00:00 The people of Tobago cannot and will not get anything called self-government or anything for that matter
00:10 which involves the people of Trinidad and Tobago without the involvement of the people of Trinidad
00:21 because the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago is the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago.
00:28 Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley as he paid tribute to Mr. Hojoy Charles
00:33 and the late former Chief Secretary's desire for Tobago to be granted autonomy.
00:39 And out of respect for the people of Tobago and their consultation
00:45 the cabinet that I led put that bill in the Parliament without changing a comma or a full stop.
00:56 So if you hear anything else from anybody else it is a lie.
00:59 Dr. Rowley then made this announcement.
01:03 Speaking as the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago
01:06 with some involvement in the action of the cabinet and the legislative program
01:10 I tell you here today that sometime during this year
01:17 those bills will be put before the Parliament for the 41 members of Trinidad and Tobago's Parliament
01:26 to vote on it on your behalf.
01:28 The Prime Minister said the people of Tobago have spoken
01:32 and it will now be up to the Parliament to act.
01:36 Ladies and gentlemen, Hojoy Charles knew that Tobago could fly.
01:41 He wanted Tobago to fly high like all of us would.
01:47 But we be cautioned that we do not have wings of wax.
01:51 In concluding, Dr. Rowley said Tobago would be better off with more people like Hojoy Charles.
01:58 The funeral service took place at the Shaw Park Complex.
