A clash between a TPP supporter and a PNM supporter in Tobago and PDP candidates clashed with the police, as the filing of nomination papers took place in Tobago. Elizabeth Williams was there and has this report.

00:09No arrests were made but police officers had their hands filled as candidates filed their
00:15nomination papers in Tobago.
00:17All stated the actual process was smooth and they expressed confidence in their chances.
00:24It was very, very smooth.
00:26We had done the process that they had a couple weeks ago, the day that we came in and went
00:34through with the arrow.
00:36So when we came today it was just simply about presenting the cheque.
00:40So we had a very, very, very smooth process.
00:42How do you feel about your chances?
00:44I feel very confident.

00:47We have been walking, interacting with the people.
00:50The feedback has been really good.
00:52Well the process was a smooth one.
00:54When you have a seasoned election agent as Mrs. Williams, oh, there's no problems.
01:01Tell me, how do you feel about your chances?
01:04I am always confident.
01:05If you have known and observed me on my walks and how I carry about myself, my humility,
01:10and I'm blessed by God, I'm always confident.
01:13You're going up against an extensive slate.
01:16So how do you feel about you going up against all of these people for today's moment?
01:22I don't worry about the persons that I'm going up against, because God has ordained
01:26me for a time like this.
01:28And this is a symbol, today, marked today, it goes down in history, that today Mr. Curtis
01:34Douglas, under the banner of the Progressive Democratic Patriot, will have registered and
01:40will represent the people of Tobago to victory and to free the people of Tobago in the Parliament
01:48of Trinidad and Tobago, given the chance on the 28th of April 2025.
01:53I will be the only one that is not paralysed in terms of expression of freedom of speech,
01:58thought, all of that stuff, and so make sure you cast your vote.

02:09I feel really nice.
02:10Tobago East candidates, PDP leader Watson Duke, IDA candidate Gerard Panman-Balfour,
02:16and TPP candidate David Thomas, all filed their nomination papers.
