00:00Another person has succumbed to the dengue virus, taking the death toll to six.
00:04The Ministry of Health provided us an update this afternoon.
00:08The ministry says there are 666 laboratory-confirmed cases of dengue fever.
00:14Dengue fever may be spread by the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito.
00:19Symptoms appear within five to six days of being bitten and last for one to two weeks and may
00:25include fever, headaches, which can sometimes be severe, pain behind the eyes, muscle and
00:32joint pains, skin rash, nausea and or vomiting, as well as diarrhea.
00:38The Ministry of Health is urging anyone showing signs or symptoms of dengue fever to seek immediate
00:43medical treatment at their doctor or the nearest health facility.
00:48It is also reminding citizens that the best means of reducing the incidence of mosquito-borne
00:53diseases is through the elimination of mosquito breeding sites.
