There is no way in any shape or form that I'll ever agree that you should be allowed
00:08
to play in a bowl game when you're leaving the school to go play somewhere else.
00:14
That is absolute bullshack.
00:17
That's what that is.
00:18
Like, there is no way you can tell me a kid's leaving.
00:21
I'm out of here.
00:22
Bye.
00:23
Oh, but hey, before I leave, let me let me play a ball game on national television so
00:26
everyone can watch me.
00:28
What kind of phony ass shack is that?
00:31
Yeah.
00:32
I mean, I think that just depends on the coaches.
00:33
I've had coaches tell me, listen, the moment you walk into the, the moment you put your
00:36
name in the transfer border, you're done, you know, pack up your stuff.
00:39
It's time to move on.
00:40
You're, you've made your decision.
00:42
I've also had other coaches tell me, well, you know, maybe we can convince a kid to change
00:46
his mind.
00:47
Maybe that's an opportunity to see that happen.
00:48
I just don't know in today's day and age if that's going to be the case.
00:51
I mean, I know coaches are trying to deal with this as best they can.
00:54
We've seen some guys who are obviously stepping away from the game because they can't handle
00:58
what's going on here now with the transfer portal.
01:01
And then I look at on the basketball side of things, Jim Larenaga from, you know, from
01:05
down in Miami.
01:06
I mean, here's a guy who had a pretty good career and he's walking away because he feels
01:10
like he's, he doesn't have what it takes to get the team ready.
01:12
Well, I mean, he literally said right out of his mouth, I heard him say it and he goes,
01:18
I'm sick and tired of it, the, the transfer portal, I'm not doing this.
01:23
I'm not doing this anymore.
01:24
I'm not having fun.
01:26
I don't enjoy being a coach anymore.
01:28
I don't care how old I am.
01:29
I'm done with this nonsense.
01:31
They have ruined, they have ruined college sports.
01:37
The NCAA literally on its head has ruined college sports.
01:42
Can you imagine?
01:43
Like I listen, I am positive.
01:46
I worked for Bob Knight for five years.
01:50
He would no more put up with this than fly a kite.
01:54
Yeah.
01:55
And there are a lot of coaches like that.
01:57
There are a lot of coaches that I've talked with who said, listen, I have no desire to
02:01
do this anymore.
02:02
I have no desire to, I mean, I've had, I've had coaches tell me their situations where
02:07
middle of the season players have come into their office and sat down and said, I want
02:11
to talk about renegotiating my NIL deal.
02:13
I want, I want it.
02:14
I would get more money.
02:15
I want to be able to, you know, and it's like the coaches look at him going, what are you
02:17
talking about?
02:18
You know what I mean?
02:20
You got to put a deal in place.
02:21
And I think part of that too, is let's not forget Scott, a lot of these guys, the kids
02:25
don't understand exactly what the deals are.
02:27
You know, they don't understand what, how that works.
02:29
You know what I mean?
02:30
And I think you're right.
02:31
There are a lot of coaches out there.
02:32
That's why you're seeing more and more of coaches who've been around for a long time
02:35
walking away now.
02:36
Now, Bill Belichick is going to be interesting at North Carolina.
02:38
Here's a guy who comes in from the NFL, who's dealt with salary caps, who's dealt with players
02:43
who've had contract disputes.
02:44
He understands exactly what kind of the mentality is.
02:48
And I think he's got a better chance maybe to kind of deal with some of these issues
02:51
and not maybe feel the stress of it because he's dealt with the professional NFL side
02:55
of things.
