00:00and we'll be right back with more coverage of the game.
00:03Around the association. We go a doubleheader of Game 5 last
00:07night in NBA postseason action that featured both of the one
00:11seeds out West. It was the Oklahoma City Thunder hosting
00:15the Dallas Mavericks in the Eastern Conference, the Boston
00:18Celtics making quick work of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but we
00:22start in OKC the Thunder in Game 5 tied in a series of two
00:27games apiece in this second round against Dallas a four and
00:31a half point favorite expected to take a 3-2 series lead, but
00:35it was the other side of things last night in Oklahoma City
00:39the Mavs go on the road for a second consecutive time in
00:42OKC Dallas wins outright as an underdog 104-92 the Mavericks
00:48triumphant behind a 31-point triple-double from Luka
00:52Doncic who said after the game. I'm done complaining. I'm just
00:56hooping and that's exactly what he did Dallas takes a 3-2
01:01series advantage over OKC one win away from the Western
01:05Conference finals the Thunder one loss away from their season
01:09coming to a close get a little help from your friends here.
01:12That's always a key particularly on the road. You take a look
01:14at the Dallas Mavericks had what five guys score in double
01:17digits. Usually it's been PJ Washington stepping up. He only
01:20had 10 but still chipped in at two of seven from three-point
01:22range, but look at Jones Junior 19 points in that game three
01:26of five from three-point range hitting early, but I always
01:28would like to say this. We've watched a lot of games that
01:30Luka Doncic has played basketball in every single game.
01:33I come away impressed like man. I never saw him do that before
01:36just the passing the ability to shoot from long range to get
01:39to the rim and it's always fun to see it's we watch players
01:42like Allen Iverson in the past ultra quick guards Darren Fox
01:45like yeah, I understand why they score. They're just faster
01:47than everybody Luka looks like he goes in slow motion, but is
01:50yet able to get by everybody and anybody that he wants and
01:54also the anomaly been in the series is you come into the
01:57playoffs. What is it supposed to be for the Dallas Mavericks
01:59Doncic dominates along with Kyrie. Hopefully we can get
02:02somebody else to step up. Look at Kyrie Irving 12 points last
02:05night multiple times this year is alone in single digits, but
02:08yet we take a look at that series lead. It's 3-2 Dallas
02:11not 3-2 Oklahoma City. This is a best of three that started
02:15last night with OKC being 33 and 8 on their home court in the
02:18number one overall seed. You're supposed to win that game
02:21Dallas was just a better basketball team because their
02:23superstar shine the brightest now. We'll talk about Oklahoma
02:26City coming up and what they need to do better, but I was
02:28just so impressed by the defense of Dallas and the execution
02:31and the triple-double by Luka Doncic.
02:3492 points only for the Thunder at home. Shea Gilgis Alexander
02:39does what Shea Gilgis Alexander does he scores 30. He stays
02:43under his points prop of 31 and a half, but he does score 30
02:49outside of SGA not much happening offensively for OKC
02:54Jalen Williams stays under only finishing just above 10 points
02:59not an efficient night from Chet Holmgren either. We'll get
03:02to Luka Doncic in just a moment, but Dallas as a team Donnie
03:06booked as a dog now four times in this postseason three and
03:10one straight up thus three and one against the spread three
03:14consecutive unders in this series as well. Last night's
03:18total closes at 212 and a hook. It was the smallest over under
03:22we had seen so far in any of the five games of this conference
03:26semifinal set and it stays under OKC under in seven of its
03:31nine playoff games so far in this postseason run and that
03:35of course was the story last night not even getting to 200
03:39196 in combined points. Now as we talk about Luka Doncic a lot
03:45was made of Luka following game four barking at refs seemingly
03:49more focused on the officiating than his own offensive output
03:53just 6 of 20 from the floor. Not a good night offensively last
03:57night 12 of 22 and what has been the key ingredient Donnie
04:00for Doncic's success and thus Dallas's Luka from three 5 of
04:0611 last night 31 points 11 dimes 10 boards in all-world
04:11performance out of one of the best in the Association.
04:14Yeah, we get those insider reports to from Dallas saying
04:16this was the regular season. Let's just say in January
04:18February. He probably would be sitting out this games with
04:20the injuries that he does have but in the playoffs you can't
04:23afford your superstar players to sit out because you'll be
04:25going home sooner than later. But also the fact that we talk
04:28about those 92 points on their home court Dallas not really
04:31known for a great defensive team, but certainly stepping up
04:34in some of the biggest moments. Let's talk about their offense
04:36to when you go on a road in a hostile environment. You do
04:39want to say to yourself. Okay, we probably won't shoot as
04:41well as we usually do at home 53% from the floor as a team
04:4440% from three-point range, which included 14 of 35. So
04:48you were shooting with volume there shot 77% from the
04:51free-throw line, even though they only got there 13 times
04:53just so impressive to watch this play out because me I
04:56thought okay. See had wrestled this series back after game
04:59number four. Now, that's not the case that showed me a lot
05:01for the Dallas Mavericks. And again, we're still not getting
05:04those Kyrie efforts. It's like, okay Kyrie took the mantle
05:07tonight 33 points 27 points five three-point shots made.
05:11So this is really impressive the way the Dallas Mavericks
05:13are winning where it's not always going according to plan
05:15but you know as well as I do give me your superstar on the
05:18biggest moment. Give me a high usage rate like you could
05:20had yesterday back-to-back performances with triple doubles
05:23one was ugly one was pretty PJ Washington cooling down as
05:28well. Just two of seven from deep snapping a three-game
05:32streak for the Mavericks forward where he made at least
05:34five threes last night only 10 points. So OKC entered last
05:39night. Not just a four and a half point favorite for what
05:41could be a decisive game five, but also a minus 150 series
05:46outright favorite. Now a completely different number as
05:49we will head to Dallas on Saturday night for game number
05:52six and the potential series clincher for the Mavs at home
05:56the potential elimination game for OKC minus 420 in favor
06:02of Dallas to win this series outright. They will have two
06:06opportunities and booked as a four and a half point favorite
06:09with a few days off before we head to Dallas on Saturday.
06:13I'm not giving up just yet here on OKC. So with that graphic
06:17here the way I would play it out because you're always looking
06:18to get that plus money profit, right? You're supposed to
06:21win if you're Dallas in game number five or excuse me game
06:23number six, but let's take a look at game number seven.
06:25If you just took a little bit on OKC winning in seven games
06:28a little bit on Dallas winning in seven games. That's really
06:31good because if you just get to the seventh game, Ben, you
06:34got all that plus money in your back pocket to deal with
06:37here. So that's the way I look at it. Even though you see
06:39the heavy odds to win it in six. I understand that but I
06:41do think we get to seven games here and you'll want a piece
06:44of both teams. You sit back relax and watch those dollars
06:47flow in. I think that's a great handicap DRS because the
06:51Mavericks a four and a half point favorite, but OKC is one
06:55on the road. Dallas is one on the road twice in this series
06:58every time booked as a dog in the Thunder just plus 152
07:03and that Moneyline number for Saturday evening and game
07:06number six plenty of plus money. If you think we are
07:10getting seven back in Oklahoma City next week.
