00:00Venezuela President, Nicolás Maduro joined forces with young communal members in defense of peace and the country's sovereignty.
00:21The United Nations warned that Sudan is facing the world's biggest displacement crisis with more than 10 million people forced to leave their homes due to an ongoing armed conflict.
00:36A convoy of trucks entered for the first time the Palestinian territory through the Sikkim border crossing, an access area which has been historically restricted.
00:49Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
00:59The President, Nicolás Maduro joined forces with a community youth in defense of peace and the country's sovereignty. The President worked alongside thousands of young people who set out from the emblematic Plaza Sucre in Katia in the west of the capital.
01:14The presence of the head of state seeks to reinforce the government's commitment to the new generations and their leading role in the construction of Bolivarian socialism. It is a direct endorsement of the grassroots organization represented by the communities.
01:29This march served as an act of support for the national popular consultation scheduled for November 27. On this election day, the organized communities themselves will select, through direct vote, the priority projects to be implemented in the country.
01:36In localities.
01:37So, I will welcome them to
01:38In the province, the city of Bolivarian socialism of Bolivarian socialism. It is a direct endorsement of the grassroots organization represented by the communities.
01:39This march served as an act of support for the national popular consultation, scheduled for November 27. On this election day, the organized communities themselves will select through direct vote the priority projects to be implemented in their localities.
01:58implemented in their localities.
02:06So I call on you to join this popular, constituent process of youth to re-found a giant, powerful,
02:13unprecedented confederation of all Venezuelan youth, democratic.
02:23The grassroots confederation of all Venezuelan youth is one of the most beautiful tasks we
02:28can set ourselves, and that youth have power in universities, high schools, the territory,
02:40the community, where they work, and that youth have training, leadership, organization, and
02:46that youth look to the future for the great battles.
02:52In this sense, national leader Nicolás Maduro pointed out that the United States government
02:56persecutes Venezuelan youth, causes them harm, and then expels them from U.S. territory in
03:02a humiliating manner.
03:08In the toughest years of 2016 to 2017, 18, 19, 20, false siren song led many young people
03:17north.
03:18Now, in the north, they are persecuted, subjugated, beaten, handcuffed, disappeared, tortured,
03:25and then kicked out of the United States.
03:37Just now, they took away the so-called TPs from more than 300,000 Venezuelans, 150,000 of them
03:44young people.
03:45They are persecuting them in the north, and threatening Venezuela with an invasion.
03:49You want them to come and persecute the youth here.
03:52Raise your hand if you want to be a gringo slave.
04:06Raise your hand if you want Venezuela to become a gringo colony.
04:09Raise your hand if you want the fascists to take political power in Venezuela.
04:14Raise your hand if you want this republic to be free and independent forever.
04:23The International Congress of Legal Experts for Sovereignty and Peace took place in Venezuela.
04:28The event denounced violation of international law perpetrated by the United States through
04:33his interferential actions in the Caribbean Sea.
04:36In his opening speech to the Congress, the President of the Venezuelan Parliamentary Assembly,
04:41Jorge RodrĂguez, emphasized that the event reaffirms that the defense of the law is essential
04:47for the self-determination of peoples.
04:50In a context of constant U.S. military aggression that threatens peace in Latin America and the
04:55Caribbean, this Congress is a platform for denunciation that seeks to call for compliance
05:00with international conventions.
05:02Law experts from around the world are attending the Congress, which ends on November 14th.
05:07And the representatives of U.S. imperialism say it bluntly, what we want is oil.
05:20This is not a fight against drug trafficking.
05:22If there were a genuine intention to fight drug trafficking, or at least the devastating
05:31effects of illegal psychoactive substances on human beings in the United States of America,
05:42the first thing they should do is consider drug use for what it is, a medical problem,
05:48as well as a social problem.
05:50When we stay in Venezuela, the country inaugurated on Thursday, the 3rd Expo TurquĂa 2025,
05:59with the attendance of over 30 exporting Turkish companies.
06:03The event will be held until November 15th at the Simon Bolivar Park Convention Center
06:08in the capital city of Caracas.
06:10The Venezuelan Turkish Business Chamber indicated that admissions will be free so that everybody
06:16can see the business process under Turkish culture.
06:20The events organizers said that Venezuela is represented by more than 10 companies from
06:25different productive sectors of the country, with the objective of increasing trade between
06:30the two nations.
06:33And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at
06:41Telesur English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
06:46We'll be right back, stay with us.
06:58Welcome back to From the South.
07:00Human Rights Organizations accused the United States of being an accomplice to Nayib Bukele's
07:04government in violating the rights of 252 Venezuelan citizens.
07:10The investigation, entitled Welcome to Hell, in reference to the phrase with which they
07:14were greeted at the Salvadoran concentration camp, details that the White House paid to send
07:20Venezuelans to the terrorism detention center SECOT.
07:24Testimonies for over 190 detainees, family members, lawyers and others with reliable knowledge revealed
07:32that they suffered torture, forced disappearance and sexual abuse.
07:37The Salvadoran organization Cristo Sal operating from Guatemala due to government persecution calls
07:43for the Human Rights Council to scrutinize violations by the governments of Trump and Bukele.
07:55Now we go to Cuba. Road infrastructure recovery in Santiago de Cuba moves forward with Venezuela's
08:01support after Hurricane Melissa.
08:03The Governor of the Province of Santiago de Cuba, Luis Roberto Rosés Hernández, together with a
08:07specialist from the Ministry of Construction and the Venezuelan delegation, made two tours
08:14of the affected areas. The Venezuelan and Cuban experts concluded that the main damage is located
08:20along the entire southern coast of the province, especially in the municipality of Guamá.
08:26Due to the high number of damaged road infrastructures, the delegations will work together to gradually
08:31resolve most of the damage identified, given the complexity of the work.
08:42On Wednesday, Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel officially inaugurated the Martyrs of Barbados'
08:48second photovoltaic park in the province of Artemisa, in the west of the country.
08:53This project marks the ending of the first phase of a strategic donation from the People's
08:58Republic of China, designed to strengthen the Cuban energy development.
09:02The initial phase has connected a total of seven solar parks with a generation capacity
09:08of 35 MW to the national electricity system. Cuban authorities expressed their gratitude
09:14to China, not only for this energy contribution, but also for the rapid humanitarian aid provided
09:21after the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa. A second phase is currently under development,
09:26which will add an additional 85 MW to the system.
09:37Meanwhile in Ecuador, unions are mobilizing nationwide to reject the popular consultation and referendum
09:43promoted by President Daniel Novoa. The National Union of Educators and the United Workers Front
09:49denounced that the reforms promoted by Novoa through the popular consultation could affect
09:55labor and social security rights, undermining Ecuadoran democracy. In addition, it should
10:00be noted that various social movements denounced the government's use of state funds to finance
10:07the Just Campaign and therefore urged the National Electoral Consul to exercise control.
10:14Also, let's recall that Novoa is seeking to hold a referendum proposing to convene a Constituent
10:21Assembly that would lead to the possible elimination of the prohibition on the establishment of foreign
10:27military bases in the country.
10:32This November 16th, we say no to Daniel Novoa, because we understand that this is a referendum that
10:40is costing $60 million which could have been redistributed to other urgent needs in Ecuador.
10:48A constitution that bothers those in power is at risk. They want to return to that old 1998
10:55neoliberal constitution that favored the wealthy.
11:00We are here defending the university budget, defending free higher education. We will not allow an indifferent
11:07president born in Miami to take away this right that we want in the streets.
11:15In other information, the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti warned about the serious security
11:22crisis in the country. More than 1,200 people died and 700 were injured in the third quarter of 2025.
11:29The report indicates that 63% of the victims died during police operations and warns that the expansion
11:37of criminal groups into new areas of the country is exacerbating insecurity and hindering peaceful efforts.
11:45In addition to the murders, there were 400 cases of sexual violence mainly affecting women and girls.
11:53The United Nations Office urged the Haitian state to strengthen its judicial institutions and requested
11:58international support to combat crime and rehabilitate children recruited by criminal groups whose power
12:05continue to go unchallenged by the multinational security mission.

12:31Welcome back to From the South. The United Nations warns that Sudan is facing the world's biggest
12:50displacement crisis with more than 10 million people forced to leave their homes. After a meeting with the
12:56President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the United Nations
13:03Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Don Fletcher, stated that the situation in the country is
13:09critical. Millions of people have been forcibly displaced due to clashes between the National Army and the
13:16paramilitary rapid support forces. In addition, 25 million people are facing acute food insecurity, making the
13:23that the Sudanese case and one of the world's largest humanitarian emergencies.
13:27The Palestinian Prisoner Society, PBS, informed that Israeli forces apprehended
13:57a total of 40 Palestinians, including several former prisoners in raids, carried out in
14:02the occupied West Bank on Wednesday night.
14:05The wave of arrests took place in the areas of Hebron, Nablus, Tulkarem and Ramallah.
14:11In this regard, the organization also reported that science forces assaulted the families
14:16of those detained and vandalized their homes during the raids.
14:19According to the PBS, Israel has made nearly 20,500 arrests in almost daily raids in the
14:26occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023.
14:37Also in Palestine, a convoy of trucks entered for the first time in the Palestinian territory
14:41through the Sikkim border crossing an access area which have been historically restricted.
14:47Although the operation is being carried out by the United Nations and various international
14:52agencies, all cargo must pass strict security inspections by the Israeli authorities before
14:58it can be distributed to Palestinian families.
15:02Three weeks ago, the World Food Programme already warned about the insufficiency of the aid that
15:08was trying to get through.
15:09On the other hand, in July, humanitarian organizations warned that half a million people were already
15:15in a state of declared famine as a direct result of the prolonged Israeli siege.
15:21The opening of Sikkim is a relief, but the international community wonders if this corridor will continue
15:27to remain open.
15:33And Palestinian organizations reported a record increase of attacks by Israeli settlers against
15:40the civilian population in the occupied West Bank.
15:43According to the organizations, Israeli settlers set fire to a mosque in the town of Salfit and
15:50sprayed racist graffiti on the walls of its temple.
15:54The action is part of an unprecedented escalation of violence with more than 2,300 attacks against
16:00Palestinian civilians documented in October alone.
16:04Analysts say the violence seeks to facilitate the expansion of illegal settlements and the annexation
16:11of territories in parallel with the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip.
16:23In other informations, the Global South gathers once again to discuss history, cooperation and
16:29international solidarity at an academic forum that seeks to give a voice to the countries
16:34of the Southern Hemisphere.
16:35Our correspondent Bruno Falzi brings us more details from Shanghai, China.
16:41In Shanghai, China, the third edition of the Global South Academic Forum is on the way.
16:47Scholars and leaders are analyzing World War II and seeking to strengthen ties between Asia,
16:54Africa and Latin America.
16:56Delegates from over 20 countries and major academic institutions are taking part.
17:01This year is a number of private people.
17:08It is a number of private members.
17:10It is a number of private partners in Asia.
17:11It is a number of private partners who have given us all having equality, especially when I
17:12come to Asia.
17:13I went to visit MSD, and MSD, and ENFF schools.
17:23So I wanted to be proud of MSD and its power and power, and its political power.
17:34So I think we need to...
17:36We were always interested in TELUSU.
17:41But we didn't have the opportunity to understand TELUSU in Tsarvesis's time and development.
17:51The Forum also revisits the roots of the anti-fascist struggle,
17:55highlighting the roles of China and the Soviet Union,
17:59a debate linking history, memory to current global challenges.
18:04The first lie is that the United States leading the collective West was actually anti-fascist.
18:11It's not true. They were not.
18:14And the second great lie was that the collective West, whether in Europe or in the Pacific, defeated fascism.
18:21Not true. In fact, the West allied with the fascists against the communists from 1917 onwards.
18:29And it was the immense sacrifice of the Chinese and the Soviets and other people in colonized places that defeated the fascists.
18:39There were 50 million people in Asia died to defeat the fascists.
18:44You know, only half a million people from the United States died in World War II.
18:49In Bengal itself, three million people died.
18:52The meeting underscores Latin American role in a world still marked by Western influence,
19:00promoting dialogue among universities and social movements.
19:05For America Latina, this forum is very important.
19:09Because it's a possibility to get out of the doctrine of Monroe, among other things.
19:14It's like that connection that there is with the rest of the world,
19:20with all the countries of the globe.
19:25In Latin America we have not had much contact with the other continents,
19:34because we've always been close to the Paraguas of the United States or Europe.
19:44We've been in a Western world since a long time ago.
19:50Participants highlighted the need to build a fairer world order
19:55and strengthen cooperation among the countries of the global south.
