00:00With the aim of improving community life here in Embakede, San Fernando,
00:05Member of Parliament for San Fernando West
00:08and Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Faris Al Rawi,
00:12today distributed keys to two local economic development booths.
00:17He says in recent months, approximately $1 million was spent to uplift the area.
00:24The cost of the booths is $100,000 each booth,
00:27but what we did in the $1 million of work that we did is we did much more work in the community,
00:32fencing, paving, rampways, works down at the beachfront, this area.
00:36So there's a redevelopment area.
00:38Over 30 people applied to be able to get these two booths.
00:42Minister Al Rawi says they plan to construct about 10 more right here in Embakede.
00:49He says in other areas with significant foot traffic,
00:52his ministry will be building more economic zones like this.
00:56We will be launching shortly vertical hydroponic units.
01:02224 HTC communities are earmarked for local zone development
01:12with a gated community approach.
01:16As we build the guard boots for mobile policing and we install the cameras.
01:23Minister Al Rawi says communities across Trinidad can expect to get their own booths in the next few months.
01:30So right now we are knocking on the door of the Ministry of Finance for funding across Trinidad.
01:36The minister is entertaining those requests now.
01:38You know we're coming up to a budget cycle very shortly.
01:41So I expect that between the end of this financial year and the beginning of the next financial year,
01:46you'll see heavy development happening.
