The People's National Movement has announced the commencement of the nomination process for its 2025 National Internal Elections, the voting for which is set to occur late next month.

00:00Nominations for the PNM's internal elections were opened on Tuesday, May 27th.
00:05The announcement was made just the days after opposition leader Penelope Beckles and the rest of the PNM's MPs as well as the parties and senators took their oaths of office as the new opposition during the ceremonial opening of the parliament.
00:19Voting for the PNM elections is set to take place on June 22nd.
00:22The PNM said in a statement on Tuesday that its general counsel has confirmed that internal elections have been called and the Internal Elections Supervisory Committee or ESC approved by the central executive will oversee the process.
00:37The PNM announced that the 16 positions to be contested are as follows.
00:41The PNM presently does not have a political leader.
01:05Thus far, there has been no official word that opposition leader Beckles Robinson is facing any competition for the post of political leader.
01:15Under the PNM's constitution, only the political leader can appoint the deputy political leaders.
01:21The PNM announced that the nomination day is set for Monday, June 2nd between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
01:28and that the nomination packages can be collected from Tuesday, May 27th to Thursday, May 29th at PNM's Balazsie House between 9 a.m. and 3.30 p.m.
01:39The PNM said all registered members of the party are entitled to vote in its internal elections and to contest the post, they must meet certain criteria such as having proof of membership and a letter of consent to be nominated.
01:54After the voting on June 22nd, the party will hold a special convention on June 29th to announce the results.
