00:00The PNM executive is inviting all party members to come out to the convention this Sunday
00:05when the new executive will be installed.
00:08The convention will comprise all members of the General Council
00:11and all delegates to the annual convention
00:15and in addition will involve invited guests and other party members and supporters.
00:22The political leader may also take the opportunity to appoint deputy political leaders at this convention.
00:34The one PNM slate headed by political leader Penelope Beckles
00:38pulled off a clean sweep of the elections.
00:41However, some of the opposing candidates have since lodged complaints
00:44with the election supervisory committee alleging irregularities,
00:48among them the Port de Spain mayor who was vying for chairmanship.
00:52We are not going to deny that some concerns were not genuine,
00:58but at the same time, as it relates to whether it would have impacted on the results
01:03to the point where there should be something totally different,
01:06no, because the margin of victory is that way.
01:09So we will be making an extra effort to reach out to even the candidates that lost on the 20th
01:14as well as to reach out to those who participated in the process.
01:18The outgoing vice chairman says all in the PNM are valued.
01:22I would not want them to think that their effort was not appreciated.
01:28I mean, Chinua Halin, for example, made a serious effort, just didn't get through.
01:33Farai, as I said, had a very interesting campaign.
01:36And Paula Gopi School is a valuable member of the party, as is Donna Cox.
01:43So these are all parties stalwarts.
01:45Roger Boynes was an MP, a very successful MP, and a minister of sport.
01:51These are all very important, very valuable members of the party.
01:55And I expect that as soon as they put over the disappointment,
02:00they will join with everybody else to rebuild the PNM
02:05and make it the strong, powerful force that it should be and will be.
02:107,100 members voted in the PNM internal elections.
