Venezuela: Statue of Indigenous Leader Unveiled

In Caracas, Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro unveiled a statue honoring Chief Guaicaipuro, the leader of the rebellion against the Spanish invasion. Maduro was accompanied by the First Lady, Celia Flores, and members of the government, as well as several representatives of indigenous communities. Maduro recalled the struggle of Commander Hugo Chavez to acknowledge the indigenous peoples and called for the preservation of indigenous values to arm a new society. teleSUR
