00:00At a media conference unveiling new candidates for the upcoming general election for the
00:05NTA, Timothy Hamill-Smith, the political leader of HOPE, made an important announcement of
00:11his own.
00:12And we will announce shortly the seats that HOPE intends to have a candidate in.
00:21A lot of you may be looking to find out where HOPE will be.
00:26We will be in Digamartin Northeast.
00:29We will be in San Juan Barataria.
00:34We will be in St. Augustine.
00:37We will be in Port of Spain North.
00:41The Port of Spain South, we're still working with the NTA to decide who will represent
00:48that constituency.
00:49That's a work in progress, as it were.
00:53Mr. Hamill-Smith, who is a former president of the Senate, then identified other constituencies
00:57HOPE plans to contest in the 2025 general election.
01:03We will be represented in Mayaro, in Tabakit, in Mayaro Tableland, Maruga Tableland, sorry,
01:12we got that written up, and in Chagones West.
01:18So that together with NTA, who have already said what constituencies there will be, we
01:26feel that we can transform to learn to be.
01:29HOPE and the NTA are part of the newly formed Assembly of the People, which aims to contest
01:34constituencies currently represented by the PNM and the UNC.
01:38And therefore HOPE is exceedingly happy this morning to be here together with NTA in order
01:46to let you know that, of course, Wednesday is that pivotal moment that we move to, when
01:53we have a meeting right up here in Mount Hope, that will bring to you ideas, policies, programs
02:04and a way forward.
02:06Mr. Hamill-Smith said that HOPE intends to announce its candidates following the Assembly
02:11of the People's meeting on Wednesday.
