00:00So the folks at Alabama are saying this.
00:03If you don't have $50 million on the table right now, Brad,
00:07you're not going to be competitive in trying to win a national championship.
00:12You think there's got to be a moment right now where somebody comes to the front?
00:16Maybe it's Saban.
00:17Maybe it's somebody like that.
00:19Will we ever see a salary cap?
00:21Will we ever see something like the NFL where we're getting closer to that?
00:25Or is that just too off the rails?
00:27I don't know.
00:28I don't know, Dan.
00:29They can't put the tweet back in the whistle.
00:31They let this thing happen.
00:33And now they're trying to get somebody to help us out, Congress.
00:36Help us out, Mr. President, whatever.
00:39Good luck with that.
00:40I don't care what Trump signs.
00:41That's not going to hold water either because the judge is just going to go.
00:43Some kids are going to sue and say, to hell with you.
00:46I'm going to transfer and I'm going to play this year.
00:48I'm not waiting.
00:49I'm not doing a one transfer.
00:51That won't hold water either.
00:52$50 million?
00:54I bet you better have half that much for sure right now.
00:58Now, I mean, I have a really good friend whose son played one year at Charlotte at Ole Miss.
01:03And he didn't start the entirety of either season.
01:09We didn't give him $800 million.
01:12I mean, this is nuts.
01:14It's totally nuts.
01:16You get the right guys.
01:17You got to pay a lot of money.
01:18And, you know, quarterbacks going right.
01:20The Duke quarterback, I had him in the bowl game last year, looked me right in the eye and said,
01:23I'm coming back to Duke next year.
01:25And I looked at Jenny Dell and I winked at her and I was like, he's full of crap.
01:29He's going someplace else if he gets a shot like Miami.
01:32Here we go.
01:33You know, money talk.
01:35I'll tell you what.
01:37Absolutely, Brad.
01:37I'll tell you this.
01:38Mario called me and said that.
01:40He goes, what do you think of the Duke quarterback?
01:41I go, how much is he?
01:43He goes, he's 4.5.
01:44I go, 4.5.
01:47How about 5 million?
01:49Oh, you need six?
01:50Hey, Brad, how about this?
01:51Most of these kids nowadays that get those, you know, contracts in college, when you go to the NFL, if
01:57you're not a first-round draft choice, you're taking a pay cut when you go to the NFL.
02:03Is that why?
02:04And one of the reasons that maybe kids are staying in college longer now is because they are making more
02:09economic money.
02:11No doubt about it.
02:12You know, kids that are marginal and, you know, going to be a second-round draft choice in the NBA
02:17or a free agent or whatever, or maybe have to play in Europe.
02:21If you're a really good pick line or something and you're, you know, you're a 15-point, 10-rebound type
02:27guy, stay in school until you're sure you're a lottery pick or whatever.
02:31That's why more guys are hanging around, wanting to hang around and suing to hang around like the Ole Miss
02:37quarterback, you know.
02:39He's making a great move.
02:40He's making a lot more money than he's going to make in the NFL, and he might never make that
02:44kind of money in the NFL.
