The National Transformation Alliance has announced four new Candidates ahead of the General Election on April 28th.


One of them was a former frontline speaker on the United National Congress platform, and the Arima Candidate has been replaced.

00:00The National Transformation Alliance has announced its candidate for St. Augustine.
00:05She is Dr. Veeraduki Ramlal, who has defected from the United National Congress.
00:10In 2024, Dr. Dukki Ramlal was a UNC Frontline Speaker at the party's Kuva North Budget
00:16Talks and also the UNC's St. Augustine Education Officer.
00:21Shekinah Sirju will run for the NTA in Arima, replacing Jairzino Rigsby.
00:27St. Anne's East will be contested by the NTA through Chantelle Alexander, and Degomartin
00:33North East will be represented by Salim George.
00:36The launch of these candidates took place during a cluster meeting with constituents
00:40from Degomartin West and Central and Port of Spain South and North.
00:45Political leader of the NTA Gary Griffith says his party has around 16 to 17 candidates
00:51who will be aiming to be members of Parliament.
00:53He states that it's hard for third parties based on the system of campaign financing
00:58available to large parties through their finances.
01:23And Griffith is spewing this allegation.
01:47And while the NTA has not put forward a manifesto, his Degomartin West candidate, Marsha Walker,
01:53announced five plans should she win.
01:56They include the creation of a technical skills and digital academy, a local displacement
02:00response fund to assist families displaced by gang violence, and a grant that would assist
02:06female-led households with entrepreneurship.
02:09A youth rescue and reintegration initiative.
02:13We will establish through my office a second chance hub in Degomartin for all at risk and
02:19displaced youth affected by crime.
02:23This center will offer counseling, vocational training, mentorship, and job placement support,
02:29giving youth a real alternative to gang life.
