The world's largest floating bookfair is in Trinidad and now open to members of the public until January 26th. The ship features thousands of book titles on every imaginable topic, as well as displays and events. Rynessa Cutting has more.
00:00The Logos Hope is now in Trinidad, and with thousands of visitors anticipated, a major milestone was expected to be set on our shores today.
00:09Post-COVID, we haven't been able to see that one millionth visitor. Pre-COVID, that's average number for us.
00:15But this is the first time since post-COVID that we're going to see a millionth visitor to come to the Logos Soap.
00:24So we're doing that here in Port of Spain in Trinidad.
00:27Logos Hope had just visited Tobago, where the managing director says the reception was excellent.
00:33Over 1,000 visitors every single day. In total, we had over 17,000 visitors during our time there.
00:39Of course, it's Christmas period, and we were expecting less crowd, so we were really nicely surprised to see a lot of people coming.
00:47It was buzzing with volunteers, eating with our crew and staff, every meal almost, lunch and dinner, and just buzzing, and also just working.
00:56You know, they were working so hard with our crew and staff, and some of the work are tough work, cleaning and cooking and all of that stuff, so they really, really enjoyed.
01:05Visitors to the ship will have the opportunity to attend events put on by the crew and staff, all of whom are non-salaried volunteer workers.
01:14And with over 5,000 books on board, there's something for everyone.
01:18Our books are not priced in TT dollars, because we travel to different parts of the world.
01:23So we have our own kind of currency, we call it. It's called units.
01:26So 100 units is 20 TT, is it?
01:30All right.
01:31Yeah, 20 TT dollars.
01:32So that's how we, so every cabinets that you see on board, there is a conversion chart.
01:37It just makes easy for the people.
01:40The Logos Hope will be in Trinidad until January 26th.
01:44We open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and then on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and it's 5 TT dollars, the entrance fee, and we are excited to welcome as many people as possible.
