Three gunmen robbed and terrorized a family in Signal Hill, Tobago on Monday morning. Attempts were made to silence the cries for help of one man who was beaten repeatedly and had to seek medical attention at the Scarborough General Hospital. Elizabeth Williams spoke with the family and has this report.

00:00 Three gunmen came in, ambushed him. He was lying on the ground really and three gunmen
00:06 came and one threw himself on him and you know they started choking him, beating him,
00:11 asking him for the money.
00:13 The ordeal of one businesswoman who remains traumatized following the incident at her
00:18 home, which occurred shortly after 2am on Monday. The businesswoman, who wished not
00:23 to be named and was home with her husband at the time of the incident, later learned
00:30 that her son repeatedly called out for help.
00:34 After when they see that he's calling me, they take something and stuff it in his mouth
00:38 and the time, well before they leave they tie him up and they're asking him, "Your
00:43 mother have money?"
00:45 The masked gunmen left the house the same way they came, through the back door of the
00:51 house which was left open. The police were later called to the scene and investigations
00:56 are continuing into the matter.
00:59 The permit said kill him and right now I'm very traumatized. I'm feeling it for him
01:03 to know that we are in the same house and I was helpless. I couldn't hear nothing.
01:07 But I know God was in the midst of this because I'm a person who gets up every morning during
01:13 the morning time and check on my son. And this morning I was helpless and this is what
01:18 God had me told, "You're a murderer. You could have killed my son."
01:21 The businesswoman told TV6 News this is the second time there has been a robbery at her
01:28 home. She is today calling for more patrols in the community.
01:33 I feel the crime situation in Tobago is getting like Trinidad and the police need to do more
01:40 patrols around those hours. Right? And I think the youth and them, it has things out there
01:47 for them to do. They need to go and apply themselves.
