00:00It's a five-way battle for Tunapuna this general election, with some familiar faces
00:07and some political newbies in the mix.
00:09However, incumbent MP Esmond Ford says he's certain that Tunapuna is faithful to the PNM.
00:16So from Takarigua to Maracas, from Acono to El Dorado, from Cora to Orsanville, call the
00:22street, find out from the other individuals if it's Acono Street.
00:26Where's Starchase?
00:27Where's Starch Lane?
00:28Where's El Choro?
00:29Where's Acono?
00:30Where's Green Hill?
00:31Where's Shaker Lane?
00:32The zone?
00:33You may probably know the zone, but I say no more.
00:34As I said, the campaign is about us and not them.
00:35We are confident of a PNM victory in Tunapuna.
00:36Yes, we are!
00:37Yes, we are!
00:38Yes, we are!
00:39Yes, we are!
00:40Yes, we are!
00:41Yes, we are!
00:42Yes, we are!
00:43Yes, we are!
00:44Yes, we are!
00:45Yes, we are!
00:46Yes, we are!
00:47Yes, we are!
00:48Yes, we are!
00:49Yes, we are!
00:51Do I still need to answer?
00:53Again, this is only a portion of the crowd, right?
00:56But again, Tunapuna has always been faithful to the PNM and PNM has always been faithful
01:02to Tunapuna.
01:03Ford was speaking after filing his nomination papers at the Upper El Dorado Community Centre.
01:09Tunapuna is covered at presently, where we have the various sirens, where we have the
01:14various monitors, where it's on screen in order to pick up for crime.
01:17Again, if the candidate that you all are speaking about who's supposed to be popular,
01:21I think he was a policeman for many years.
01:24What has he done?
01:25What is he going to bring to the table now?
01:27We have been working in Tunapuna.
01:29Crime has been done.
01:30We have been having a series of community meetings right here at this community centre
01:34at Hillview College.
01:35We have had meetings in churches in order to bring to the people what we are going to
01:40do about crime.
01:41Moments earlier, the UNC's Raj Alexander completed the nomination process and had emerged
01:47with promises of safety and security for all.
01:52I left a place where I was comfortable, watching, but not satisfied.
02:02And I know that I can and I will make a difference, make a change to ensure safety and security
02:10returns to this good nation.
02:13So Mr Alexander, is it that if the UNC wins, you have been given the assurance of the National
02:17Security Minister post?
02:20Well, my leader has spoken to me and she told me, you know back in the day when I was a
02:24police assistant and she told me something?
02:27Well, she told me something.
02:29What I would like to tell you is this.
02:32We'll work together as a team to ensure the safety and security of this nation.
02:37Also filing nomination papers today was Tunapuna native, the NTA's Savita Pair, who is also
02:43pledging to make safety top of the agenda if elected.
02:47Well, in terms of safety and security, you will totally understand my political leader
02:51background, right?
02:53Being one of the best COP that have passed through Trinidad and Tobago.
02:57So you know we are well equipped to be able to deal with safety and as well to be able
03:02to deal with safety in Tunapuna.
03:04Meantime, the Trinidad Humanity Campaign is urging the population to give the smaller
03:09parties a fighting chance.
03:12So we have about half the electorate that does not vote for whatever reason.
03:17So we are here to ask you to come out, exercise your civic duty, cast your vote for whoever
03:22your choice is, but please listen to all your candidates, look at all the parties.
03:27Makayla Pandey's Patriotic Front is also vying for the Tunapuna seat, bringing the total
03:32number of parties contesting the Tunapuna seat to five.
03:36We consistently vote parties out in Trinidad and Tobago.
03:40If you desire real change from real people, vote for the heart, vote for change, not exchange.
03:47Vote for the Patriotic Front.
