Transcript
00:00The story of Andy Johnson, encapsulated in the pages of From Lost Baho to the World.
00:06That's how the media veteran, who boasts a career spanning approximately 50 years,
00:11sums up his book, which was launched on April 27th.
00:15What I've done here was simply a means by which I can address
00:20saying something about the place that I was from.
00:24Veteran journalist Lennox Grand refers to the book From Lost Baho to the World
00:28as a quote-unquote, distinguished memoir which combines a sociological sketch
00:34of the down-south neighborhoods with an all-inclusive recounting
00:38of the rise and rise of an ever-passionate career journalist.
00:43Grand, who is mentioned in the book, notes the archiving and note-taking
00:48which forms a crucial part of the publication.
00:51Typically, his book details names he would encounter at Centennial College
00:55and York University.
00:57The first mention of Lenny Grand was as a participant in a drunken spree, quote-unquote.
01:03I don't hold that against him.
01:06Former Education Minister Anthony Garcia refers to Johnson as a visionary
01:11who has been a pillar of resilience and bravery amid being quiet.
01:16In referencing an excerpt from the book, Garcia recalled an encounter Johnson had
01:21with management at the Trinidad Express when he published a topless photo
01:25of Miss USA Vanessa Williams in 1984 and was called into a meeting.
01:31I was as calm as could be, not knowing until afterwards
01:36that everyone in the editorial department at the time
01:39and others who had heard of the reactions of those in charge over the weekend
01:45concluded that I was going to be terminated.
01:49All I remember was Batiste asking me whether I had consulted with anyone else.
01:55From Lost Behold to the World is published by Royads Publishing.
01:59Its representative Clifford N. Reinsing is dedicating the launch
02:03to the late Professor Brinsley Samaru.
02:05Firstly, the inherent social responsibility which a production of this work requires.
02:13It is to us, it's enlightened work, enlightened reading.
02:17It's informative.
02:19According to Miss World 1986 Gisela Ronde West,
02:22Johnson was contemplating writing the book since they met in 2017.
02:27I am so happy that he took some of my advice and decided to plod on with the book
02:32and finally finished it.
02:34The little I've seen so far of the book, it's extremely interesting, exhilarating
02:38and it has so much to offer as I'd imagined it would.
02:41The history that is seen between those pages I am going to very much look forward to reading.
02:47Among a long list of people including family, friends and media colleagues
02:51that Johnson is thanking for his growth
02:54is former Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Communications Network Shida Bolai.
02:59She became one of my supreme supporters in CCN for the time that she was there
03:09and she gave me space to operate and room to run on
03:14such that the reference to me doing a show with no socks.
03:19He is also thanking his wife Charlene Gaspard Johnson for keeping him grounded.
