Transcript
00:00That's a few seconds of the two-minute video capturing an altercation between a man and
00:18a security guard at the entrance gate at the maternity department of the Port of Spain
00:23General Hospital.
00:24Northwest Regional Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Anthony Blake is dispelling
00:29rumors that it is a member of the public, based on preliminary inquiries that have been
00:35conducted.
00:36And from our initial investigation, it is in fact a staff member in that altercation
00:42with the security.
00:44Blake says the incident took place by a staff entrance to the institution, and as a matter
00:50of protocol, employees using it are required to show their ID or their NWRHA-issued car
00:57park pass.
00:58The person was not able to show either to the security, and of course, the security
01:04would have refused that entrance at those gates, and that is what precipitated the altercation,
01:10based on the initial information that I have.
01:13Was anybody at all injured?
01:18Well, I don't have the reports from the security company as yet, but I have no adverse reports
01:26of injury as yet.
01:29TB6 News understands that a guard has not been rostered to work behind a security firm
01:34today.
01:36Blake states that following the investigation, natural justice will take its course.
01:41According to the CEO, the matter is of concern, as he tells us, while staff are asking for
01:46more security measures to be implemented for their safety, they must support the security
01:51apparatus by complying with protocol and procedures such as wearing their IDs, allowing their
01:57vehicles to be searched, and following the instructions of on-duty security personnel.
02:03We as members of the Northwest Regional Health Authority, it must start with us.
02:07We put several measures in place to try to increase not only the footprint of security,
02:14but also the feel and the awareness of security on the compound.
02:18Incidents like these only help to really dispel the efforts that we are putting in place.
