The history of the JOB family in Tobago has been documented and published, three of these publications was donated to the Scarborough Library. Elizabeth Williams was at the simple ceremony, and has this report.
00:00The Jobe legacy highlights the history of the Jobe family in Tobago from the 1800s to 2014.
00:07Former TV6's Morning Edition host, Dr. Morgan Jobe, is a part of the historical documentation.
00:14It's something that I have to give credit to my late mother for.
00:18She was the one who essentially researched the history of the Jobe family in Tobago.
00:25And so we were able to find out that the family originated from two brothers, Frank and James Druthrow,
00:32who came from Barbados in the late 1800s and settled here, one in Belgarden and one in the western part of Tobago.
00:40The sister of the late Dr. Morgan Jobe, Corrie Jobe, and a number of family members and relatives from abroad were present.
00:48The handover ceremony is just one of the family reunion activities for the weekend.
00:54This is the book. It's called Jobe Legacy.
00:58The history of the Jobe family in Tobago from the 1800s to 2014, which is when all the research was done.
01:05And it was written by Kim Gittens-Reese.
01:08Kim Gittens-Reese is a Tobagoan and Barbadian descendant.
01:14So she has family. She's born in Barbados, but her mother is an Ottoman from Tobago.
01:20The three copies of the Jobe Legacy was then handed over to librarian Melissa Laptis of the Tobago Library Services.
01:29On behalf of Tobago Library Services, I would like to thank my family, the Jobe family of Tobago, for the donation of these three books, the Jobe Legacy.
