00:00Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro
00:12joined forces with German criminal members in defense of peace and the country's sovereignty.
00:20The Mexican government has launched an offensive against at least 12 drug cartels
00:25operating in the state of Michoacán in the western part of the country.
00:29In the United States, President Donald Trump's approval rating
00:35has reached its lowest point of his second term.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South from the headquarters of Treasure English in Havana, Cuba.
00:50My name is Pablo Micheliche. We begin with the news. Stay with us.
00:59Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro joined forces with community youth in defense of peace and the country's sovereignty.
01:13The President worked alongside thousands of young people who set out from the emblematic Plaza Sucre in Catia in the west of the capital.
01:21The presence of the head of the state seeks to reinforce the government's commitment to the new generations
01:27and their leading role in the construction of Bolivarian socialism.
01:31It is a direct endorsement of the grassroots organization represented by the communes.
01:36This march served as an act of support for the national popular consultation scheduled for November 23.
01:45On this election day, the organized communes themselves will select through direct vote
01:50their priority projects to be implemented in their localities.
01:54So I call on you to join this popular, constituent process of youth to re-found a giant, powerful,
02:06unprecedented confederation of all Venezuelan youth, democratic.
02:11Grassroots confederation of all Venezuelan youth, is one of the most beautiful tasks we can set ourselves,
02:22and that youth have power in universities, high schools, the territory, the community, where they work,
02:35and that youth have training, leadership, organization, and that youth look to the future for the great battles.
02:45In Venezuela, entrepreneurs have become the driving force of the productive economy,
03:04demonstrating that creativity is the nation's main resource.
03:08A correspondent, Andrea Romero, will show us a business model that is revolutionizing bakeries
03:13and eliminates the need for large infrastructure, frozen bread. Let's see.
03:18This project was created from its founders' vision to adopt successful models from other countries
03:25to support small entrepreneurs who don't have a physical space to produce.
03:30A frozen bread project is an idea that was born after traveling and getting to know the culture abroad,
03:38where they work with frozen bread.
03:41So I thought, why don't we introduce a project for entrepreneurs who can't have a physical space to make their bread?
03:54We came up with this idea to help those wanting to start a business,
03:58selling them frozen bread, French bread, canilla, campesino, sweet bread.
04:04We're making croissants too. We pack croissants in trays of six so they can get started with chocolate croissants, butter croissants.
04:14We also have frozen tecuenos and pasta.
04:20The production process starts with kneading. The key is the quality of the ingredients and the right technique to make sure that once thawed and baked,
04:30the bread keeps its traditional texture and flavor.
04:33Right now, we're seeing the machine, the process of the savory bread dough.
04:41From this same dough, we'll make campesino, canilla and French bread.
04:47Once the dough is ready, another set of steps begins.
04:51These require precision and experience and this is where baking artistry like that of Jesus Salorzano becomes clear.
04:58He will share details.
05:01After it comes out of the burra, which is the kneading machine, burra is what we typically call it.
05:06The dough is placed on the table, passed through the rolling machine about 10 to 12 times, usually for savory bread.
05:11Once that's done, we weigh out three kilos, pass it through the divider, which is this machine, then it's rolled.
05:17And after rolling, we make cookie.
05:19Cookie means flattening the dough, weighing it, flattening it and passing it through the sacapuntas so it comes out rolled.
05:25It goes down and the process ends on the tray with the bread.
05:30The bread, once shaved and still raw, is ready to go through the freezing process.
05:37Here we have the campesino bread, which is still raw.
05:43We have it raw here. It's the right size to go to the freezer.
05:50Freezing ensures the bread's qualities are perfectly preserved until it reaches the entrepreneur's oven.
05:58Show you our frozen bread.
06:01How long does the bread last here?
06:03Frozen, 24 hours.
06:05Finally, the frozen product goes to the packaging phase.
06:09After it's cooled, it's packaged in its own bag.
06:13The French bread goes in this little bag, 10 French breads in each.
06:20The canillas are grouped by four, and the campesinos, just two pieces in each bag.
06:28Everything that is packaged, no matter if it's baked or frozen, everything is packaged and it's all done here.
06:38More than 10 entrepreneurs from the area are now part of the supply chain.
06:45And now we have a short break coming up.
06:47But first, remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
06:54We will be right back with us.
06:56Welcome back.
06:57The Mexican government has launched an offensive against at least 12 drug cartels operated in the state of Michoacán, in the western part of the country.
07:13The North American nation has reaffirmed that his fight within its territory is a national matter.
07:20According to the authorities in charge, the operation will focus on a dozen cartels, although it could be expanded if all the criminal groups are identified.
07:29The state attorney general's office has identified among these 12 groups the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Los Caballeros Templarios, the Correa Cartel and the Michoacán family.
07:40More than 3,000 agents have been deployed, according to Secretary of Security Omar Garcia Harfouche.
07:47It is important to highlight that in that state, in the past month, the mayor Carlos Menso and the leader of Citrus Producers Bernardo Bravo were moderate.
07:57The idea that indigenous peoples are the stewards of the environment has become more and more popular at environmental events like COP30, currently on the way in Belen.
08:11Our correspondent Brian Meyer takes a look at what the concept really entails.
08:16During recent decades, the idea that indigenous peoples can play a fundamental role in preserving the environment has become more and more popular in the environmentalist community,
08:28and in international conferences and summits like COP30, which is currently underway in Belen.
08:34It may sound nice, but what does it really mean?
08:37Indigenous people live their lives in harmony with nature instead of destroying it.
08:47Because for us, indigenous land is a bounty.
08:51It's there that we hunt and fish and grow food.
08:54At the same time, it is a sacred temple because it provides us with the medicinal and spiritual plants that we need.
09:01Around 13% of Brazil's territory is comprised of indigenous reserves, a percentage that has been steadily climbing since the return to democracy in 1989.
09:14But indigenous leaders are fighting to get millions more additional hectares of their traditional lands returned to them.
09:21If nations like Brazil are truly concerned about protecting the environment, they argue, they should turn more land over to the people who know how to take care of it.
09:30Legalizing indigenous reserves allows us to perform the role of guardians of planet Earth.
09:37Indigenous people can only start performing this role in the legal ownership of their lands is established.
09:44The state has its responsibilities, but we are offering to be partners through sharing effective practices that can help the environment.
09:52For the most part, it is on existing reserves where nature is best preserved.
09:57At COP30, thousands of indigenous leaders are fighting to transform the concept of stewards of the environment from empty rhetoric to a practical reality.
10:07Brian Meir, Tell Us Sir, Belen.
10:12In the United States, President Donald Trump's approval rating has reached its lowest point in his second term.
10:17According to the latest poll, 58% is approved of the government's actions.
10:22The president's alarming numbers are due to the current government shutdown, anti-immigrant policies and the increase in segregation and exclusion rhetoric in his campaign.
10:32According to data provided by APNORC, Ipsos and Reuters polls, even Republican support for the president has declined in the last week, falling from 81% to 68%.
10:45Among Democrats, rejection has increased, as could be seen in the recent election.
10:5079% of Democrats say they voted against President Trump, not in favor of a Democratic candidate.
11:08In Cuba, President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by the Venezuelan government and confirmed that both countries have begun a joint assessment to restore the road infrastructure in Santiago, one of the provinces most affected by the recent hurricane melissa.
11:24During the television program, La Mesa Redonda, the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, reported that the reconstruction after the hurricane will focus on the southern coast of the province of Santiago de Cuba.
11:36The head of state noted that teams of specialists from Cuba and Venezuela conducted the technical assessment in the field.
11:43This joint assessment was key to identifying the areas most severely affected and establishing priorities for action.
11:52The authorities will give priority to the most critical areas in order to speed up the recovery and return to normality for the population.
12:07And Aylin, I also want to highlight the meeting I had before joining the Round Table and the meeting with the Provincial Defense Council that we experienced,
12:16which was sharing with a team of constructors from the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which was sent by our brother President Majuro led by a deputy minister,
12:26and which has worked together with our troops and the Ministry of Construction and Transportation to conduct a survey of the state of the roads.
12:35An assessment of the state of the roads and work is already underway on projects to recover, with the joint participation of Venezuelans and Cubans.
12:48A group of damaged areas here in Santiago de Cuba.
12:52And that is where the true expression of the brotherhood and solidarity of two revolutions lies.
12:58A country under the threat of invasion does not forget its brothers, and here it is also collaborating.
13:05I believe that from here we must be grateful for the continuous and timely solidarity of the brotherly people of Venezuela and also of its leadership,
13:15in particular our brother President Nicholas Majuro.
13:18The United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti warned about the serious security crisis in the country.
13:27More than 1,200 people died and 700 were injured in the third quarter of 2025.
13:33The report indicates that 63% of the victims died during police operations and warns that the expansion of criminal groups into new areas of the country is exacerbating insecurity and hindering peaceful efforts.
13:46In addition to the murders, there were 400 cases of sexual violence, mainly affecting women and girls.
13:55The United Nations officers urged the Haitian state to strengthen its judicial institutions and requested international support to combat crime and rehabilitate children recruited by criminal groups,
14:07whose power continues to go unchallenged by the multinational security mission.
14:12And we have a second short break coming up, but before we invite you to visit our Facebook page at Telesur English.

14:30Financial break, don't go away.
14:31Welcome back.
14:41At least 15 young members were cured and several more were injured following violent clashes at the UN Civilian Protection Centre in the capital, South Sudan.
14:50The violence broke out as a result of a dispute between two young men, which escalated into a wider confrontation between rival youth groups belonging to the newer ethnic community.
15:01The police had difficulty containing the initial violence but have now taken charge of security at the UN Centre.
15:08In this sense, the world's youngest country is experiencing an escalation of violence that has intensified since March 2025.
15:16The incident at the UN Centre reflects the instability and ethnic dimension of the internal struggles as the newer group is historically linked to the armed opposition.
15:46A convoy of trucks entered for the Palestinian territory through the seeking border crossing, an access area which has been historically restricted.
16:00Although the operation is being carried out by the UN and various international agencies, all cargo must pass strict security inspections by the Israeli authorities before it can be distributed to Palestinian families.
16:13Three weeks ago, the World Food Programme already warned about the insufficiency of aid that that was trying to get through.
16:20On the other hand, in July, humanitarian organizations warned that half a million people were already in a state of declared famine as a direct result of the prolonged Israeli siege.
16:31The opening of seeking is a relief but the international community wonders if this corridor will continue to remain open.
16:38Palestinian organizations reported a record increase of attacks by Israeli settlers against the civilian population in the occupied West Bank.
16:51According to the organizations, Israeli settlers set fire to a mosque in the town of Salfit and sprayed racist graffiti on the walls of its temple.
17:00The action is part of an unprecedented escalation of violence with more than 2,300 attacks against Palestinian civilians documented in October alone.
17:10Analyze the violence seeks to facilitate the expansion of illegal settlements and the annexation of territories.
17:19We change topic, the Global South gathers once again to discuss history, cooperation and international solidarity at an academic forum that seeks to give a voice to the countries of the southern hemisphere.
17:33Our correspondent Bruno Falzi brings us more details from Shanghai, China.
17:38In Shanghai, China, the third edition of the Global South Academic Forum is underway.
17:43Scholars and leaders are analyzing World War II and seeking to strengthen ties between Asia, Africa and Latin America.
17:52Delegates from over 20 countries and major academic institutions are taking part.
17:58Our forum began in 2023 with two objectives, to promote a new communication order in the 21st century and to build an academic community in the Global South.
18:12We seek to unite Latin America, in particular given its profound history of struggle against colonialism,
18:18to jointly promote a new communication order and strengthen the friendship between the peoples of China and Latin America.
18:25This year, I visited the headquarters of the MSD in Brazil, its camps and schools, and I was impressed by the political strength of this peasant movement.
18:34I am also pleased that Telesur and the Shanghai TV International Communication Center have established a solid and fruitful cooperation,
18:43strengthening information and academic exchange between China and Latin America.
18:48The forum also revisits the roots of the anti-fascist struggle, highlighting the roles of China and the Soviet Union,
18:57a debate leaking history, memory to current global challenges.
19:02The first lie is that the United States leading the collective West was actually anti-fascist.
19:09It's not true. They were not.
19:11And the second great lie was that the collective West, whether in Europe or in the Pacific, defeated fascism.
19:19Not true.
19:20In fact, the West allied with the fascists against the communists from 1917 onwards.
19:27And it was the immense sacrifice of the Chinese and the Soviets and other people in colonized places that defeated the fascists.
19:37There were 50 million people in Asia died to defeat the fascists.
19:42You know, only half a million people from the United States died in World War II.
19:47In Bengal itself, three million people died.
19:50The meeting underscores Latin America's role in a world still marked by Western influence, promoting dialogue among universities and social movements.
20:02For Latin America, this forum is extremely important because it offers an opportunity to break free from the Monroe Doctrine, among other things.
20:14It provides a connection with the rest of the world, with all the countries of the global South.
20:21In Latin America, we haven't had much contact with other continents, always under the umbrella of the United States or Europe within a Western world for a very long time.
20:34Attending a forum like this is precisely one of those channels for breaking free from collective subjugation to the West.
20:44It's the world occidental, from a very long time.
20:47Participants highlighted the need to build a fairer world order and strengthen cooperation among the countries of the global South.
20:57Bruno Falsi, Shanghai, China, for Telesur.
21:01And with that story, we have come to the end of this news briefs.
