00:00The gunfire erupted at around 10.30 on Wednesday morning as hospital employee
00:05Jamal Watts was cutting grass in a field on the hospital compound. Police say
00:11Watts was ambushed and sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Doctors, nurses
00:17and patients scampered for safety when the gunshots rang out. Watts was brought
00:22to the hospital's accident and emergency department where he was pronounced dead.
00:27Health Minister Terence de Yarsing has expressed shock over the incident.
00:32It is with sadness that I learned of the fatal shooting of one of our valued
00:37workers, Mr. Jamal Watts at the St. James Medical Complex. I offer my sincerest
00:44condolences to Mr. Watts' family and his extended work family to whom
00:50counseling will be provided. Watts was 33 years old and lived in Belmont. Police
00:57are working on the theory that the killing was gang-related. This is the
01:02second fatal shooting for the year on the premises of a public hospital. A 21
01:07year old man from Belmont, Jayden Reyes was shot and killed on June 2nd on the
