00:00Influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been detained in Romania
00:03facing fresh allegations of criminal activities including human trafficking
00:08and sexual misconduct with a minor. The Tate brothers,
00:12who were previously indicted on charges such as human trafficking and rape,
00:15were taken into custody overnight on Wednesday. This follows investigations
00:21and searches conducted at four locations in Bucharest
00:24and Ilfov County. According to Romania's Directorate for Investigating
00:28Organized Crime
00:29and Terrorism, DICOT, the new investigation focuses on allegations of
00:34trafficking minors,
00:35human trafficking, sexual intercourse with a minor,
00:38influencing statements, and money laundering.
00:41Known for their controversial social media presence promoting an ultra
00:45masculine lifestyle,
00:46which critics argue glorifies misogyny, the Tates have denied the charges against
00:51them.
00:52As the brothers were led from their home to a police van on Wednesday night,
00:56Andrew Tate dismissed the new charges, claiming they were even more ridiculous
01:00than the previous ones.
01:02He criticized the prosecutors and claimed that the charges were unfounded.
01:06In a post on his ex-account, Andrew Tate accused unnamed individuals
01:10of using his tried-and-true playbook against him, drawing parallels
01:14with allegations against figures like former US President Donald Trump
01:18and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
01:21In July, a Bucharest appeals court banned the Tates from leaving Romania while
01:26they await their trafficking trial.
01:28This decision overturned an earlier ruling that had allowed them to move
01:32freely within the European Union.
01:34The trial, which includes the Tate brothers and two Romanian women,
01:38will continue following an April court ruling.
