00:00Rajiv Deepti has become a well-known face through his advocacy and work as
00:04president of the Supermarket Association of TNT over the past six years but July
00:1131st 2024 will be his last day in that post as he is resigning. He says the SATT
00:18is one of the leading names in the civil society sector. I had so many things that
00:25I wanted to accomplish for example the formation of the Caribbean Supermarket
00:29Association for example the Caribbean trade and the food and beverage trade show last year
00:36held at Centre of Excellence so for me there's nothing left to do and I'm saying that bluntly.
00:44Deepti says his focus has been on service. When it comes to charity when it comes to
00:49relief efforts I've never held back I've always made sure that we responded and we responded
00:55strongly. It does take a lot out of me me as a person to keep that going and that's something
01:02that I've realized now that you know I'm giving the group and the organization an opportunity
01:13to grow in a different direction while giving myself the chance to explore other opportunities.
01:20But in doing so Deepti tells us his love for country and national service is a driving
01:26factor. I think that wherever you see me next I want to continue that because it's very close
01:31to my heart. In terms of a new SATT president he states that someone would have to step up
01:38to take the mantle. So I suppose what will happen is that a quorum and a forum will form
01:47and those individuals interested will step forward and the electorate will have to choose
01:54from among them. Are you confident that what you built would be continued as opposed to either
02:03stalling or regressing? You know it's an interesting question and what I do know is that
02:11nothing lasts in a sense and I say that because we would all like to see it continue.
02:18I intend to fully support the group where they need it. Deepti who is from a business background
02:26says he intends to continue that as well. Alicia Boucher, TV6 News.
