00:00Over the weekend, a video started circulating, showing a group of men stomping and kicking another man under a tent on Maracos Beach.
00:10Yet, despite the incident having occurred in full view of the public, the TTPS is still without critical information.
00:17No one has come forward. We just would have patrolled the beach yesterday. We had a heavy police presence there yesterday. The task force and the police in the station district. And no incident was reported yesterday at all on the beach area.
00:33The video, which began circulating on Saturday, shows about a dozen men surrounding one man who was on the ground. Several of the men can be seen coughing, kicking and jumping on the victim, who desperately tries to block the blows, while persons nearby look on.
00:51One man among the group then gives a command to stop the assault. The TTPS is urging anyone with information, including the apparent victim, to come forward.
01:01Now, the video evidence is excellent, you know, but we need persons to identify who is who in the video.
01:08The only thing we can use the footage and which we are exploring is to charge everybody for fighting in a public place.
01:15But the thing about the fellow who was being beaten up that all of us look at and we saw, how is he going to get the redress?
01:23So, if it is, he was the alleged offender or if he was the victim, because remember, sometimes people start taping when things reach a particular, to the police, we don't know the story at all.
01:35And nobody's coming forward to tell us the story.
01:38Reports can be made to the Maracas Police Station in person or by calling 669-4136.
01:46Reports can also be made anonymously via the 555 hotline.
