The community of Paradise Heights in Morvant was rocked by the killings of three men on Tuesday night.


This incident has pushed the number of murders in the last 17 days up to 29.


The deceased have been identified as Shaqkeem Dennis, 26, Israel McLaren, 19, and Jammol Williams,19.


Both Dennis and McLaren lived in the area, while Williams was said to be from Upper Mapp Lands, Morvant.

00:48 McLaren's father, Pastor Henry McLaren, says that he forgives his son's killers.
00:52 He lamented that the state did not have a handle on crime and he called on the government
00:57 and the opposition to come together to hold crime talks like they had previously discussed.

01:31 that his son described Trinidad as a narco state and he did not feel safe.
01:36 He also said that his son made his living by forex trading and wanted to start his own

01:43 Shortly before 8 o'clock last evening, the deceased men were liming with a group of friends
01:48 under a tent in the vicinity of Building D when a dark coloured pickup truck drove up
01:53 next to them.
01:55 Three men, all dressed in dark clothing resembling tactical gear worn by police officers, exited
02:01 the van.
02:02 They approached the group.
02:04 At first the friends did not move as it was noted that the clothing worn by the suspects
02:09 even had the markings "Police" on them.
02:12 However, without warning, the suspects opened fire on the friends before returning to the
02:17 vehicle.
02:18 Dennis, McLaren and Williams were all shot.
02:22 An alarm was raised and the police and paramedics were notified.
02:26 TV6 News was told that Dennis died at the scene.
02:29 When officers arrived, McLaren and Williams were showing signs of life and were both conveyed
02:34 to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope.
02:38 However, McLaren was pronounced dead on arrival while Williams was pronounced dead at 8.04
02:44 pm.
02:45 Crime scene experts recovered 19 spent 7.62mm shells, 15 spent 5.56mm shells and 3 spent
02:54 9mm shells at the scene of the shooting.
