00:00with the 27th overall pick out of Illinois. And one of the five
00:07best scores in college basketball a season ago,
00:10Terrence Shannon, Jr. He goes to Minnesota at 27th overall for
00:16most of the pre draft process and throughout the 2023-24
00:20college basketball season, Terrence Shannon, Jr. was a
00:23complicated prospect. He was suspended for six games stemming
00:27from an arrest due to a rape charge in Lawrence, Kansas. But
00:32less than two weeks ago, Terrence Shannon, Jr. was
00:35acquitted of both rape and sexual assault. Both charges
00:38dropped in Douglas County in the state of Kansas. Terrence Shannon,
00:44Jr. now gets to hear his name called in the 2024 NBA draft and
00:49the opening round. He goes 27th overall to the Minnesota
00:52Timberwolves. Kev, when you look at the prospect that is TSJ, not
00:55many better last year in college hoops, a historic run
00:58for the Illini in the NCAA tournament, leading Illinois to
01:02its first Sweet 16 and Elite Eight appearance since 2005. The
01:07Timberwolves who acquired Rob Dillingham from the San Antonio
01:10Spurs earlier in the top 10 now draft Terrence Shannon, Jr. What
01:15did the Timberwolves just add?
01:17Well, I mean, they had a dynamic scorer, right, who they would
01:22hope could contribute on day number one. The thing is, this
01:27is not Minnesota's first acquisition in this draft. They
01:30also selected Rob Dillingham. So now I'm kind of just trying to
01:34piece together this depth chart here a little bit. And all of a
01:40sudden now I kind of shell up on a player I'm super high on and
01:43Rob Dillingham because Shannon's size and just age and reps might
01:49get him on the court earlier. And now I'm a little bit worried
01:52about Rob's role. And then that starts to question did Minnesota
01:56really need to make that move that they did giving up those
01:59assets to get Rob Dillingham. As far as evaluating those two
02:03players as prospects, I couldn't be higher on Rob Dillingham age
02:07and all that. It's I'm trying not I can't help myself and J.
02:11Weill do a better job of focus on these two picks together,
02:15which feels odd. Individually, I get the excitement around both.
