00:48many others who would like to step in, fill the bridge and replace those individuals who have
00:53stepped down. The NTA provided the opportunity for that bridge constituency of persons who wanted
00:58a change, who wanted something different to the PNM or the UNC.
01:02The NTA secured just over 5,900 votes in the 2025 general election.
01:09Congratulations to both political parties. They acquired 550,000 out of the 600,000 odd votes.
01:16The sad thing about it is that the 50,000 odd persons who voted outside of the PNM or UNC,
01:20there's no representation for them. That's just about 8% of the voting turnout. Sometimes third
01:25parties get over 20%, like the Congress of the People, the NAR and the ONR, and there's still no
01:31representation. So decades later, we have a flawed process of governance.
01:36So what's next for the former top cop, as he is still commonly referred to?
01:41I will continue to serve my country as my country sees fit. But it seems that I have become a victim
01:48of my own success. People only and solely remember Gary Griffith as being the crime fighter protecting
01:53Trinidad and Tobago. So it seems that all the citizens of Gotham City, they do not want Gary
01:57Griffith to lead the country. They probably just want him to protect the country. I don't know what
02:02the future holds for me, but I will continue to make myself available to serve my country as my
02:06country sees fit. The process for the selection of a police commissioner is currently underway.
